@djslack Congrats all around. Also, the bread knife is the only one of these that I’d even consider buying - but I already have a really nice (old) Henckels serrated/bread knife, so I wouldn’t buy this one, either. (HB to Ms. djslack, too!)
Pickled garlic in a glass jar of brine in the fridge… Those tasty cloves on a toothpick next to my drink of choice are crunchy despite living in vinegar and though you may try, you can’t eat just one!
@Michaelforman Well, I guess opinions vary. I bought these last time and thought they were nice-looking and very decent knives for the price. Actually considering getting another set.
@Bumplepimp I didn’t know they still sold Schlitz, you can’t find it around here though. Back in the day it was number one.
Schlitz is the beer that made Milwaukee famous, you know!
Bought these over a year ago. Very happy with them. Not rusting or getting dull too fast. Just hone each use on a honing rod ($10-15) and sharpen once or twice a year on a cheap sharpener ($5-10) and these will last.
I bought a set and found them to be a good value. For the price you’re paying here, they are made using a good grade of steel and are tempered hard enough to maintain a good edge. That being said, they are not Wusthof or Henckels–and at $5 a knife, do you expect them to be? They are not forged and the blades are not hearty --I would compare the weight of each knife to a comparable restaurant grade knife such as Forschner, but with a blade that will stay sharp longer and that has a much thinner angled edge (more razor-like). Probably one of the best “cheap” knives you’ll ever buy.
I bought these last time and I am happy with them. I can echo some of the same comments as the other posters. Plus I think they look really cool. Definitely worth the price if you need a new set of knives
@rpstrong That’s why these are a good compromise if you just want to spend $20 on 4 knives that aren’t super-great but aren’t total crap. Good for putting in RV drawer, etc. (plastic sheaths are helpful for this). In your $50K remodeled kitchen, yes, probably go for a $1K set of Shuns or similar, which, by the way, are sold by the same parent company Kai.

Oh, wait… (“I can’t come back; I don’t know how it works!!”)
Bought the Fiskars last time (2 knives & a weird scissor). They are okay utility knives, but I use my Wüsthofs, Sabatiers, or Victorinox for serious chefery. If this set is anything like the Fiskars, the steel is a bit crude, the edge a tad rough. Probably better than the crap they sell in supermarkets though.
Though I did once get her a trash can for her birthday as well. At the time she was not pleased, but since then she has confessed that she really does enjoy having that trash can and now thinks it was a good present. Lol.
I bought this set in 1/2018 and they’re still my daily knives. I cook often and have found them more than adequate, provided that you sharpen them occasionally. I am ruthless and stick them in the dishwasher - and used them to beautifully butcher a beef tenderloin last night

Insert Crocodile Dundee “that’s not a knife” joke here.
@jsh139 'at’s not a knoife… 'at’s four knoives an’ four sheafs! Take my wallet, mate!
@djslack crikey!
Lots of times a 4 piece knife set with sheaths is two knives and two sheaths. This being 4 knives and 4 sheaths is how you know it’s high quality!
So now that I go back and read, I see this was addressed in the bullet points. I’m leaving it anyway.
Also, I own this bread knife and it is outstanding. I most recently used it to perfectly level layers for my wife’s birthday cake last week.
@djslack Happy Birthday to Mrs. DjSlack!

@therealjrn Thanks!

Yeah we’re not here for the sheath related drama
Only one clove of garlic?
Wusses.
Cut it out Meh!

I bought these. They day after they arrived my wife brought them to Goodwill. They are plastic, light, cheap, and ugly.

Wow, that’s the best looking “closing shot” I’ve seen on this site for a while!
Lookin’ good!
CAn they cut through a Schlitz beer can?
Ginsu Baby!

@Bumplepimp @texian I can still find it in Milwaukee.

Life is too short to buy cheap knives.

Knives you find in the kitchen when you rent a timeshare. Meh!
@sterlingmark I actually had Ginsu in the last place I stayed. Had to laugh. Nice place though.

I need a professional knife. My amateur knives are good for stirring and stabbing things. They’re not really straight like these professionals.
@gary566 And what exactly are you stabbing…? Something normal society considers food I hope…

Well my wife’s birthday is just around the corner, guess she’s getting a new knife set!
/giphy bizarre-amused-notebook
@GeneralAnubis Best you buy bandaids as well I think… for yourself… as knives are not very “romantic”…
@Kidsandliz It’s her birthday not our anniversary

Are these post real? Or is Meh going all Amazonian on its employee and is making him post fake comments?
@Borinkano Yeah, I doubt @Michaelforman is even their real name right?
