Is it winter yet? What does it look like outside your window today?
4Not even really fall yet in the deep south. I do miss having a real autumn and real winter though (although I do not miss shoveling snow or driving in ice, on yet to be plowed roads and in blizzards).
What does it look like today outside your window?

Not me, but I thought it was funny when we got an inch of snow last week and a lady called in sick because she couldn’t drive in the snow.
@JnKL What in the world is she doing living in Iowa if she can’t handle snow?
@JnKL
I understand her saying “I’m not coming into work because I can’t drive in the snow”. I have often had timid driving co-workers, during the most minor of snowfalls, announce they weren’t coming into work claiming “inclement weather”. I don’t understand the “called in sick” part.
People pretend to be sick to get our of work all the time, but I don’t understand feigning illness if you already said the real reason you are missing work.
@DrWorm @JnKL Maybe she was out of vacation/PTO time and only had sick days?
Here it looks like it does there today. But I hear in about two days everything is going to be iced over. That’ll be fun.
@djslack yeah, we have a frost/freeze warning in central AL. Guess it’s time to pick the last of the jalapeno’s, tomatoes, eggplants, lettuce and green peppers. The broccoli will be fine.
It looks like blah here in Waterford, mi today and is like 10-15 below normal. It sucks. It’s already snowed but thankfully hasn’t stuck so really doesn’t count.
@star2236 hey neighbor - we got about a foot of snow today about 30 minutes south of you.
Right now it looks like … DARK!
Pardon the screen. Most the leaves are off the Norwegian maples and the walnuts are naked. We’re supposed to get 2 inches of snow later today and tonight. That’s fall in Central Ohio I guess. After 23 years in Florida, I’m just getting the hang of this “seasons” stuff.
And Mother Nature made us a snow globe!
View out my back door of the house this morning. 2 hour delay for schools.
Lovely…
@JnKL aawww you are on a lake?!?!?! Beautiful!
@tinamarie1974 That is our pond. Most of the trees on the other side belong to the neighbors. When the leaves are on, you cannot see we have neighbors.
15 years ago we were looking for a place out of town and stumbled across this gem. The couple that owned it were getting a divorce and wanted it SOLD. I joke that we got it in the divorce.
@JnKL that is awesome. Sounds like you were the big winner in the divorce lol
POKER! JOKER! NOT MEDIOCRE! AWESOME!
@JnKL Gosh it would be worth the commute to have a view like that and have a pond!
Unseasonably COLD up here in Fargo. Average high for Veteran’s Day is 40. Today’s high is supposed to be a whopping 10. Add in up to 20 mph winds and we’ll have sub-zero feels like temps all day!!
It was going to be a shitty day anyway, but this sums it up well
@tinamarie1974 It’s not getting any better, either.
@tinamarie1974
@mike808 i had.to drive all the way to Ofallon, MO and back today and it was crazy. I could only see about 10 ft in front of me at any point this morning.
Global warming or global ice age lol.
@mike808 uuummmmmm. Apparently WTF is up for debauchery
@mike808 @tinamarie1974 watching Live Rescue and they’re pulling someone out of a car in St Louis who crashed because of the snow. Hope it’s none of you!
@mike808 @ybmuG oh my gosh, hope they were ok!! Not me, I had to drive about 75 miles round trip today in v low visibility but made it home before they sun went down and all the roads froze over. Thank goodness
@mike808 you ok??
What smartass weather app are y’all using? It’s great.
@djslack What The Forecast, aka WTF.
@djslack @mike808 Is that the official Meh weather app? Seems like it would be.
I think they call this Falinter? Winall? Fwinter?
@ybmuG Winter-Autumn-Fall, aka Winter-AF.
@mike808 yep, that’s about right.
@earlyre beautiful.
Go Ohio
@seraphimcaduto But but but the hammock stand has no hammock in it!
Supposed to hit -0 tonight. In Fahrenheit. Also known as nearly Effing COLD!
@JnKL might I suggest some thermal undies?
@JnKL @Carl669
@tinamarie1974 maybe velvet leggings?
@mike808 it’s currently 9 degrees here. so I wholeheartedly agree with the ‘just fuck’
@JnKL

Flannel-lined jeans
These are the bees knees in this weather.
Got a pair and zero regrets.
Also, currently 25% off sale going on at Duluth Trading Company.

@JnKL @mike808 or if you have hot flashes, the snow just melts around you!
@JnKL @mike808 @tinamarie1974 And then you end up frozen in place until the next one.
@JnKL @mike808 @tinamarie1974
I have LL Bean flannel lined jeans and they’re just about the best thing ever.
Jeans on the outside, comfy as pajamas on the inside.
They’re so warm, though, that I reserve them for only the coldest days.
In temps above maybe 20 they’re actually a little too warm for me.
Their comfiness gives me something to look forward to on those bitterest of cold days, though.
Well now this part of the the deep south where I live will look like we are up north somewhere - possibly the arctic circle at least according to how the morning news people are behaving and talking. The temp will be dropping all day (currently 31) down to 21 at 4pm and down to a low of 20 tonight. And 35mph winds. Apparently after breaking record high temps last week we are breaking record low temperatures today. Oh wait - do our thermometers here even measure temperatures that low?
At least the rain stopped early this morning so hopefully no ice later today (although with as warm as the pavement and ground is probably not). People here have no clue what to do in ice or snow. Actually too bad there is no snow in the forecast. If there were I might be able to sell my snow blower and snow shovels I forgot to sell before I moved from northern Idaho to here (did manage to sell my chains here - that was the surprise of the century). And at least I no longer live in Armstrong, Ontario where it is supposed to fall to 1 degree. Makes here look like a positive heat wave in comparison.
You know what’s been missing this entire thread?
SCAPEGOAT BLAME
Yeah, I’m looking at you, @ybmuG.
This is all your fault.
/giphy scapegoat
@mike808 sure, it’s all my fault. And I did it to myself to boot
@ybmuG Yeah I forgot to blame you for my weather entry above this one… where the earth axis must have shifted to put us at the arctic circle. The people on the news all morning have reminded us about every 3 minutes that we will freeze to death if we even think about going outside in 31 degree weather with a wind chill of 20.
@ybmuG is your neighbor with Christmas lights up already.
