@thismyusername Thank you. I have coffee of some type after basically every meal, and nothing is better for winding down at night than a latte (warm, great texture). I frequently drink a 12oz double shot half an hour before bed.
I feel sorry for people who can’t drink espresso in the second half of their day without having sleeping problems.
@TBoneZeOriginal It’s just assumed to be the baseline. That is to say, it goes without saying that prior to trying any of the options in the poll, one would already have had a few beers. It’s the only possible explanation.
Did you really ask that question in this forum?
Uhhh… Something that stimulates aerobic wellness, reduces blood pressure and promotes a feeling of togetherness.
No soup for me.
Marijuana. Just say it.
I’ll say it; I smoke marijuana.
It’s legal where I am (finally) and I prefer it to alcohol for many reasons, not the least of which is if I smoke too much pot, I might have an anxiety attack but I can still walk and talk and I’m not going to blackout, pass out or puke (ymmv).
It is safer than alcohol in all respects except for the smoking part, but there are other much less harmful ways to consume it.
People brag about their love of beer or wine and no one judges.
I see people routinely refer to wine as a parenting aid and even a woman on FB who was railing on about the evils of legalizing MJ and the dangers to the children(!!!) who actually had a self-made meme on her profile which was a big glass of red wine with the caption “mommy juice” - I shit you not. Yet I never see anyone criticize these people who love their booze so much that they’re proud of parenting while drunk.
I’m not stoned all day every day, I smoke in the evenings, to wind down and relax after I’ve taken care of all my responsibilities (and I’m not a parent). No different from the extremely common (so much so that it’s unremarkable) habit of having a drink or 4 immediately upon returning home from work. No one judges or stigmatizes people who do that.
Anyway, I’ll end my rant here, but please - next time you do a poll like this, don’t use some stupid euphemism or create some cutesy nonsense answer that maybe hints at pot use but maybe is just innocently referring to soup as a way to relax(?).
If it’s ok for someone to drink wine as a way to relax, it’s equally ok for someone to smoke a bowl or otherwise consume cannabis to relax. Anyone who has a problem with that is a hypocrite. Don’t be a hypocrite or facilitate hypocrisy. Ok?
@DennisG2014 I think it’s less about morality than the fact that cannabis is still technically illegal on a federal level nationwide and only legal for “just relaxing” (recreational use) in less than a dozen states (and DC).
I happen to also live in a state where recreational use is legal, but Meh crosses state boundaries and seems to sell almost exclusively to the US, a nation that is litigious to a sometimes-crazy extent (and currently under an administration that appears to be far less lenient on this issue than the previous one).
I assume they’d also sidestep around specifically mentioning streaming service credential sharing, speeding while driving, jury duty avoidance, and other illegal/contract-breaching things that most of society has accepted as all but harmless. To me, it reads as standard CYA stuff, not shaming.
@Kabn Here in MA, the med program is so lax that ‘just for relaxing’ would probably still get you a med card - as long as you pay the fee.
Mediocre should not have to cover their ass for a silly poll. Offering “smoke pot” as an option in a poll asking how people choose to relax is not, by any stretch of the imagination, something that would expose them to any kind of liability. It would be neither promoting nor condoning cannabis use.
If Mediocre feels otherwise, then they should have just left it out, not kinda-sorta-but-not-really-wink-wink offered it as an option.
Would’ve been better not to include it than to contribute to the stigma by playing games, enabling hypocrites and douchebag shamers like the one above.

How is beer not an option here?

@mehcuda67 Like when you and your buddy get out of the river and realize you’re both covered with leeches?
Classical or classic music.
Fuzzy blanket and a good book.

Dog, book, Mozart, cappuccino
What is this “Relax” you speak of?
@heartny It’s a kind of watch, I think. Like Causio or Tomax or something.

@DennisG2014
Wow. You may need something to relax from your zeal for weed, there, Cheech.
@cadmore Eat a dick, drunkie.

Last Friday the nursing team, watching my vitals, said I was getting a little too relaxed.
Okay.
Depends on the type of relax needed:
A stressful day filled with long lines and annoyance? Overwatch or Bayonetta.
Too much politics and feeling futile? Escape into a book.
Body hurting from doing too much with too little support? Either a hot bath (with a book) or a trip to the spa.
puzzles.
no…
nap.
