@bradyson If it’s any consolation, it looks like the twin mattress pad I bought off one of the Meh-family sites and it’s a nice mattress pad. Nothing really special, but worth the price of the IRK. And you got a bonus bag and what my cats would likely call a very fine box.

@bluebeatpete @ironcheftoni Those come off really easy with a small strong magnet. Uh… I mean… Someone told me once that a magnet might work for that kind of tag if the salesperson forgets to remove it after you purchase it totally legally…or something…yeah.

@heartny Fedex does this bullshit to me on the regular, Meh and other shippers both. It gets all the way to the local distro hub and “on a truck for delivery”. Then the driver suddenly develops 20/200 vision, marks it as unreadable, and the label is “replaced”. The next day it gets delivered with the same worn but still perfectly legible label attached.

Obviously, FedEx’s vision insurance benefit is just a laser pointer you shine in your eye.

@heartny @mikey I suspect that some of the drivers just pick the “reason” for nondelivery at random. I’ve had some really bogus ones pop up, like “No access to address” (I don’t have a fence, the street wasn’t blocked), “Invalid address” (it wasn’t), “Signature not available” (the truck stopped out front, the driver dropped parcels to two neighbors but not to me, plus mine didn’t need a signature anyway), and loads more.

@heartny @mikey @werehatrack My personal favorite was “Apt unit not indicated”.

Mine is a single family, free-standing house, with absolutely nothing that would suggest it’s multiple apartments. And also? They’d been delivering to me here for 20 years, at no time with an apartment #.

@Felton10 @tinamarie1974 Bubble wrap is for stuff that’s supposed to have been better than IRKsome when it was shipped. I’ve never had any show up in one of these, though the boxes have sometimes contained bags of Plano air. I pop those outside, holding them downwind, just in case.

@Felton10 @werehatrack I have had the bubble wrap before and if I’m not mistaken, so has Felton. In fact we had a hypothesis for a while that the more bubble wrap the better the contents. Not sure where that unofficial study ended up…maybe proof positive when he received a gaming system in an Irk. What was that @felton10

@tinamarie1974 @werehatrack oh-yes that is when my theory that the more bubble wrap the better the IRK got started-the x box had a massive quantity of bubble wrap around it as dsjack got the box filled with books. This was the amount of bubble wrap filled when I got the x-box

3 cats make our box game way stronger than it probably should be, lol! And they do enjoy them every day so I have a hard time getting rid of them. I even made a box ‘tower’ with blankets inside. Who needs expensive cat condos when you have boxes?

Your kitties are adorable! I also have a Koda (or Kota) depending on how you spell it. He’s an asshole, so it’s a good thing he’s cute.

@Star2236 My car’s a bit too big to fit in the coin purse. But using it to corral my car’s charging cables would be a good use for it.

@k4evryng Your Koda looks like the extra fluffy version of mine. I hadn’t thought about making a kitty tower out of boxes. Winter’s coming so the cat’s might appreciate some extra places to curl up when it starts to get cold. It could be a while. We’re solidly into “this is what summer is SUPPOSED to feel like” weather here in North Texas. I think fall is a random Tuesday late next month. But maybe in December. Gives me lots of time to plan.

@gt0163c I was thinking the same thing…they do look alike.
I make the tower by doubling up the boxes…like a bigger one with its open part on the side…then I tuck a slightly smaller one with the open part up and put a blanket it that. It sort of makes an L shape. The tucked box helps reinforce the sides of the bigger box, and having another level of double boxes on top keeps the top of the bottom box from caving in (if that makes sense, lol!) I’m not home or I’d send a picture. Chewy boxes are really strong so they hold up well. So are Walmart boxes. Amazon boxes are a bit too squishy, lol!

@k4evryng I think it makes sense. I don’t regularly shop at Chewy, but I’ve got some “stronger than Amazon” boxes around. I’ll have to give that a try. Thanks for the idea!

@Seeds You might have gotten the one I returned that didn’t work right. Hope you didn’t but it would be just like meh to toss it in. I had joked about that with meh support. I had called Anker for trouble shooting help and they couldn’t figure out what the issue was. They were going to exchange it for me for a “lesser” one but meh was nice and exchanged it for me.

After reviewing this comment thread over the weekend I now feel that this IRK was worse than the one that I got with all broken coffee mugs!

@jvo If you have a number of those princess bags the Ronald McDonald House takes them (at least they did in my case when I got a pack of 10 or something). They celebrate all birthdays of kids there who have a birthday that month and so use them to put presents in them.

@pepper114 No. At least it gives a phone number to call. Contact support. They likely will give you a coupon code to cover it. BUT it might be spam as I just reverse looked up that number and it doesn’t give the company name.

@pepper114 Too late to edit. Your item should be coming fedex and my tracking didn’t look like that. The phone number is spoofed as it belongs to a 74 year old person (reverse look up) so likely your email has been spammed. Contact support via the top of the page under “what is meh”.

@pepper114 I will note that the COD line has no amount shown. This may be just a botbarf that let a line of optional boilerplate get through in error. If the driver shows up looking confused because the FXG system insists that he’s supposed to collect, and the amount is $0.00, things may get more interesting.

@werehatrack I just got the text it’s been delayed until tomorrow. Fedex is terrible where I live. I’ll be lucky if it shows up next week. It just arrived at the main hub, so it’ll be another day to get to the local hub. Then they’ll forget to put it on the truck for a few days. I’m sure I won’t be home when they come asking for all those 0 dollars. Lol, thanks for the help.

@pepper114 I just checked the status of my delivery in the FedEx app and it says the same thing, Cash on Delivery Due. I looked at old deliveries and they say the same thing. I guess as long as there is no dollar amount next to that we’re good. Mine isn’t delayed so far, in spite of the allegedly unreadable barcode label.

@pepper114 update: no one asked me for money. Unfortunately no one stole the box either. Bummer. Well, not worth a picture but there was a pair of leggings for my cat, three pairs of ugly socks (but cotton, so I’ll wear them), three coin purses (how many of these do they have?), a roll of vinyl, and a bag. Thanks. It’s the thought right? It was only $5 right? Hahaha…ugh.

@Bingo I think the white thing might be for cutting onions or other things you want thinly sliced. Put the thing to be sliced under the white thing and slice away. Makes it easier to get even slices and only slice the thing to be sliced rather than also slicing your fingers.

@Bingo The chocolate bombs are actually for hot chocolate milk. There is cocoa mix inside the chocolate ball. You put the bomb in a cup, then pour hot milk over it. Then stir for your cup of hot chocolate.

@sammydog01 not necessarily, but usually an irk is a few things in a box and this felt regretfully lacking.

@dcNate @sammydog01 The number of things in the box definitely varies. I once got an IRK that was a bag and three toothbrush club coins. I also got one that was a vacuum cleaner + steam mop (two separate things but sold as a bundle in one box) with a bag scrunched up on top.

@moonhat @tinamarie1974 I agree both of the shoes are nice. The size difference is extreme and not that close in look makes this my worst IRK yet. The funny only lasts so long. I have to figure out where to donate them. The thrift store only wants matching shoes no more than 1 size difference.

@lehigh The sleep machine is actually decent. I bought one to try to drown out the helicopters (under the final approach landing path when they are headed to the hospital) and racket of living in a commercial zone. Works reasonably well considering how small it is.

The dynamics of this must be pretty interesting. Airtags are so small they are easily concealed. So the only way the airline will know they are there is when someone uses it to find their lost luggage.

I guess the next step is to punish the customer for finding their own luggage?

Those sheets aren’t too bad after a couple washes, I put them on my dads bed and they’ve held up to rigorous cleaning from leaking of a of tub. I wanted a lantern flashlight but I didn’t get one.

@Star2236 socks were grabbed by sons gf, few things will go in the random gift box, sheets will probably go to goodwill. nothing great but nothing deserving regret, thanks Meh

Sanger doesn’t even have a FedEx depot; I’m guessing that this is another FXG trailer that was subbed out to R+L, hauled to the wrong hub, dropped there and ignored because it wasn’t expected, and is now getting the “when we get around to it” treatment by the subcontractor. (They have a facility in Sanger, and I’ve seen this pattern before.) If my guess is correct, it could be several more days yet before that trailer gets to the Houston hub.

@blaineg @werehatrack Well, the good news is that FedEx shows the current status as “At local FedEx facility HOUSTON, TX” but not out for delivery yet. They still estimate it will be delivered today, but that doesn’t seem likely.

Should I hope that because other freight lines were involved, I’ll ge getting a pallet or two of instant regret!!! Probably not…
