It would take well over 1000 pieces of Candy Corn in one sitting to kill you...
5I saw this in The Wall Street Journal today and thought it was an interesting read, well interesting enough to think to post it here. The link should allow you through the paywall for about a week.

Won’t let me read it. Any way to copy and paste the text?
Apparently the American Chemical Society did a study before.

@narfcake I’d barf long before I got even close to the toxicity levels.
I refuse to pay what the WSJ wants. I can’t see the article even in a private tab. Perhaps the WSJ logs device id or ip. Whatever.
If they would offer a reasonable price digital sub (around $100/year), they would have me as a subscriber.
@f00l but at $1/week it is less than that… (unless of course that is just an introduction teaser rate)
@Kidsandliz
Teaser. They usually want $200 or so for digital access for a year.
They have a reality nice student/edu rate tho. I think around $50/year. You might be able to get it.
Death by sugar: It takes 1,627 candy corns to kill you
“To figure out your point of no-candy return in terms of “fun sized” candy, multiply your weight in pounds by 13.5 and then divide by 9.3. And to determine how many kernels of candy corn you actually can’t stomach, multiply your weight by 13.5 and then divide by 1.5, according to an equation provided by the organization.”
I think the numbers are off on that first equation since you would have to eat more than your weight in sugar, but the Candy Corn Count seems right.
More than your weight in number of bars- they don’t weigh a pound each.
@Pantheist Yeah. “Fun sized” - whatever they weigh, but presume several to a pound, so … I should learn to read more carefully, or at least faster than the editing window goes by.
@rockblossom I’d like to ask the organization why not just say multiply your weight by 1.4516 for fun size bars or multiply your weight by 9 for candy corn? Why give us extra math to do?
Fun size candy bars are in the 0.5-0.6 ounce range usually, so roughly 24-32 per pound.
@djslack To try to obscure the truth knowing that those who suffered through new math wouldn’t be able to figure it out?
@rockblossom But then likely we are all safe from death by candy corn since our stomachs aren’t even close to large enough to consume all that candy corn.
i would vote yes,
or maybe, no
i’m kinda wondering how to count the kernels that glommed onto each other
/youtube glommed onto each other
/8ball what should i do?
You may rely on it
Murdoch is a scumbag, I won’t pay.
Well I was curious about that
Got to about 260 and my friend knocked on the door. Sheoot, where was I? Got to 348 and my wife got home. Sheeot, where was I. Started over about 15 times with all the distractions.
