3Attn @Sohmageek and other speaker dock lovers: just saw that Newegg is having a flash sale on refurbished JBL Onbeat Micro lightning speakerdocks for $15 and free shipping.

Sold out, you tease.
@sammydog01 I won a new Micro one (lightening connector) when I used statistics to guess the number of pieces meh smashed one into. I haven’t even opened it as I figured I would give it as a present to save me money (was considering giving it to my daughter for her birthday and then for christmas but her current ongoing, entitlement jerk factor makes me feel less than generous towards her). I could use the money to buy stuff for my 3 pre-school/infant grandkids who need a lot of things. If interested email me at my user name at the usual yahoo.
@Kidsandliz I’m gonna tag @sohmageek with your offer- I have some unopened ones as well.
@sammydog01 Thanks.
@sammydog01 Sorry. It was there with 6 days left when I posted, looks like the word got out.
@djslack Just kidding- the last thing I need is more speaker docks.
@Kidsandliz
The stat approach on the smashed pieces count contest to get a win is very intriguing. Can you share anything on your methodology?
@f00l recorded everyone’s answers a bit into it, graphed them, sort of resembled a normal curve at the time (there were guesses after me but, of course it was too late to change my answer) so took the average throwing out the silly looking outliers. Debated using the median. Can’t remember why I chose against that - likely because of what the curve looked like. Figured choosing that would take advantage of other people’s guesses, some of which were likely based on blowing up the picture and counting or some other logic, some were likely anchored by what others guessed… I did count and figured there’d be pieces I couldn’t see so that meant any answer needed to be greater than what I counted. There was a clustering, the average landed in or near (can’t remember anymore) the cluster, that cluster made sense based on what the number had to be larger than, so I went with it.
@Kidsandliz that’s amazing
@astroglide Amazing? Nope. All that is was playing with math with little idea how valid many of the numbers I used were. AKA this was a first cousin to mostly garbage in garbage out. AKA lucky guess done by machine. Now if lottery picks would just turn out that lucky way. Of course this state has no lottery so I don’t get to buy tickets very often and spend, likely $5/year on them - oh wait that would be putting a match to $5/year. LOL
@Kidsandliz hell give me your awesome math if we win we split 50/50
They are(were) micros, not minis though
Used my mini today while putting up the tree. Really sounds great…
Still have a backup JBL Micro in the box.
Really need a backup JBL Mini.
Thanks for the thought tho!
MINI, Meh, MINI, Meh, MINI!
Pls?
@djslack,
Thanks for a re-lesson I’ve learned before, more typically with the main NewEgg emails, but now also for Newegg Flash emails… to click the “more” link in the email.
There are often gems hiding there!
