Voice assistant: Includes Amazon Alexa voice service with a far-field mic array with 3 mics.
Multi-room music with SoundSpace Link®: Connect up to 10 speakers and stream music using AirPlay 2, or SoundSpace Link®.
Presets: Save and play 5 playlists or radio stations with a tap when your ZIPP MINI 2 is connected to WiFi.
Automatic room EQ: Onboard room EQ automatically adjusts for optimal sound, no matter position or placement.
Touch interface: Enhanced UI responsiveness with functions like music control, 5 preset playlists or radio stations, SoundSpace® link, hush gesture, voice mic, room EQ, and firmware update.
Speakerphone: Clear calls with noise-isolating microphones. Works via Bluetooth.
Changeable covers: Extra speaker covers are available in several colors. (not included)
These Zipp Mini TWOs are different from the previous Meh Zip Mini because:
- Alexa assistant built in, not just “works with Alexa” like the previous Mini (v1).
- The built in automatic equalizer, you hit a button and it listens and adjusts its bass/treble/mids for most accurate sound.
The illuminated little bird interface at the top does a few more things, like mute the microphone and search for a firmware update.
But…it still sounds almost identical as the previous Meh Mini and can stereo pair with them. I understand not many battery powered speakers do Airplay 2 or Alexa.
I am so incredibly smart on this because I got the larger Libratone Zipp 2 from Sidedeal last week. It is hidden there now, but I bet we see the Zipp 2 (large version) on Meh soon.
@ggrochr@Lynnerizer I just bought one on Morningsave because I had a coupon. I know the bigger one is a better deal but this thing is already pretty darn big.
@OnionSoup Not sure about dishwasher but recommend it be kept in the refrigerator to retain crisp sound and preserve battery life. tl;dr All mehtrons know this already.
@accelerator I’ve got a nice big fridge with plenty of room for batteries. If I squeeze in, I could probably sit in there to listen to my thermos speaker
@OnionSoup I’ve been spending time in my ginormous fridge, too. I’m incrementally increasing the time in; started out in the crisper drawer, now worked up to the bottom cold storage section. Prepping for winter don’t ya know. And, if it works for batteries I say, “what the hell” maybe It’l keep me fresher and energized too.
I bought one of these like three months ago for full price. I actually really like this thing. Airplay speakers are usually hideously expensive. At this price? I’m getting two more.
Have a UE Boom 2 which I absolutely love taking to work (manufacturing and loud). But there are a few machines that are so loud I need higher volume. It’s worth a try since all the reviews I’ve watched or read have said its better than my boom2.
@flehm at useful volumes, yes. Low frequency notes require more air movement for the sake volume as higher ones. You can use longer throws with smaller drivers, but then you end up with distortion.
Any frequency response listed for a speaker that doesn’t include a tolerance is useless. +/- 3dB over a range means no frequency is more than two times louder or half as loud as the baseline. So if it does produce a 30Hz tone, but it’s a thousandth as loud as 440Hz, then you won’t hear it.
So I am a little confused this is the same as mini 1.0 I got 2 weeks ago it just has a few more gadgets I will never use? If they could say how it is better sound wise than the mini 1.0 I might pull the trigger on this one.
This post has nothing to do with today’s deal. But isn’t there usually a link to the previous day’s deal for VMP members? Where is it? Now that I’m looking for it I can’t find it.
I bought one of these a few weeks ago. The speaker sounds great! The problem is I was sent the plain Zipp not mini 2. Main reason I bought it was for included Alexa. The one I received has NO Alexa. Pretty disappointed
@ftwatson pmarin is right, the one you bought a few weeks ago was the plain zipp…this is the first time they have offered the Zipp2 with full Alexa. Your Zipp 1 should be able to be controlled by your existing Echo device after a firmware update.
@ftwatson@ggrochr I wasn’t sure if the Mini2 had been offered before or not (lots o libratones lately!). But this one definitely is the 2 (or it better be, anyway!). After deciding all day, I finally did go for two, because I really want to experiment with AirPlay 2 (never had anything that supported that), and also the left-right speaker pairing. Was going to get two of the same boring color like white or black, but instead I went for 1 red and 1 green to match navigational lights, so now I’ll have a port and starbord speaker instead of left and right.
@ftwatson@ggrochr@pmarin I hope the dual speaker connection works for you. My boom 2s are supposed to but I just can’t get the to work together and tech support couldn’t either.
This was the worst purchase I’ve made on Meh so far! Downloaded the app and it connected fine. Then told me that I had to update the firmware. I started the updated, the update then failed. After that it was a brick. Can’t factory reset, nothing. Quick internet search reveals that they know there is a problem with the firmware update and they are working on it (that was dated 2 yrs ago). Trying to return now. Stay away from this POS!
@sammydog01 Yep, all of that stuff, a few times. They have different Factory resets for the Zipp and the Zipp 2, tried both over and over and nothing works.
@rickray Now I’m not excited at all, even if mine ever gets here. They’re $79. on SideDeal, and -mehsupport gave me a less-than-genial response when I asked if I could get a credit, or cancel my order.
@sammydog01 mine won’t connect with the app. Not sure if because of ios14. Basically it is just blue tooth speaker with not apps. I would not have paid so much for yet another blue tooth speaker

“Sounds” expensive
The stripper was evocative in earlier days. Now, the stripper is just getting old.
$20 bucks tops, MEH, $20.
@radi0j0hn Good job reminding everyone this is Meh, and we require cheap crap, not overly priced BT speakers.
@radi0j0hn @Stallion These are ‘fresh’ out of bankruptcy. Let them age a few months… everything is better aged a bit.
@radi0j0hn Totally. Nothing about these speakers says $99. Except the actual price.
@Fuzzalini @radi0j0hn also, the bigger version of this speaker was $99 a few weeks ago.
@Stallion They should know their audience by now.
Output wattage?
@jewelshound 75 watts
@richmondhokie Out of a coke can?
zip zip
Got one last time. Ive been happy with it. Considering another to do a stereo pair…
I still don’t understand the purpose of the zipper.
@PooltoyWolf It’s so you can remove the fabric cover and change it to a different color.
@belden I’m guessing those additional covers ars sold separately to increase profit? (Well, not anymore, since Libratone is kaput)
@belden @PooltoyWolf I bet the speaker clothes show up on Meh in a few months, and then are a permanent part of IRKs until the end of time.
It’s a speaker with clothes.
Someone please libra-rate us from all this expensive Bluetooth crap and get us back to socks and steam mops, please!
@msayler Knives, we need knives.
I do appreciate the fact that it’s not $99.99.
@Kyeh I was thinking 50 cents so $89.50 less would be Meh Worthy.
@Kyeh
Solid Meh math
Third time’s a charm? In one month though??
8/10, 8/19, 9/3
$100 and not waterproof or even water resistant?
@elpepe
Poopy emoji is making me jealous with these deals of late.

@ggrochr This looks like the exact same one thats on morningsave.com and it’s even the same exact price!
What’s up with that?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
@ggrochr @Lynnerizer I just bought one on Morningsave because I had a coupon. I know the bigger one is a better deal but this thing is already pretty darn big.
Are you my mummy?
Who’d’ve thought that The Future would include a downgrade to mono sound? Especially after decades of 5.1, 7.1, 29.1, etc. systems?
@blaineg get with the times. It’s 7.2.8
Ooooh, marketing opportunity here Meh! Start selling single wireless earbuds as an upgrade to the old fashioned stereo types.
Speaker looks like it should keep my hot drinks hot for 12hrs or more.
Anyone know if it is dishwasher safe?
@OnionSoup Not sure about dishwasher but recommend it be kept in the refrigerator to retain crisp sound and preserve battery life. tl;dr All mehtrons know this already.
@accelerator I’ve got a nice big fridge with plenty of room for batteries. If I squeeze in, I could probably sit in there to listen to my thermos speaker
@accelerator @OnionSoup
Just bring mosquito repellant never know what lurks in there! At least you won’t need a mask though.
Does it work with the charging cable plugged in, so you can use it powered, like a better sounding Dot?
@galadad yes
Just how many bluetooth speakers and headphones do you have in your meh-cave?? Can’t we have a little variety?
I bought one of these like three months ago for full price. I actually really like this thing. Airplay speakers are usually hideously expensive. At this price? I’m getting two more.
Hi-fidelity Mono with an equalizer. So very 21st century. for $100. I have better movable speakers on my Harley.
Battery operated? No, thanks.
Business Insider?? Yeah, that’s my definitive source for tech reviews…
BUT WHY DOES IT HAVE A ZIPPER???
Really. This bothers me more than it should.
@arielleslie So it can change its clothes.
@arielleslie To listen to the Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers album – the one with the zipper on the cover.

Remember the days of “seriously, another power bank”? I miss those days…
Calling a 3" driver a “woofer” still cracks me up.
@craigthom
/giphy little woofer
@craigthom is woofer frequency response of size?
@flehm at useful volumes, yes. Low frequency notes require more air movement for the sake volume as higher ones. You can use longer throws with smaller drivers, but then you end up with distortion.

@uscpsycho only in the morning, and only if it doesn’t sell out.
@craigthom Thanks. I’m pretty sure those dog barriers didn’t sell out so I guess I’ll just wait for them to come back for cheaper.
I bought one of these a few weeks ago. The speaker sounds great! The problem is I was sent the plain Zipp not mini 2. Main reason I bought it was for included Alexa. The one I received has NO Alexa. Pretty disappointed
@ftwatson … but this one does. if that’s the one they ship you. So, YMMV: Your Mileage Meh Vary.

@rickray Oh shit. Did you do all of this stuff?
https://support.libratone.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001693749-Zipp-Zipp-Mini-Firmware-update-fails?mobile_site=true
@sammydog01 Yep, all of that stuff, a few times. They have different Factory resets for the Zipp and the Zipp 2, tried both over and over and nothing works.

@OldCatLady @rickray I love mine. See below. (Mine is the mini 2 and $99 on sidedeal.)
My Zipp 2 mini came today. It updated and works perfectly. Alexa play elevator music on Spotify. Sounds great!
@sammydog01 mine won’t connect with the app. Not sure if because of ios14. Basically it is just blue tooth speaker with not apps. I would not have paid so much for yet another blue tooth speaker
@jburnsiii I’m on iOS 13. I’ll be sad if it stops working.
