When I click the icons for "themes" and "community" at the top of the page, the balloon appears behind the applet for the video of the day and I can't click on anything. Is it me or is it meh? Do I need a Java upgrade or something?
Just for the record: The browser is IE 10.0.9200.17054; update versions 10.0.19 (KB2976627) Product ID: 00150-20000-00003-AA459 OS is Windows7 Professional Service Pack 1 Java is Version 8 Update 25 (build 1.8.0_25-b18)
I got with Holly, and she is issuing a work ticket. Thanks for the fast response Meh!
@JonT O. M. G. - I wish you'd talk to my husband. He posts on a tractor forum and gets upset when he can't upload pix to his account. I ask "what browser are you using?" He says "IE" and I just respond "I don't want to hear it" because I've told him many times that IE sucks and many places no longer support it's use.
@SIMBM I consider it a solemn responsibility as a technology professional (though I'm not in IT, in case you thought I had any kind of special access) to figure out how to do essential things like loading Chrome on my work computer(s). Granted, it's not always easy. And, I confess, I still haven't figured out how to bypass current restrictions and get Evernote and all of my cloud storage services working. But I have Chrome and Spotify and several other things that I'm sure I'm not supposed to, damnit.
@katylava I just wanted to post an update to show how the video applet looks with today's item. The video sits on top of the picture and the drop down window. There still are a few of us IE users out there...! Halp! Please!
@mehdaf my version of meh home page in IE is worse -- course we have ie.8 at work.. someday we will catch up!! p.s. I don't normally use IE but I wanted to see if it was you or not :)
@mehdaf@katylava Just out of curiosity, I pulled it up in IE 9.0 on Win7 here at work and the balloons are behind the video. I could post a picture but it's the same except the word "search" isn't there. Flash Player version 17.0.
@walarney@mehdaf I think it's that I can't get it to use flash on my windows computer... it's using html5 video for me. Until I can figure out how to replicate, I can't figure out what's wrong and I can't fix it.
Able to reproduce on my work computer as well, which makes sense (no, it doesn't, but it's a thing I've seen before). Go through all your necessary testing and independent research and whatnot, but the answer is this: Flash gets its own windowing garbage, etc… and therefore takes priority over z-index settings. Defaults to wmode=window. If you append &wmode=opaque to your YouTube query string, YouTube will set the embed object to wmode=opaque, and everything will fall into place as expected. Fun things you learn when you work on an internal gov't site, and everything you do is designed first and foremost for some old version of IE…
@katylava Understandably so! Curious to me why you're not seeing it, but I have a feeling that's one of the great unanswerable questions of the Internet.
@mehdaf I think it may be you. But, it would be helpful for those who look into this to know what browser and version you're using just in case.
Happens to me as well. IE 10.0.9200.17229 Update versions 10.0.24 Windows 7, if that matters
Same issue - IE 11.0.9600.17728, Update versions 11.0.18 under Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
Sounds like it's just yeh
It's not you or Meh. It's microsoft (and kinda you). Works fine on Chrome.

Not to be that guy but…what are y'all doing using IE? I know it's gotten better over the years but still…there are alternatives.
Chrome
Firefox

@JonT While at it, what are y'all doing still using Windows?
@JonT Not my choice. Using a work computer.
@lilystang Because it's hard to look out of my house through the walls without them. Also, PC Gaming. But that's about it.
@JonT sometimes you just can't help being that guy I guess. As others have said, it's a computer I don't get the right to choose my browser on.
@JonT IE11 ain't so bad. (posting this from Chrome, however) I bet you're stoked about Project Sparten (or whatever they're calling it now)
@medz I would probably be using IE11 on my Win machines if I weren't all about synced history and the like on Chrome.

@JonT Internet Explorer -- the number one browser used to download a browser that works.
Same problem here. But I can live with it.
I wish I had noticed that when I was testing in IE... guess I just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.
Anyway, you shouldn't have to live with it just because you make poor browser decisions (or just because you're at work). Will fix.
@katylava Ouch!
did anyone else read the thread topic as 'is it me or is it meth"?
@carl669 no
Hrm. I opened meh in Win7/IE 11.whogivesashit.
The balloony thingys seem to work just fine.
It was the first time I've ever used IE on my machine.
I feel so dirty now.
I can post in a forum thread but https://meh.com/forum takes me to the SWTW video.
Me or meh?
@nadroj Yup. Me too.
@WTFhqwhgads this make me laugh, hard. Thanks!
Its either you or youh....

@mehdaf I have been unable to reproduce this in any version of IE.
@katylava Well at least I have a definitive answer, I guess it's me...
@mehdaf my version of meh home page in IE is worse -- course we have ie.8 at work.. someday we will catch up!! p.s. I don't normally use IE but I wanted to see if it was you or not :)

@katylava Supposedly you can disable HTML5 video for a site by adding it to the compatbility site list.
@walarney Wow. IE plus Flash. What a nightmare. I'm glad I'm not @katylava having to deal with that mess.
Able to reproduce on my work computer as well, which makes sense (no, it doesn't, but it's a thing I've seen before). Fun things you learn when you work on an internal gov't site, and everything you do is designed first and foremost for some old version of IE…@brhfl I might try that... it can't hurt, right? It's just weird when I can't test the fix myself before deploying... makes me uncomfortable.
@katylava Understandably so! Curious to me why you're not seeing it, but I have a feeling that's one of the great unanswerable questions of the Internet.
Or Mehby it's mehbelline.
Probably no one but me cares anymore, however it looks like the good folks at meh finally fixed the I.E. bug.
Thanks! @katylava
