Kitten video
20They’re closing in on six months old (next Thursday). We’re seeing the adults they will become (I see it better in photos than in person, some sort of mind trick I guess).
Carol
Wendy
Wanda
Bucky
Steve
Goose
It’s fun to watch their personalities develop. So far, Wendy is the most affectionate. She’s going to be a beautiful cat, super shiny fur. Bucky is a little bully, maybe because he’s a little bigger than the others. Goose plays fetch. Wanda tries to catch things in the air (bugs, bubbles, etc). She looks so much like her mom, Natasha. Carol likes to climb the tree (I hate this). Steve? Steve just chills. So far.
In December, I wondered what kind of reaction there would be with a bird video. I pulled one up. I turned on the camera.
December - Goose
January - Bucky - watching the video I’d taken of Goose
February - Wanda watching the video of Bucky watching Goose watching the bird
I’m curious how deep I can take this.

Is the monitor safe?
@Andrewblor Yeah, the wall is right behind it.
Oh, this is so great! I love the string of videos. I hope you can get all six of them into it. They’re all beautiful, but I think Carol is gorgeous. Why do you hate it that she likes to climb the tree?
@Kyeh Because she’s so little! I don’t want her going up so high she has a really hard time coming back down. Brian says it’s about fifty feet tall.
And Carol is gorgeous. Thanks!
@Kyeh @lisaviolet yeah… That would make me nervous. Bambi got out several years ago and ran up a black walnut 40+ feet. And couldn’t figure out how to get down. Didn’t end so well. Up is super easy. Down is hard/exhausting. Whole shimmy down the trunk. But she’s probably ok if she’s figured that part out. I hope.
@lisaviolet @unksol Oh, yikes - that would definitely be worrisome. Can Brian put some sort of barrier in/on the tree trunk so she can’t go up too far? A guy down the block put an inverted metal cone around the trunk of one of his trees; probably for raccoons but it might work for cats?
@Kyeh @unksol The trees at the fence line all have barriers on the trunks. This one is in the middle of the yard. And a barrier would work if Brian had someplace else to park his tractors. But the cats can get on the tractors and hop over to the trees. At least this tree has super rough bark and the main trunks are at angles, which helps when a kitten is coming down.
@Kyeh @lisaviolet I have a feeling since she has probably never seen a threat, to her it’s just a large cat tree… So. Height wise she probably has it. Other threats… Never mind when you want her to come in. Lol
Once you get the sixth cat iteration, you should take the monitor outside so you can record the birds watching it.
Remember the babies? They grow so fast.
@lisaviolet they looked like they were going to just be two solid color at the start. Black/orange . Happy Halloween? But obviously they diverged. Isn’t genetics fun?
Hmmm… loops within loops… And it ends with wandavision? Why does this seem so… Familar
@unksol in three episodes we are going to find out wendy is the witch.
loved the videos. Some of the birds became pretty big as they neared the camera. I think it would have scared me if I were a cat. They’re all gorgeous and so healthy looking.
Has mama tamed down at all?
@Kidsandliz She was never wild. A lovebug from the get go. @Unksol has the wild bunch.
@lisaviolet @unksol Oops - too many cat people with too many rescues for me to keep everyone apart. Yea for all the cats we have saved from a hard, short life.
@Kidsandliz @lisaviolet
Short story is mama likes her personal space and will probably always be that way. From what I can tell.
I need to get off my ass and get the boys balls cut off before things go sideways. Which I should have but poor time management.
Pretty kittys
Will Wanda defeat Wendy?
@lisaviolet
Unless you like being loudly serenaded All Night Long, get the girls done before they hit eight months. My white kitty Freya was about 9 months old when she had her litter, and she went into heat again three months later, which was my fault for not getting her to the vet three weeks after the kittens were weaned. She stayed in heat for two solid months. Freya was a neighborhood colony kitten herself, and showed up on my doorstep rather revealingly plump one day, at which point I figured out that I ought to have caught her sooner.
@werehatrack You mean @unksol, all six of ours were fixed the day before thanksgiving.
@lisaviolet @werehatrack I’m know what I’m in for. If it goes horriblly wrong I’m sure I’ll have a goat to Blame. Let’s enjoy Lisa’s well thought out design/desions.
