Having bought some of these for our grandson’s birthday party this weekend, $50 seems appropriate, but $250? Probably a “deal” for what walmart would sell 'em for, but not worthy of meh-deal status.
@ChadP I’m one of them. We have the fancy buildings around our train tracks. My son built the Death Star when he was eight. But it’s too long until Christmas.
@visivopro Yeah, and thats while its still readily available (saw it in two different lego stores last week) stick it in a basement for a year and you can probably get $500 on Ebay
@sammydog01 I’d have bought it but it sold out too quick. My sone would stab someone for the death star set, but I can’t swing $600. He set up the M falcon in 1.5 days. The boy loves 'em. Got any ideas on gently used sets? Is that a thing?
Probably the smallest discount I’ve seen on meh, percentage wise, off something so expensive. That being said, Lego is like the first three generations of iPhone and every Pokemon game; no discounts, or marginal ones at best. This is the best price this kit will have til it gets discontinued and toys r us puts it at half off.
The thing has an incredible detail.
Also, the assembly instruction is written like a book (in thickness). I’ve had car owner’s manuals thinner than this.
@MrGlass Nice! Our biggest was the Death Star. My husband bribed my kid to take swim lessons by telling him he could have a Lego set. He forgot to check the catalog first. But he learned to swim pretty well- swims the butterfly in summer league. And the Death Star is assembled.
@sammydog01 Thats great! The death star looks like an amazing play set. Next time, maybe steer the kid toward mindstorms - also expensive BUT its actually robotics/programming learning kit in disguise

I want this real bad but I’m not spending $250 for it.
I would LOVE to get this!!!
Except… no have $250
Wow. I’ve seen this in person. It has individual spring suspension for each wheel, actual steering and stuff. It’s really cool and worth the $250
Great deal, but I already have it…

@beachhead I buy a lot of lego, this is one of the flagship giant sets of the year, and it definitely is a great price.
Lego generally doesnt get good discounts, and as sets get older they go up in price http://time.com/money/4162059/lego-investment-compare-gold-return/
I saw the picture and got really excited. Then saw the price and was not.
Also, first post on meh forums
Somebody somewhere is thinking “damn, great price!”
This guy right here is thinking “$250?!?! For
Logos? Have you lost your damn mind!!!”
@ruouttaurmind I don’t know. People spend thousands of dollars on Logos.
@ChadP I judge not another man’s taste in toys, lest my own toy box be judged.

@ruouttaurmind this is close to a $400 set elsewhere on the net, I’m not a huge Lego fan but I have wanted this set for a long time.

Very cool but far, far from taking $250 out of my credit card cool.
3 lugs per wheel.

One of my friends has this.

Crap. I missed this. It would have been the fastest I dropped $250 since the last time I was in Vegas.
GOT ONE! This had officially beat my UCS X-Wing as my most expensive lego set to date.
Wifes gonna kill me though
@MrGlass Have fun building it! I love Lego’s.
@sammydog01 I just finished a Lepin UCS millenium falcon, and just bought the apollo saturn V https://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-NASA-Apollo-Saturn-V-21309
Its gonna be a while before I get to this one. But it looks beautiful.

@MrGlass that is our most expensive kit…
@MrGlass We have one. They don’t mess with it.
