@tinamarie1974 We put in a 8x24 inground therapy/exercise pool with a jet you swim against. But we put it in a back patio which we then screened in. We keep it heated all year round and use it all year and love it. Not nearly the maintainence of a big outside pool and not nearly as expensive. Large enough for the grandkids to enjoy. I would add a picture if I knew how!
@tinamarie1974 One thing you should now. If you pay to put in a pool - DON’T expect to get that money back when you sell. They most often do not add value.
As for how you get rid of one…you give it to the ex
@tinamarie1974 as previously mentioned, do not factor in the cost of the pool in the value of the house. That being said, the value of the pool is a whole different equation!
great therapy for my 87yr old mom with psoriasis
good enticement for the grandkids
feels super good to jump in after yard work
less compelled to head to the beach
love to read the paper poolside, jump in to cool off.
good reason for people to come visit and hang out.
I think you had been on the above mentioned link when it was active, but you can see my $ 0.02 worth in more detail there for a refresher.
@chienfou i agree with all your points. I just refuse to put it in any type of loan. I don’t like to owe people if I can help it. So if I can save enough money and still think it is a good idea…
@tinamarie1974 Sounds like a good plan. We actually got our pool guy to run it thru our AmEx card so we could generate the Delta FF miles. Each time they ran a charge we paid it off that month. Got us a free flight to the Carib…
The ocean is too cold here. The lakes are also pretty cold and too far away. I don’t have any rich friends with private pools. Public pools are gross and filled with children. You can’t swim in hot tubs. There are plenty of beautiful rivers, though, that eventually warm up enough. Bonus: The local nude beaches are on a river.
@Gypsigirl213 Jeez, Louise. And here I was only concerned about all the ticks around the cabin. Now you’re telling me I have to worry that the lake is going to try to kill me.
Wonderful.
Please don’t tell me the cheese is out to get me, too!
I used to go to the beach every day when I was a teenager. But the water is so gross now, I would never swim in the ocean again. Tell me again how human beings aren’t ruining the planet…

@Tin_Foil dang man, win it on the first comment.

@Tin_Foil
I hate water
I do not want to go swimming.
The water took them. I will never enter water again.
Don’t go in the water. Thar be monsters.
My future in ground pool…one day, maybe, hopefully
@tinamarie1974 Been there…done that. Careful what you wish for. Not my problem anymore
@mfladd did you get rid of your pool? I have wanted one for a while, but my HOA only allows inground. Will take a while to save up that kind of $$$
@mfladd and I could hire a pool boy lol

@tinamarie1974 I tried for a photo but when I finally figured out how to do it, the photo took up half the page! Darn I hate to fail!
@ripper69 well thanks for trying
@mfladd so was that a hard pass on the “pool boy” position?

I hate swimming also!
Why, the cement pond of course!
@chienfou But I DO love the beach as well…
@chienfou beautiful

TL:DR to quote NIKE… just do it!

@chienfou oh that is a good idea. I will have to keep that in mind when I pull the trigger thanks!
Until then I can just hire a pool boy to hang around lol

@sligett a nice float trip is fun!!
Climate change + warmer water= brain eating amoebas
Much scarier than sharks. Stay out of the water…stay out of the water.

@Gypsigirl213 @LaVikinga NOT THE CHEESE!!! hehehehehehe
@Gypsigirl213 @LaVikinga depends on the cheese and the strength of your intestines
@LaVikinga lakes are especially dangerous. Stay out of the water…
@Gypsigirl213
@chienfou
I was about to go have supper, but then read your cheese link – gaaaaaaggg…
(That’ll save me some calories.)
@phendrick You’re welcome!

The Bathtub.
@Aristocracy bath?
Sadly I am not near the ocean, the rivers are gross and the closest large lake (ozarks) has e coli.
@tinamarie1974 All I have is water. It’s almost a large island.
@mfladd that would be nice to have so much access to water! Also a beautiful part of the country
I need this today
