@mediocrebot Ok...who at Meh is trying to turn their whore into a housewife!? It is not going to work so let's get back to some fun crap, OK? PLEAZZZZZZEEE :P
@mediocrebot $175 is perfect. My problem is, no place to store it conveniently that makes it less than inconvenient to pull out. New home design: wow you with granite counter tops so don't notice there's no space for a vacuum cleaner, ironing board, towels that aren't on the wall, etc
Someday you'll get me to buy a roomba... someday. If you do manage to get these things to clear the driveway, I'm definitely in for some hands free snow removal!
Anyone tried fashioning some knives to this and another roomba and having a robo death match? I think this would make a good spectator sport for me and my son.
This is one of those things that I absolutely don't need, and would never purchase, however if somebody gave me one for free, I would be really excited about.
@lichme haha. I see a lot of things on here where I think, "man I would be so excited to get this in a Fuku"... but would absolutely never buy it myself.
@lichme Roombas really ARE a lot of fun. My first was a Discovery model back in the early Woot days and at my height I had about 6 or so that I'd let loose on the carpet at once - guests loved it! But now I've moved on to drones - can't wait for Meh to offer up some DJI Phantoms.
Ah, the original speaker dock. Thousands available and not nearly as many suckers as inventory. Though this one is a little less proprietary than a speaker dock, it still falls into the "who buys this shit?" category.
@abqnm I will say that a Roomba for daily vacuuming to keep your domicile more dust-free while having a regular full-sized vacuum to do a more thorough cleaning once ever 2-3 weeks makes your place a lot less dusty and always clean looking. It's a hard sell overall, but I'm really strongly considering... if only this were a new and more-up-to-date model. Drat.
What?? They don't have a video of a goat with the roomba??? The roomba could clean up after the goat and the goat could...eat parts off the roomba. They're losing their touch....
@thismyusername I ans love my Neato. I use it every night. I have several dogs but between my Neato and air purifiers, you'd never know. I can say anything about this one but mine was one of the best purchases I've ever made.
@mehbee I love my Neato as well. Though lately it seems a tad senile as it can no longer find it's charging dock which is in the same place it's been from day 1. Still sucks like a champ, though.
@bakeyoural Mine started acting that way after a couple years, I just replaced the batteries and its back to normal. By the way... they have a new firmware for some of the neatos, and one of the features of the new firmware is saving more reserve battery so it can make its way back to the charger... if you have a revision 64 board you might give the firmware a try before getting new batteries.
@bakeyoural That's funny. A little after I posted this(and apparently mutilated the spelling of several words), I heard mine beeping. It had gotten stuck because a box fell on it. I took the box off and set it going again but it sounded weird. it was really loud and was going a lot faster than normal. I realized it was trying to get home. Did it make it? Not so much, I had to rescue it from under the coffee table..lol.. I don't mind. Mine still sucks like a champ as well!
@mehbee Be sure you read the message boards, the pattern it uses changes (it now divides things up in smaller squares) but it still cleans well, just differently.
@thismyusername I honestly rarely see what it does since I put it on before I go to bed. It's hardwood floors so the lines won't matter. As long as they don't mess up how it cleans, I'm golden!
Bought my wife this model new a few years ago. I remember it was well over $500 back then. It works OK, but if you have a border collie you will need to go clean it's brushes every 15 mins because it stops and orders you to in a nasty robotic voice. I don't know where it finds that hair, I don't ever see any on the carpet, but it does. And this is after going through the room twice a week with her Dyson. (Can we have another Dyson special, Please? Daughter wants one now)
I never thought of using it for snow. If you make a little plow for it, can you use it for snow?
I actually just had my roomba from 2-For Tuesday deal (2 for $300) return to his home base after cleaning my floors :-D Recommended for all, ESPECIALLY if you have pets.
I have one of the originals of these and they are awesome. If I wasn't drunk off my ass in Idaho I would buy one. Give me a couple hours and I'll buy one once I sober up. CT sucks!
bought this late last year as an anniversary gift. not only did I survive, but the Roomba has stopped the quarreling about who was going to sweep the kitchen. it gets the cat-hair tumbleweeds, no problem.
So, I picked these up last year when it was 2 for Tuesdays (one for each floor).
Are they the best damn vacuums on the market? Well, no.
Was it the best damn thing I've ever bought? I can't begin to tell you how stress relieving it is to come home and find vacuum tracks all over the bedroom carpet. Especially since I have 2.5 cats. Short of having Rosie the robot, this is probably the next best thing.
Sure, you need to empty the bin. Sure, you need to keep things up off the floor. Sure, you probably have to do normal vacuum once a month or so. Sure, it unplugs the elliptical machine (it's not like I'm actually using it!). It still feels like a huge burden is lifted off your shoulders to come home and find that vacuuming done.
Fringe benefits? Sometimes you get to play hide-and-seek. For some inexplicable reason, I'll come home and find it not sitting it it's docking station (usually because I left something on the floor) and then I need to go room-to-room to see if I can find it. Still a lot less time spent vacuuming.
i've been waiting for u guys to sell a Neato xv-21 since the last time, i could not wait any longer and found a deal on ebay, ur lost meh ppl. p.s. roomba sux, and not in a good sarcastic way :)
@Cinoclav Ohmygosh that's amazing! I have 4 and 1/2 acres, even if it just kept around the house down it would cut our mowing time. Plus I'm a sucker for robotics
I'm in for it. I had a 500 a while back that stayed with an ex on the moveout. The 560 is much better due to the scheduler and upgraded Aerovac bin. So it's on par with the Neato afaik. The first one I named "Sir Vacuumsworth".. the new one will be "Sir Vacuumsworth II, Esq."
I'm not gonna lie, I love mine. I have a miniature schnauzer who doesn't shed much and I have hark hardwood floors and it works great. I schedule it to run every Wednesday while I'm at work.
Bought this to help out my now 5 year old 560 that's gotten a little long in the tooth and slow in the sucking. He (yes he) has in the past eaten every little thing left on the floor. phone charger cords, hair ties, cat shit and still kept going. I just bought a new side brush for him but that won't show for a week. I highly recommend buying the 3300mah battery off ebay for the $30 or so. They have a 3 year warranty and if you contact them they just send another. It'll make your roomba run for about 3+ hours.
One can not explain the joy of explaining you have your own lunar rover making marks on your carpet or why the bathroom door won't open fully for guests. (Min tends to take up hold on the front bathroom and then crap out right behind the door, so he kind of acts like a 3 year old). Oh speaking of 3 years olds my daughter (3yrs old) used to hate him, now loves him but freaks out if he's not on the charging base. Wonder what having 2 will do to her :)
This write up forced me to try my Neato outside. All the salt on the walkway is gone and it is spotless but now my Neato has frostbite and its roller fell off. I fear a sacrificial bonfire to warm it up and send it on is the only answer.

@mediocrebot is this a robot snowblower?
@mediocrebot was that a yes or a no on the snow blowing thing?
(Aside: is it snow blowing east of the Mississipp and snow throwing west?)
@mediocrebot hey hey hey!!! @snapster found his roomba Rolodex!!!
Vroom Vroom Meh!
meh
Do not want.
Roomba is the new speakerdock
@6squarefeet If only they could combine a Roomba with a speaker dock. It'd be the ultimeht!
@jose602 DJ Roomba!
@jose602 purple robot speaker dock
@saodell Don't say robot wispers it causes barney to show.... and that damn dinosaur scares me
Awww.
God Damnit... I come here because I'm broke and want to spend a few bucks on something awesome, not buy a vacuum! Haha.
ITT: "This deal sucks" jokes.
Is the secret word snow?
@studerc snow, snowblower, blower of snow- what ever you fancy!
wait, so can i use it to blow snow?
Sounds like a dare.
@lichme Literally the only reason I would buy a roomba is if I had money to blow, an inside cat, and a duck
Roomba is the new high-end speakerdock.
aaaaaand into the ravine
Can I use this to scoop the snow out of my driveway???
@rileyper if it can scoop poop, I am definately in :)
@Shata Roomba's do not have a good track record with poop...
I wish I were less poor... or I'd totally get one so that I could attach one of the JBL speaker docks and have my own DJ Roomba.
...you know, thank God it is not yet Friday. I probably would have purchased one and regretted it for a least 13 days after.
@epicpoptart think about it...you could put a speaker dock ON the roomba....portable music!
@eeterrific hook it up to an $8 RC copter and you have a duster
Someday you'll get me to buy a roomba... someday. If you do manage to get these things to clear the driveway, I'm definitely in for some hands free snow removal!
Anyone tried fashioning some knives to this and another roomba and having a robo death match? I think this would make a good spectator sport for me and my son.
@jjohns71
@6squarefeet skip to 2:32 for roomba DEATHMATCH
@6squarefeet That's pretty awesome...but expensive for 2 Roombas. I can get the same results for free if I use my kids! ;-)
@Kerig3 My kids are way more expensive than a pair of Roombas. But more fun to replace if something goes wrong.
This is one of those things that I absolutely don't need, and would never purchase, however if somebody gave me one for free, I would be really excited about.
@lichme haha. I see a lot of things on here where I think, "man I would be so excited to get this in a Fuku"... but would absolutely never buy it myself.

Do I buy for my dorm room so we dont have to clean up anymore... This is actually very tempting.
@rmf83 But you'll have to pick up all the dirty laundry off the floor in order for it work. That's the deal-breaker for me.
@Kerig3 Ugh you're right, and my pile of dirty laundry is taking up a huge corner of my room...
Damn lawyers take all the fun out of hacking a (refurbished) Roomba.
Seems perfectly capable of cleaning up Colombian snow.
What?? They don't have a video of a goat with the roomba??? The roomba could clean up after the goat and the goat could...eat parts off the roomba. They're losing their touch....
Totally worth it just for this.
@mehgrl Yup. My SO and I call it DJ roomba. She was disappointed, she thought there was really a dock on it. Poor girl.
@mattchhinn There's your million dollar idea. Remember me when you are rolling around in money.
my fuku could use some suckage.
I sure could have used this snowblower today. Ah well, maybe next snowmagedden.
I REALLY want this but I'm very poor right (damn it grad school!)! :(
This would be the BEST thing in my room!
My neato robot sucks more than this roomba.
@thismyusername I ans love my Neato. I use it every night. I have several dogs but between my Neato and air purifiers, you'd never know. I can say anything about this one but mine was one of the best purchases I've ever made.

@thismyusername I will have to hook mine up to my computer and try to update it. Thanks for the tip.
@thismyusername Neato > Roomba
Nice try meh, I still love my neato I bought back in August.
@axleman1011 neato ftw
This + 3 RC HELIS.
boom.
Bought my wife this model new a few years ago. I remember it was well over $500 back then. I never thought of using it for snow. If you make a little plow for it, can you use it for snow?
You had me burned out on wombas back when you still owned woot... sheesh
Roomba moratorium anybody? (At least a year ((or three)) or more?)
Bought one of these last time, it's become a valued member of the family! With 5 messy people and 4 dogs, this thing is a lifesaver.
Anyone know if this picks up dog hairs off of hard surfaces? (Wood, cement, etc)
@RicoSuave works great on pet hair. I have cats.
WOAH SOMETHING OVER 44 DOLLARS
Too expensive for me..... :(
Already got the twofer a few months back, I'm good on Roombas.
Protip: if meh sends you a defective Roomba, iRobot will replace it with a model 599.
I actually just had my roomba from 2-For Tuesday deal (2 for $300) return to his home base after cleaning my floors :-D
Recommended for all, ESPECIALLY if you have pets.
Guess you could use this as a mobile launch platform for those helicopters.
BTW @meh bring us a Scooba!! That's next on my iRobot list.
Love the video today.
@nickm461 No.
@meh sad face at such a definitive answer! Don't think it would sell?
@nickm461 The Scooba is great! But I really want another Dirtdog! Why was it ever discontinued?
i hate it how you guys compare the refurbished price with the non refurbished, this is the reason why we have a love hate relationship Meh
@bacon4jason That is the amazon price for a refurb... the 560 new goes for $400 http://www.amazon.com/iRobot-Roomba-Vacuum-Cleaning-Robot/dp/B008LX6OC6
@thismyusername http://www.walmart.com/ip/34974435?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227023679809&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40343513192&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=78307290512&veh=sem its not the 560, but its the newer one and its the same price, so the older model should be cheaper
@thismyusername http://hip2save.com/2012/10/12/groupon-irobot-roomba-560-vacuum-279-shipped-regularly-449-99-great-reviews/ and here, spent 2 minutes looking for a cheap one

@avengerofpi haiku or it dint happn
@unixrab Bhuuut...there's a secret message in this one. But I'll see what I can do, once I have a long enough break. Maybe (~)_(~)
@avengerofpi ahhh... well done!
@unixrab Thanks ^,.,^
@unixrab Dust, mite, pollen, dirt / Your new Roomba will vanquish / Like a summer breeze
@avengerofpi there is just something about haiku... props!!
I like purple.
@unixrab Quite agreed. Thanks again!
@Barney Am I beginning to see a recurring theme here?
In for one! I will convert this thing to snowblower!!!! My house will no longer be dirty or filthy! It doesn't like baths!!!!
Pass!
I highly recommend these ! (until @snapster finds his neato rolodex! )
FART
I have one of the originals of these and they are awesome. If I wasn't drunk off my ass in Idaho I would buy one. Give me a couple hours and I'll buy one once I sober up. CT sucks!
Snow. Pfft. I live in India. It's 80 degrees here, and we call that winter.
@harish But it smells better here and cheeseburgers are delicious.
bought this late last year as an anniversary gift. not only did I survive, but the Roomba has stopped the quarreling about who was going to sweep the kitchen. it gets the cat-hair tumbleweeds, no problem.

@woo545 It's like you're in my head....I feel the same exact way! Only mine is for a Neato but same experience.
@mehbee The lines that the neato leaves are zen-gardenesque !
@unixrab I have hardwood floors but now I want some carpet just so I can have zen-gardenesque lines!!
@woo545 .... 2.5 cats?
Using a roomba when you have kids is pointless, because the floor is always covered with legos, marbles and other roomba breakers.
NO! We want one with lighthouses, not virtual walls!
No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh.
@jrwofuga No Pumpkin color :(
@RicoSuave . . pumpkin? . . now that's just silly.
I like purple.
Yay! The Roomba's are back ... The Roomba's are back ! I'm so happy right now. They're great for stink bug elimination.
i've been waiting for u guys to sell a Neato xv-21 since the last time, i could not wait any longer and found a deal on ebay, ur lost meh ppl.
p.s. roomba sux, and not in a good sarcastic way :)
Why is there not a lawn mower verison of this yet? I would buy in a heartbeat.
@bruinscbr There are a bunch of them. Husqvarna and John Deere both make them. Here's a cheaper brand: http://www.robotshop.com/en/robomow-rc306-robot-lawn-mower.html
@Cinoclav Ohmygosh that's amazing! I have 4 and 1/2 acres, even if it just kept around the house down it would cut our mowing time. Plus I'm a sucker for robotics
I thought it was weird that Pennsylvania was buying so many of these, then I zoomed in and it all made sense
@hihifellow Bunch of lazy Nittany Lions...
BUT there's NO disclaimer saying that it isn't a sex toy. Hmm.....
Wanted to get this but, unless someone here confirms otherwise and offers a contradictory review, this amazon reviewer points to some serious issues: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2UMMKBLS4K7RJ/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B000UUBCNO&nodeID=1055398&store=home-garden
Will it at least get coke off the floor?
@visualseed what kind of coke?
I'm not gonna lie, I love mine. I have a miniature schnauzer who doesn't shed much and I have hark hardwood floors and it works great. I schedule it to run every Wednesday while I'm at work.
@mattchhinn u only work on Wednesdays?
@xLSxGaia Work is hard to find. I'm super talented. You got a job for me? Hehehe.
If I could only keep my floor clean enough to run the one I already got...
Out, damned spot!
This write up forced me to try my Neato outside. All the salt on the walkway is gone and it is spotless but now my Neato has frostbite and its roller fell off. I fear a sacrificial bonfire to warm it up and send it on is the only answer.
Thanks meh.
is all I can think right now
@erlarson85 Norsemen FTW!
Where's the robot that's going to dust my shelves for me? I need that one real bad here...
@toomanynotes
