just an FYI to Meh - packages arriving open/not enough tape a/o Texas air
16while reading posts of fuku#6 arriving, there were more than a few people who mentioned their cartons arriving open to some extent or another.
although i didn’t get a fuku :(, several days ago one of my orders arrived in similar condition. my order started with Fedex then to USPS for delivery. the box was re-taped by post office with the USPS « Received in Damaged Condition » tape . the box itself was ok, just not enough tape to keep it sealed.
the box was also about ten times larger than need be and arrived with only six bags of Texas air. if it left the warehouse this way, that would explain why tape is failing. set anything on it, there isn’t enough internal support, the top will cave.

I think we all know who is to blame... @JonT... @dstanley what's going on... Oh but the blame truly lies on @Jaremelz's shoulders
@sohmageek I need a roomy box, I'm a growing kid.
@sohmageek Did you forget @JonT doesn't work here anymore?
@jqubed Did @JonT give a farewell speech?
Edit: Found It
@jqubed whoops I edited out my part that said no he left lol. Sorry @jont
@sohmageek I'm still not clear??
@jqubed Unless you're a robot, I sure hope you're not clear; every human I've ever met has been opaque.
@narfcake I have some clear parts, like my lenses.
I Love all you guys over at meh but I has to Agree and add that using over sized boxes is bad too. Heck right sized box and you don't need as much texas air and the tape is less likely too fail. Anyway I do love ya guys ;)
No fun. I like the belief that goes around that some less than honest FedEx or USPS employee is going through and stealing the best item out of each Fuku.
(1) I don't have that problem. No Fuku's or the patience to try for one.
(2) RE too large boxes, I already have enough small boxes between meh and Amazon. Need bigger boxes to store my hoarded goodies. More bigger boxes please!
P.S.: @DStanley and crew, you do a much neater job assembling boxes than the hacks at Amazon, Newegg, etc...
@RedOak This is not just a Fuku Issue though
@Foxborn yah, I get that. My post was tongue in cheek.
But FWIW, my meh stuff has consistently arrived far more pristine (in spite of being abused by the USPS leg) than from other eComm'rs.
@RedOak I haven't had an issue yet either but i feel it is only a matter of time till I do.
I've only ever experienced this from Meh from the couple of Fukus I've received.
I've got to admit I'm a little torn on how much this bothers me. On the one hand, there is some comedic value in getting a giant fuku box only to find that it's 2/3 empty. Plus, like @RedOak said, those larger boxes do come in handy after the fact. And since it's apparent that nothing broke or fell out in transit, I consider it a successful shipment.
On the other hand, that initial feeling that something might have gotten lost along the way truly sucks, as does finding something that obviously broke in the box.
Either way, though, I'll still be drinking Irish coffee out of my new "Big Brother is Watching" mug while I fill out my ultra-creepy, "randomly chosen" census form...
I missed this Fuku (sad, but will likely survive), but want to chime in on boxes and shipping. My last order arrived completely undamaged - but, I was kinda astounded that the box was three times larger than needed and no Texas Air to be found.
The LED flashlights (Christmas for the kids! Boy are they going to love me!) were likely in destruction proof packaging on their own, but it does make a person feel more comfortable when there is some Texas Air. Well, unless it is coming from Ted Cruz.
My fuku was super beat to hell. No texas air.
@connorbush I think you're getting to the bottom of this... Delivery employees are getting into our fuku boxes to steal that precious Texas air!
@djslack its quite obvious, really. Everything else can be purchased online; however, Texas air is invaluable.
@connorbush I like to think they're collecting truckloads of it and going to use it to replace the atmosphere of Rhode Island in one fell swoop.
@djslack I'd like to think that too (:
@djslack Northern states are stealing all that Texas air..since it's getting cold up there they need all the hot air they can get :).
@AttyVette Plenty of hot air up here right now, all those presidential candidates have their usual hard on for New Hampshire. :P
My boyfriend's Fuku arrived today, and there wasn't enough tape on it. One of the top flaps was not being held down by the tape and some of the Texas air was stuck to the tape that would have been holding down the loose flap.
@MrsPavlov's Fuku arrived today with a red stamp on it stating "Arrived opened" and an official USPS notice on it (well, attached to it, loosely with a USPS "Officially Sealed by" sticker) stating "We care" and that they sincerely regret the mishandling of the package. The box is covered in an oil or brownish liquid of some kind and the few items inside the box have an odor and appear as though they were run over either by Fedex or the USPS, or possibly both. She'll write CS tomorrow and send pics - although on the bright side, the red drawstring bag was in there and I believe she's cleaned it up enough for everyday use and the Hubman is apparently extremely durable - my son plugged it in and it worked . . . The one other item that was in the box was destroyed (it was a The Office coffee mug - which really sucks, as it looked like a really cool mug).
I be all like : ( - not even a single bag of Texas air. Can't tell if this was a tape issue, or just a "situation normal, all fucked up" kind of thing.
But hey, GO ROYALS!
Meh on Smartpost.
I don't really have much to add to this, but I'd like to make the suggestion that we call it #TapeGate.
I feel like there haven't been enough "__ gate"'s around meh lately.
@Chops I don't understand using "gate" as a prefix. I mean, Watergate wasn't about some water scandal. It was a place, right? I guess we should call it Watergate-gate...
@Chops sounds like a "sticky" situation
@medz
Fuggin ay, @medz
@Pavlov Except it is a suffix. Otherwise yes, full of win.
@justbuyit dammit
@medz Janet.
@justbuyit Ohhh Braaaaaaaaad...
@justbuyit @medz #SuffixGate2015
my fuku also arrived badly taped and open. this is happening too much to not be some sort of a thing.
@uwacn almost like they are doing it on purpose... :)
@uwacn maybe that is their ultimate plan ..the ultimate fuku..just sayin'
BananaBoat speakers came in undertaped as well. Box was sealed on the ends, not at all in the middle and the tape was just waving in the air like a tightrope. If you guys have switched tape brands, switch back, @mehcus. This kind sucks.
Needless to say, I don't like seeing threads like this. Thanks for letting us know about these folks, keep them coming. I'll continue to pass this along to our warehouse team until we can get this fixed.
@MEHcus Fedex puts the smartpost on pallets for delivery to USPS. Next they stack the pallets on top of each other. The bottom of the pallet often smashes through the boxes on the corners. Larger boxes tend to be used as the sides when building a pallet with the smaller stuff in the middle. Contract drivers deliver the pallets and the only concern is getting the pallet dropped off and on to the next stop. You probably know all this but.... if it helps.
