@SnakeJG Yeah, the shipping on Amazon says about $35 for this model, it’s not prime for the one of similar price, so you’d actually be saving quite a bit more than $17 if you have free shipping with Meh. I’m tempted, because I really want one, but I can’t justify spending that much right now.
I have this and it’s excellent. It is taller than the common Artisan mixer but has a more powerful motor and all metal gearing. This is a good price too.
Model number insight: RKP26M1XER = Refurbished Kitchenaid Pro 2(?) 6 quart M1X(?) Empire Red. The leetspeak spelling of mixer is just a bonus.
@cinoclav Great find! Although I already clicked the meh button and I’m worn out, so clicking more clicks is just not clicking (I’m snapping my fingers to the beat’er man).
This isn’t woot where normally it would arrive just in time to make Xmas cakes and cookies, but Tarjey is closer to return, providing their store is still open on Monday…
Nah, I’m sticking with the meh button click. But thanks again for looking out for us.
These mixers are pretty awesome, not going to lie. The motor is a beast compared to most brands; the attachments you can get for it can even help make pasta. Mmm going to make some homemade pasta now.
@medz I don’t know if I’m more confused by the accompanying product article (which I also don’t get at all) or the fact that the comments aren’t all about how incredibly clever it is. It’s shaking my faith in meh and freaking me out a little bit.
@Dizavid The Amazon one is shipped and sold by a third party, so no, not Amazon’s shipping and no, not Amazon’s customer service, although they may help you out a bit if there’s a problem.
@Dizavid@djslack@FeistyTwoBearsVery Mediocre Person. Occasionally meh opens up a five dollars a month “free?” shipping offer. Usually part of another deal such as the recent Casemates Kickstarter.
I want one so badly, but this doesn’t seem like a good enough deal to pull the trigger. If someone buys one for us, I’m sure @polksaladannie would make you lots of cookies and fresh breads.
@dave nice job with this one. The wife has wanted a new one since her old from the 1960s that she got at a garage sale died. I’ll let Meh have some money tonight. Her first batch of cookies I’ll even share just tell me where to send them.
This model does not have very good reviews, suffers from an unfortunate amount of lemons due to the plastic gear cover, and this isn’t exactly a meh worthy price.
I mean, the 15 bucks extra is worth the free 2 day shipping lol.
Meh, you’ve been getting really disappointing lately. Products have been crap or they haven’t been very good deals.
@DavidChurchRN the “all-metal construction” hints that this might have the upgraded metal gearbox housing but doesn’t directly say that. A plastic hear housing is a weak spot for sure, all this thing is is a geartrain in a fancy housing.
Even with that, I’m seeing 4.7 star reviews most places (4.4 on Amazon) so I’m not sure it’s fair to say this model gets bad reviews. My purchase research on this model is a few years back, but I generally obsess more than necessary for a $200 purchase and did quite a bit to determine that this model was the best bang for the buck for my needs. (My needs, of course, not being universal).
@DavidChurchRN It is this exact reason I went with a Cuisinart a few years ago. If just doing cake batter the plastic cover seems to hold, but if doing anything heavy weight its a ticking time bomb due to the heat production. This seems to be the cause of the mixed reviews, it matters on usage.
I have not regretted my Cuisinart purchase which has mixed anything I have thrown at it with ease.
@icedragonfire Refurbished doesn’t automatically mean defective. When items are returned to a retailer, it gets sent back and they cannot be resold as new, even if there was absolutely nothing wrong.
And those returns include aspects as “it’s too big”, “it’s too heavy”, or “it’s not my color”.
@icedragonfire I don’t recall what models they’ve sold at Costco & Sams but their extreme friendliness to buyer’s remorse returns and demands that the manufacturer accept them back if they want them sold there… could mean many/most of these are virtually and perhaps even brand new.
(Knowing Costco’s almost sickly compulsive need to go extreme in size/quantity, I’d guess they more likely sold this Pro model. Yes, Costco, we’re noticing it seems to be a sickness with no end for you vs. Sams.)
One note: the specs say both nylon paddle and burnished paddle… If your mixing paddle is not nylon coated don’t put it in the dishwasher unless you want all the mellow harshed right off of it.
@hchavers I can’t justify getting one either because I wouldn’t use it much. I am wondering if any of the much cheaper (non-KitchenAid brand) would be worth getting for as little as I would use it anyway.
@dave Was this just to stick it to wOOt because they were selling these (not sure if exact model) for around $316?
Then they put this message up…
We’ll be honest: The thing we had here was REALLY not rockin’ it. So out of our desperate attempt to be rich love for giving you options, we’ve switched it to an item we hope you like more. Consider this is your chance to help us look good to our bosses get a little something for yourself. And you’d better hurry. If this doesn’t sell soon, we might just have to change it again! Thank you You’re welcome.
575 watts isn’t too bad, it should do most things you ask it to, but if you’re kneeding a really heavy bread dough or double batch of heavy cookie dough, it may struggle a bit. If you’re going to do really heavy duty stuff, look into the models that measure in HP rather than watts. This should be fine for most people.
@narfcake
I have the 1 HP model and it sails through things the 500 watt model adequately performed but strained to do. It’s only 3 times a year, but for the bread and heavy duty bakers out there who would want a 6qt bowl, the extra watts are noticable. They are admittedly overkill if all you need are stiff peaks.
@lljk Buy one of each and start your own TV reality show - Blender Wars. Which one will beat the other to a puree this week? Find out every Thursday @ 2am PST / Midnight CST on Channel 40.78.69.117
The ones on Amazon are shipped and sold by third parties, so, even if they offer free shipping, it ain’t like you’re buying from Amazon. It could be some guy in his garage.
I’ve had a 4.5 quart Kitchenaid for fifteen years and it’s been great. My one complaint is that 4.5 quarts is just a tiny bit too small for two loaves of bread of a double batch of cookies or whatever.
If I could justify buying a new one for a larger capacity I’d buy this. Usually I’m pretty good at rationalizing purchases, but I just can’t convince myself to replace a perfectly good mixer for a larger bowl.
@craigthom I think it would boil down to how frequently you make bread. If you make it regularly and will continue to do so then, yes… it would make life a little easier. Can always sell your other one.
If you don’t make bread too often then it probably wouldn’t be worth the bother.
Already have one of these (new) in silver, a gift from mom-in-law, and it is awesome. Also have a meat-grinder attachment, which is quite naughty. Takes a bit of cabinet space, but worth it if you like to make bread, cookies, cakes once in a while. My mom had one of these that was still working after 50+ years…
we bought a dirt cheap meh Hamilton Beach stand mixer a few months ago from Meh for our AirBNB, it doesn’t even come close to comparison to our KitchenAid. Except maybe for similar counter space utilization
There have always been two different families of these mixers, the full price retail ones, and the warehouse club models. (Cosco, Sam’s club, BJs, etc). The warehouse club ones are usually a bastardized version that is inferior to the retail ones and don’t have full compatibility with all the retail accessories; this is to protect their full retail market. e.g. buying an extra bowl can be tricky because they are not all interchangeable.
I.e. Don’t think you’re buying a $500-600 mixer here.
I wasn’t aware of accessory compatibility issues with other models, that is good to know about when comparing deals. Is that just bowls and the like or are some of the power hub add-ons not compatible with the warehouse club units?
@caffeineguy Maybe it’s just me, but I would think that deliberately making a shitty version of your product would at least get all your products pulled from warehouse clubs as soon as customers started complaining, if not killing your brand outright in the eyes of the public.
@djslack ok, then I stand corrected. My last KitchenAid mixer was bought from woot many years ago, and we had trouble finding a compatible bowl for it at the time. Nice to see this is a real one.
I’d still be concerned the about the nature of why it was refurbished
@LordSalem my comment didn’t make it here somehow earlier. Love AvE. The pro 6000 he disassembled rates fairly skookum, too. I’m not sure I’ve seen him be so impressed in a teardown before.
@djslack@LordSalem been following Ave for a while. If you have any mechanical interest whatsoever it is impossible not to learn something on every video. This guy is three or four smart engineers rolled into one. Great stuff.
However, make sure younger folks are not within earshot - he uses “Fuck” as punctuation.
Hmm my older sunbeam mixer has sat in the cupboard for several years without being used more than a couple of times a year. As has my blender… Of course I am economizing on food so extras like cookies, cake, brownies, etc. are few and far between.
This sales map seems to be based on east to west colonization of the United States. Specifically, I think it depicts the geographic distribution of tradition-centric populations in the US.

i bought one of these last time. highly recommend
I already have one and it’s great when I use it once every 3 months
@jmoor783 I’ve been lusting after one these for almost two decades. I still can’t justify the cabinet space for the limited usage.
Seriously though, $17 off?
@SnakeJG awesome mixer but not a good enough deal to buy it if you weren’t already looking for one imo
@SnakeJG amazons pricing algorithm is probably trying to match the last meh deal on these. Gee I wonder how meh knows this…lol.
@SnakeJG don’t forget to add in the shipping.
@carrieinparadis @SnakeJG Check the pricing for different colors - I’m seeing the Empire Red for $206, with free (non-Prime) shipping.
Are you and woot working together? Woot had one yesterday. Amazon had this as a deal of the day for $229 a few days ago.
@Woody1 Woot’s was a 7qt, raised bowl model.
For the next few hours they have the refurb on sale at Target for $199.99 in multiple colors. Minus the 5% Red Card discount it’s $189.99. That dollar might be worth saving the headache of any potential returns.

@cinoclav sales tax, for those not in states with Mediocre employees/nexuses (nexi?), can make a difference.
@djslack True dat. Though I’d hope if you’re spending $190 and you’re worried about the tax, you probably shouldn’t be spending $190.
@cinoclav easy returns for refurb products are a must… just in case.
@RedOak My thoughts exactly.
@cinoclav I got one of these from Target for my sister’s bridal shower. Good find!
Meh bowl for blended families — mixing it up tonight meh
These mixers are pretty awesome, not going to lie. The motor is a beast compared to most brands; the attachments you can get for it can even help make pasta. Mmm going to make some homemade pasta now.
@alacrity I believe this has an available margarita making attachment.
Have one and love it.
Not an im-pulse buy at that price. Mixed reactions here.
I’m all mixed up. I don’t know what to do.

inhales deeply
YOU ONLY DISCOUNTED THIS SHIT BY SEVENTEEN DOLLARS, YOU DUMMIES!! AND AMAZON HAS BETTER SHIPPING AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
@Dizavid $17 worth of shipping and service?
@medz Depends on how much money you got. But the point is this is a pathetic excuse for a Meh deal. Incredibly small discount, very expensive item.
OH! And the discount is actually even less because Meh doesn’t have free shipping and Amazon does.
@Dizavid shipping at Amazon is $36 for the comp. Third party seller, not FBA and no prime shipping.
And, you have a V by your name that says Meh does ship for free.
@Dizavid my bad, found the $206 one at Amazon that’s not the one linked above in the specs post.
@Dizavid @djslack
What’s this V thing you are speaking of? I see it but now I’d like to understand it.
@Dizavid The Amazon one is shipped and sold by a third party, so no, not Amazon’s shipping and no, not Amazon’s customer service, although they may help you out a bit if there’s a problem.
@Dizavid @djslack @FeistyTwoBears Very Mediocre Person. Occasionally meh opens up a five dollars a month “free?” shipping offer. Usually part of another deal such as the recent Casemates Kickstarter.
As a single queer guy, this could significantly ‘up’ my desirably quotient.
@wew it could definitely up your cookie making quotient. And that, in turn, could affect the desirability quotient.
/image come to the dark side we have cookies
@wew not that there’s anything wrong with that…
@wew As a queer lady living alone - trust that this will help you host better dinner parties, which will up your desirability quotient.
I want one so badly, but this doesn’t seem like a good enough deal to pull the trigger. If someone buys one for us, I’m sure @polksaladannie would make you lots of cookies and fresh breads.
@Seeds yes and i’d have more free time to make stuff since i won’t be doing everything by hand.
@Seeds Note that the Amazon price is shipped and sold by a third party. At least you know who Meh is.
@craigthom As an amazon seller myself, I know that if anything went wrong Amazon would back me (the buyer) up.

@dave nice job with this one. The wife has wanted a new one since her old from the 1960s that she got at a garage sale died. I’ll let Meh have some money tonight. Her first batch of cookies I’ll even share just tell me where to send them.

Your concerns on price are valid, though.
@DavidChurchRN these newer models have actual plastic in them beyond that sacrificial nylon worm gear that has been in them since the Hobart days?
@ohhwell here you can see the plastic gearbox cover. According to some reading I did KA changed this design in 2006.
You can see there aren’t any nylon gears here (though the artisan series I believe still has them).
If they are selling Refurbished on Amazon, and Woot and Meh, why are there so dang many Refurbs?
@icedragonfire Refurbished doesn’t automatically mean defective. When items are returned to a retailer, it gets sent back and they cannot be resold as new, even if there was absolutely nothing wrong.
And those returns include aspects as “it’s too big”, “it’s too heavy”, or “it’s not my color”.
@icedragonfire Because they have a plastic transmission the melts if you use it to knead dough.
Sams.)
KitchenAids are Great! I have an Original from the 1970’s…lol But this is a really crappy price compared to new… seriously?
@Mandamm The new one is well over that price. The comparison is for the same refurb model. $599 new on the official website.
Maybe:
2(nd revision of the)6 quart m1xer?
4 pounds lighter than the new condition version? Did they leave some parts out when putting it back together?
@RedOak it’s ok, they shrunk the new one so it’s just more dense.
@RedOak Or the drugs were removed upon the initial delivery.
One note: the specs say both nylon paddle and burnished paddle… If your mixing paddle is not nylon coated don’t put it in the dishwasher unless you want all the mellow harshed right off of it.
I have always wanted one of these, but I release I would use it as often as my fire extinguisher. Well, maybe not as often.
@hchavers
Repeat after me. “My smoke detector is NOT a timer.” Repeat until it sinks in.
@hchavers I can’t justify getting one either because I wouldn’t use it much. I am wondering if any of the much cheaper (non-KitchenAid brand) would be worth getting for as little as I would use it anyway.
@carrieinparadis @hchavers You may find yourself baking more once you have a mixer. I did.
@craigthom @hchavers Hmm, that may be an argument not to get one, as I probably don’t need more baked goods in my diet.
@dave Was this just to stick it to wOOt because they were selling these (not sure if exact model) for around $316?
Then they put this message up…
Nah…you would never do that, would ya?
Shaking head here, Really don’t get this deal a few bucks from Amazon, But beautiful item for sure. T.YMeh. Pass
@mellowirishgent Much less actually if you get free shipping from meh. The one at this price on Amazon isn’t prime and the shipping is like $35.
I, mercifully, inherited my grandmother’s kitchenaid or else you’d have me. Nice try Meh!
@sinless pretty difficult to find a better deal than that.
@mtb002 575/746 = 0.770777479892761 = about 3/4 horsepower.
@mtb002 so the 400 or so watt models must suck - both because they are not the stronger bowl-raise like this deal and lack the power.
@narfcake
I have the 1 HP model and it sails through things the 500 watt model adequately performed but strained to do. we bought a dirt cheap meh Hamilton Beach stand mixer a few months ago from Meh for our AirBNB, it doesn’t even come close to comparison to our KitchenAid. Except maybe for similar counter space utilization
Are you kidding me Meh? Hard times finding good products to peddle?
There have always been two different families of these mixers, the full price retail ones, and the warehouse club models. (Cosco, Sam’s club, BJs, etc). The warehouse club ones are usually a bastardized version that is inferior to the retail ones and don’t have full compatibility with all the retail accessories; this is to protect their full retail market. e.g. buying an extra bowl can be tricky because they are not all interchangeable.
I.e. Don’t think you’re buying a $500-600 mixer here.
@caffeineguy the KP26M1X model appears to be a full price retail mixer. Searching for it doesn’t bring up any wholesale clubs.
New, it is exactly a $600 mixer (at MSRP) https://www.kitchenaid.com/shop/-[KP26M1XBU]-404905/KP26M1XBU/
I wasn’t aware of accessory compatibility issues with other models, that is good to know about when comparing deals. Is that just bowls and the like or are some of the power hub add-ons not compatible with the warehouse club units?
@caffeineguy @djslack These mixers will work with all attachments and official bowls for either 5 or 6 quart bowl lift models.
