@chienfou I was thinking of getting them for the exact same mowing reason. I decided against them because I also wear a huge hat to keep the sun out of my face and I know those will not fit around the rim of the hat. The 808s sold on meh several years ago aren’t compatible with hats either.
I have some industrial safety noise prevention muffs that I tried to use and can’t use them at the same time as a hat either so I’m sure these headphones are a no-go. I’ll have to wait until they offer some good quality ear-phone versions of noise-canceling.
Actually, I have a whole box of bluetooth headphones so I should probably just look to see if any of them are noise-cancelling before I buy another set.
@enoch
That’s what I’m doing currently. Only problem is occasionally the buds will fall out of my ears into the hearing protectors. I was hoping this might be an option to save that from happening.
@mediocrebot@phr@zippyzeb That pack of dried veg goes for almost double the meh price of the headphones, but the contents of it are slightly more edible than the Koves, their packaging, or most shoes.
I see that Kove is seeing the 101-N at their site for only $40. Not going to take the time to see which is better (anyone else feel free to), but the 101-N seems to have a LOT more battery time according to their Amazon page.
I do like the “R” and “L” inside the headphone. However, I already have 2 ALTIGO ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLING WIRELESS HEADPHONES (in uppercase, since your can’t read anything when they are on) already, so I can’t ju$tify another pair.
“ACC codecs” should probably be AAC codecs, and this is a good thing. I haven’t shopped for Bluetooth headphones in a while, but the cheap ones don’t usually support AAC, which is the Apple codec. These will sound better with apple devices than if they only supported SBC. I don’t see AptX (the Qualcomm/android codec) listed but that might come by default with Bluetooth 4.1? Worth looking into if you have an android device.
@Lazarpandar Yeah…or it could be a misleading statement. I can’t verify AAC on any other site. Might actually be “ACC” which might be some newfound bluetooth technology only available in North Carolina.
@Ayanami From the reviews on the site, it appears that the answer is “Yes, and it makes little difference”, which leads me to wonder just how much the ANC actually does.
@werehatrack Thanks! For $30 I’m not going to be too picky. I have a nice pair of Bose for home use. I’m buying these for work/travel so I won’t lose my mind if they’re lost or stolen.
Looks like shameless QuietComfort knockoffs? I’d love that with my QC25s dying the day after my warranty expired and vowing never to go Bose again.
Is there a 3.5mm jack or not? Amazon seems to say yes pretty clearly but comments here seem to suggest they’re wireless only? Do not love wireless only.
@ekjswim Not trying to convince you to stay with Bose (you do you), but I would 100% imagine that the drop-off in sound and noise cancelling quality going from a pair of QC25s to this would be astonishingly HUGE… maybe don’t go quite so down market on your next pair.
@sglewis I am no audiophile. Sometimes I can tell and enjoy a clear listen of a good source file, but only so often. I’m in headphones all day for work and comfort is above all. So here’s to hoping that the pads are close enough. Using Sony WH-H900Ns for a year or so if I need sound quality, but if these are 10% more comfy than the Sonys, worth $40.
@Poopy Trust what’s here, it’s derived from the packaging, and these are probably old stock of a discontinued version. That’s often why things end up here.
The reviews at Kove are not particularly encouraging. It looks like this is yet another item with an intentionally inflated (read: Functionally fake) “list price” that was designed to be deeply discounted from Day 1. Ergo, probably worth what Meh is asking, maybe not worth what Side Deal wants.
Dont know why everyone was completely shitting on these, but just got mine in today and they 100% are worth 25 bucks imho. Ill see though if they break in a few months due to poor build quality or not, but they def seem worth at least 50$ worth of quality, so im happy with my purchase.
Be aware that the ear cups are quite a bit smaller than those of many competitors; the ear opening is a 60mmx35mm oval. For me, that’s on the cramped side. And right now, it’s on the Not Useful At All side, because my left ear needs extra clearance while some medical chemistry magic is underway.
OBTW, I can confirm that they come with a 3.5mm speakers-only audio cable; the microphone function is apparently not supported via the cable.

I can’t hear you!
fits like a klove
@jmoor783 what if the klove doesn’t fit?
@hchavers if it doesn’t fit, you must acquit
@hchavers @jmoor783 If the klove doesn’t fit, you must not buy it.
@hchavers @jmoor783
If it doesn’t fit, don’t listen to it.
Tempted to buy for using on the riding mower… Have to wait and see if I still think so in the morning, I guess
@chienfou I was thinking of getting them for the exact same mowing reason. I decided against them because I also wear a huge hat to keep the sun out of my face and I know those will not fit around the rim of the hat. The 808s sold on meh several years ago aren’t compatible with hats either.

Actually, I have a whole box of bluetooth headphones so I should probably just look to see if any of them are noise-cancelling before I buy another set.
@chienfou I have tried that, doesn’t work as well as I hoped.
I then bought a pair of those little rechargeable ear buds, put standard cheap ear protection muffs over that, works great!
@enoch
That’s what I’m doing currently. Only problem is occasionally the buds will fall out of my ears into the hearing protectors. I was hoping this might be an option to save that from happening.
I don’t need another pair of headphones that only works with the phone, two of the desktops, and four of the laptops.
That said…

@werehatrack It worked! Your order number is: plucky-usual-quartz

@mediocrebot You toss me a picture of a left-handed watch? Is this a hint about the usefulness of what I just bought?
@mediocrebot I was wondering what was so unsettling about it.
Was wearing these watching the Oscars and didn’t hear a thing Will Smith said.
@mike808 You mean you missed him saying “LOL” to the G. I. Jane joke?
Good reviews, cheap, and no sizes to worry about? sure why not

@zippyzeb It worked! Your order number is: gregarious-eligible-meal

@mediocrebot @zippyzeb Wait is that a thing, dried mixed vegetables in 2 pound bags? Where can I get some? Want that, don’t want headphones.
@mediocrebot @phr i gotta say, that image left a bad taste in my mouth about this order…
@mediocrebot @phr @zippyzeb That pack of dried veg goes for almost double the meh price of the headphones, but the contents of it are slightly more edible than the Koves, their packaging, or most shoes.
Must buy 2 year old discontinued/outdated electronics immediately.
I can never get video streams and their audio over Bluetooth in-sync. I have better success going backstreet with USB.

@haydesigner we tested both models and much preferred the sound on the ones we are selling today

@cfg83
Likewise. These are my travel headphones. not bad for a ten-spot!

In for a case of zinfandel.
@connorbush Because big enough wine goggles make everything sound better until the next morning.

@Lazarpandar Actually it IS ACC codecs. It provides improved blocking of people blabbing, who is better, Duke or UNC.

@Lazarpandar @TheMonkeyKing Worth every penny.

Kreese!!!
Can you turn off the active noise canceling? I don’t like using it when it’s not needed… makes my brain feel weird.
@Ayanami From the reviews on the site, it appears that the answer is “Yes, and it makes little difference”, which leads me to wonder just how much the ANC actually does.

@ekjswim One photo shows what looks like a hole of the appropriate size, but the feature list says nothing about it at all.
@ekjswim Not trying to convince you to stay with Bose (you do you), but I would 100% imagine that the drop-off in sound and noise cancelling quality going from a pair of QC25s to this would be astonishingly HUGE… maybe don’t go quite so down market on your next pair.
@ekjswim
see bottom right graphic of Amazon Kove page
@ekjswim owners manual linked among Meh’s specs includes diagram of a 3.5mm outlet for wired listening on the headphones. so its a go!

@ekjswim that’s fair. I fly … a lot. So extreme noise cancellation is important. I use Bose. But in my home office, I do not.
Spoiler, they are not more comfortable than my Sonys, not even close.
The Kove site says Bluetooth 5.0 but here and Amazon say 4.1. Anyone know which it is?
@Poopy Trust what’s here, it’s derived from the packaging, and these are probably old stock of a discontinued version. That’s often why things end up here.
@Poopy Also, if you click on the drop-down “features” list for the item at Kove, it confirms 4.1.
@Poopy Kove themselves has conflicting information on this on the items page -
@Poopy they are 4.1 bluetooth. Sorry for the late reply.
If only there were an easy way to tell the right from the left…
