@alacrity I only stalk online in hopes one day I find the one I am stalking is also a stalker, and sexy and we can live happily ever after stalking someone else together.
@beachhead Well to be fair they don't exactly plaster it all over the place. As a business it is pretty much required to be in the 20 or so social media pages by default but at least they don't force you to go there to find "special" deals or coupons and such like most do. They also have as mentioned a twitter that is updated at exactly 11pm CST as well with the item, and I'm sure some other options. It is just a backup method to see what is going on when the server craps out for me.
I'm really thankful for the Facebook page so I knew not to wear my F5 key out too badly. This is a decent item if it's of a decent quality, but I don't know anyone who uses their laptop in their car.
@clonetek I'm sure that some people will find it useful for that, but I'm not really one of them. I'm one of those horrible people who leave their laptop plugged in all the time (Damn the batteries, anyway!) so there's never been an instance where I needed an emergency charge.
I kind of want this for the drawstring bag of power tips, or else I have a touch of Stockholm syndrome from waiting an hour for the page to load. Both, maybe.
@narfcake point well taken but i made a new year's resolution to try to cut down on my "oh, i may need that some day" impulse buys and would hate to report that my resolution only lasted four days. once i get my junk room (verging on hoarder) cleared maybe i'll change back to my old ways.

@KDemo This has been bothering me. I didn't mean to be offensive, but I can see out of context how this is a very troubling and even potentially mysogynistic image. Please know that that was not my intent. I apologize--in all earnestness, not as "goat" but quite personally. And I hope that the gif hasn't haunted you as it has me, realizing--in retrospect--how it might affect some. And I obviously didn't give it much thought before posting it with a tacky comment. In hindsight, I'd happily take it all back.
@Outofmymind, @givemeyoursoul and @unixrab I appreciate your efforts on my behalf to clarify the context. The character is from Archer, for those who are unfamiliar; and, honestly, it's a hilarious show, but broadly and routinely offensive, and definitely not for everyone. As far as I'm concerned I don't think the whole post needs to be deleted (indeed, it may serve as a warning to myself and others to think twice), but I will trust your judgment--whatever you think should be done.
@joelmw Holy shit a PC goat. As crazy dude told Carl on TWD, never be sorry. You will not please everyone, and if you try you will just piss off more. My suggestion is next time simply use the title, Listen up Sluts, but include a picture of a man being choked. This will surely confuse all offended parties. PS I am slightly crazy.
@joelmw well you sure did your goat "doodie" (my personal spelling of duty) with this one. In your defense, however, I agree with @outofmymind Meh forums are no place for sensitive feelings worn on a digital sleeve. The Archer series is an actual show on a national network. The Judy Greer voiced character is into all sorts of fetishes, including erotic-asphyxiation (NOT AUTO). No PC here. Once ONE THING is off-limits, soon everything will be...and that is BORING. No one is forced to read, respond or participate in the forums. I may not like what you say, but I support your right to say it within the very BROAD forum rules. Consider these forums (or any voluntary forums) like comedy.
@Outofmymind A lot to process there. I think I mostly agree with you about most of what you said, except I think sometimes apologies are warranted. And there's something about violence against women that calls for a little more caution. I still think the Carol/Cheryl bit is funny, but it's not something I'm willing to fight for and it really only works in context. I'll own PC if that's what it takes, and I'd rather be hated for that than this particular perception of misogyny. But there's a lot I like about you, crazy dude. I did consider your approach, by the way, but decided it would be too damned much work. Fuggit, I said, this'll do. And goddamnit, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to apologize for my apology.
@unixrab Again, I mostly agree with you (and you know how I hate to say that to you in particular). There's just a line I'm not willing to cross. It's one thing to finger a dog or fuck a dolphin, but I don't want to be the guy who's known for choking the ladies. So, yaknow, meow. And you would be the guy to bust my balls about the "auto" part. Those were just two that came quickly to mind and I still think they apply. Anyway, mad respect, you obnoxious bastard. Now get outta here. ;-)
But, btw, I think it's significant that Carol/Cheryl expects and mostly manages to get others to pleasure her, and the guys, they have to self-service. There's a metaphor there, or a pattern. Or something.
@JonT That's better than I could have imagined. You're the man. And the original will remain an inside joke and/or shared trauma for those of us who experienced it. I especially like the implicit shoutout to @Marklog (that sick, sick individual).
@joelmw what the fuck just happened here? I feel... Like I need a shower or something from all of this sappy bullshit. Anyway, carry on with the puppies and rainbows. Smh.
@joelmw I think I have a sense of your sensibilities and respect them, therefore I never really considered your intentions to be misogynistic. Having never seen Archer, however, the image came across as abuse. I am opposed to any censorship, but there is a line where I will choose not to participate in a group that holds ideologies such as racism or abuse as acceptable standards. When it comes to consensual sex, I do not judge. Thanks for the mea culpa, you’re a great goat! Now go forth and apologize for something else!
@KDemo On the one hand, while I asked for the previous image to be taken down, I didn't ask for a replacement, let alone the specific image. On the other hand, I completely approve. Besides, it's my fault anyway, I suppose.
And I'll be honest, now that it's over, I'm kinda proud of this roller coaster ride we've accidentally taken--from disturbing sexual violence to saccharine sappiness. I think we've covered a continuum of inappropriateness. Something to offend most everyone (though, honestly, I'm at least sort of okay with all of it). Go team!
@joelmw that's more like it! (No I don't condone animal abuse, so let's not get our panties too wet about that. Although my Shiba has been abusing me with putrid flatulence lately.)
@joelmw - I really have to practice using winky emoticons, as I apparently don't do a good job of communicating sarcasm. At least, with Sheldon Cooper, I'm in good company ;-) Everything's good from here. Oh, and that's an excellent puppy training technique.
@joelmw Personally, I think I'm more offended by the puppies/rainbow picture. At least the erotic asphyxiation picture reflects real life. Good luck experiencing the sappy puppy moment.
@Cinoclav Somehow this came up in a search. I contemplated posting it. My wife suggested it might appear too gay (and there's nothing wrong with that if that's who you are).
@Cinoclav And to me the brilliance of the puppy dogs and rainbows (kinda like the unicorn just above), despite the fact that it might actually appeal to some people, is that it's completely absurd.
@joelmw You may need to be more specific as to just what the hell you were searching for in the first place. (And while I agree, it's certainly well situated on the other side of the fence, I have no issues with anyone's sexual preference either. Except for maybe dolphins...)
@Cinoclav I honestly don't recall. I know I started looking for puppies and rainbows, but then I tossed in unicorn and goat and shit. Please don't ask me to explain. I've said too much already.
@joelmw Let's just say it's a little difficult to tell the sex of a dolphin. I'd really prefer not to discuss it any further on the advice of my therapist.
@unixrab Nope because it is something I dont want or need. Some of us have self control over our spending. However it is nice to be offered free shipping if I needed the product.
The other day I saw a cheap item on woot that I wanted but I didn't buy it because I didn't want to pay $5 shipping. They lost a sale.
@cengland0 sorry but it does. double fail Anti-quitsies. Quitsies. No anti-quitsies. No startsies...stamp it! double stamp it, no erasies! triple stamp, no erasies, Touch blue make it true. infinity +1
@joelmw Hey, we were at the Happiest Place on Earth yesterday and on the walk to Fantasyland from Frontierland, I was reminded of you. I yelled out "hey, look, it's @joelmw!"
Last month I found a video on youtube covering the 1982 summer CES in Chicago. This seems like as good a place as any to share it. My favorite part is the use of Herb Alpert's Rise over the closing credits, but it's all gold.
I bought 3 of these 90 watt DC to DC adapters. I see the primary output is switchable between 19.5 volts and 16 volts. The other output provides 5 volts at 2 amps. It is not clear to me if both outputs are usable at the same time.
These are designed for use in cars and other vehicles with similar power jacks. The spec that says "DC input 12-15V" is clearly conservative. The device must work over a wider range, or the reviews would be screaming about how it cuts out. Anyone know what the true minimum voltage is?
The nominal 12 volt battery in my robot drops down to about 8 volts when accelerating.
@givemeyoursoul People expect to be able to use their laptop in the car when the engine is not running. Drivers are strongly advised against using their laptops while the vehicle is in motion. A very normal use case would be to stop at a rest stop, turn off the engine and fire up the laptop. (In some vehicles you need to turn the key to "accessory" to turn on the 12v outlet without starting the engine. Your vehicle may differ.) And thanks @Kyser_Soze. What additional features does my (sometimes) autonomous 4 wheeled skid steer mobile platform need in order to qualify as a robot without the quote marks?
@hamjudo I would have expected the use case to be charge while driving, use the battery while parked. Also, even a parked car battery provides more than 12v. The only time that isn't true is when the battery is dead or during startup.
woolen-blissful-room meh, in for 1. One of my sons friends asked my son to format and set up his laptop, except the kid can't find the power cord for it. Hopefully this will work for his laptop, and then I'll just have him pay me for it. It's been sitting at my house for a month now and he still hasn't found a cord or bought a new one.
@remo28 I hope you noticed that this does not plug into home AC at all. The kid will be happy if he only uses the laptop in a car or on a plane. Also, if a friend of one of my kids wanted me to setup their laptop and it has no power cord, my suspicion sense would be triggered because stolen laptops may not work without being "setup" and usually don't come with a power cord!
@Kyser_Soze yeah I saw that. I do have an adapter for an outlet that takes a car lighter plug. I know the kid and the story behind he laptop, and his parents, etc. So there isn't any issue with it being stolen, he says he got some virus and tried to fix it himself and made it worse. And the cord could be anywhere, friends house, friends car, school, closet, who knows. It's an older gateway with bad specs. And if the cord won't work for it we have Dells and HPs of our own it will work on.
I just made a.."buttoned-abashed-move" ..and ordered one of these. But why? Maybe I can use it to power speaker docks in the car? Or power the Rock Speakers in the back of my pick up?
I am sure (and Mediocre, please correct me if you, in any way, can defend yourself) that any product offered under $10 (maybe $15) is only being purchased by VMP members. It is NOT because they actually want the item, but because they feel a sense of sheepish obligation to buy SOMETHING in a given month to justify the $60 annual fee. If you offered this for $5 and it was $1, maybe $2 for shipping, your sales for the given item would skyrocket. But your effort to demonstrate to outside investors that you have this recurring income stream of VMP $ somehow helps you sleep at night no matter how flawed the policy. Ok, I’ve said my piece (peace?) and can doze off knowing that, although I have not solved world peace (piece?) I have done my part to address corporate greed and poor corporate policy.
@twz Unless it's @unixrab purchasing it, most people would become VMP members during their purchase (if they are not VMP members already) so that would mean that the majority of people making every purchase regardless of price is a VMP member.
@twz You want poor corporate policy? Try this site; woot.com! Other than jumping on the face-YUCK bandwagon, meh is doing just fine. They have lots of junk for higher prices, nothing wrong with some junk at lower ones! In fact, many of us come here every day looking for that offbeat "thing" that is cheap, yet useful (speaker dock anyone?). Today's offering certainly falls into that category. If I needed it, I'd probably be ordering 3 of 'em, VMP member or not. In fact, as I think about it, as a VMP member, I'd be LESS likely to buy 3, as I wouldn't be trying to reduce the cost per item as much as possible. While I may be in the minority, the VMP could actually be costing meh some $$'s, the opposite of your point. But then again, something tells me you probably use face-yuck right? LOLz.
@twz $5 a month for unlimited shipping is corporate greed that you have the choice at any time to purchase or cancel? Man you must really hate like all other businesses then who force you to pay $35, $50 or more to obtain free shipping once on items that are not even greatly discounted.
@beachhead (to channel Dan Ackroyd), “You ignorant slut”. If you did any research, you would realize that, if a VMP buys only one item a month (which they questionably need), they are paying $5 for shipping and lose any benefit of participation however, if they buy 10 items (in your case the aforementioned speaker docks offered twice a week), then Meh loses as they cannot possibly ship each item for only 50 cents profitably. The balance between weight, size, and cost to ship should be commiserate with the item’s purchase price. Hence an item that Meh charges $2 to purchase and $1 to ship (in a #10 envelope) I would buy, for example, the USB keychain charging adapter however, at $2 plus $5, I will not. You may make an argument (as you vainly try) that I can buy 10 of these and the economics MAY work, however, needing even one of these is questionable and certainly out of the question with $5 shipping. (and your Woot insult is well placed as I too am disgusted with the site and applaud Matt’s hutzpah (in keeping with the Meh linguistics) to leave. My last Woot purchase was shortly after his arrival at Amazon and shortly before Amazon’s pathetic attempt to ape the daily deal foundation by offering dozens of not-so-great deals).
@twz "come on man", I LOL'ed it at the end! That makes it ok right? But you are right...they are making up the shipping somewhere in thier pricing structure. But we can all probably agree that Matt is some sort of marketing guru, and has it all figured out.
@dashcloud no outside investors? where do they get the credit needed to purchase all those speaker docks? (please don't say "the bank" ... at least suggest "Wall Street").
@PocketBrain nice call out, my bad ... "commensurate" is what i meant however, (as you aptly point out) commiserate on Meh is sometimes more appropriate (as any Mediocre employee may attest to).
OK, so it is a 90 watt inverter without the ability to plug in various other 120 volt devices. But that 2.1 amp USB port is worth 5 bucks alone. So the bag of laptop bits becomes a minor-worrisome-newt.
The last product photo really bothers me, because it's impossible for the setup depicted to occur normally (baby arm excepted). The product description says it won't work with Macs, and yet we have a laptop running Safari that doesn't look like a Mac, but is using the Mac version of Safari (note the icons in the upper-left hand corner). Why go through all this trouble and not just use a real Macbook?
@dashcloud Becausee that image looks like they took an existing product shot from the manufacturer and just pasted in a screenshot and a babyarm. Unless @snapster took this photo on one of his numerous private jets that is...
@Teripie Target one for price alone + double hard drive size... of course it really depends on what you're gonna use it for... both are suitable for trolling meh.com/forums ;-)

@xEBRONx gah I know. Waste of 30 minutes.
@xEBRONx Facebook Meh is your friend. https://www.facebook.com/WeAreMeh

nice deal but i don't really need it.
@annwat ... and that's why you buy some. It's not that you need it now, but you might need it someday and it's only $5 now.
@annwat Oh you wise one! You have spoken the great Mantra of Mediocre labs -"nice deals on material objects nobody really needs".
@narfcake point well taken but i made a new year's resolution to try to cut down on my "oh, i may need that some day" impulse buys and would hate to report that my resolution only lasted four days. once i get my junk room (verging on hoarder) cleared maybe i'll change back to my old ways.
So, since I bought the car power adapter a while back...Meh.
Also, you might have to add some Lenovo laptops to your "does not work with" list. I didn't see this power tip in your pic.

Sweet. An iPhone 3. Meh.
It also won't work with a Surface Pro 3. That has a weird connector also. Guess I need a "real" power inverter for that one.
@IcedCorn you saying you missed the inverters last month?
I'm thinking of getting a couple of these. I like the idea of using this in an airplane and it might make a nice gift for someone (or some people if I decide I don't want one of my own).

Smh.
@joelmw
@joelmw I came here to accept your apology, but must now redirect the castigation toward your new GIF. Puppies and rainbows? Really???
Go team!
@VeeDubTDI
@joelmw Apology for not apologizing for your apology accepted!
@KDemo One could argue that I overuse the winky. That sounds wrong. I meant the winky emoticon.
@Cinoclav You don't think that dolphins are entitled to express their individual sexual inclinations?
@joelmw Let's just say it's a little difficult to tell the sex of a dolphin. I'd really prefer not to discuss it any further on the advice of my therapist.
Even the servers rejected this mehss.
VMP BAIT!!!! DO IT!
@unixrab So far Meh = 779, @unixrab = 0
@cengland0 did you buy it?
All sold before noon.
@unixrab No. I've got the Cobra inverter and only one cigarette lighter socket.
@cengland0 "they lost a sale" but you saved money on something that wasn't worth the shipping..... now... do that here. wash. rinse. repeat.
@unixrab sorry but your analogy does not work here. Fail!
@cengland0 sorry but it does. double fail Anti-quitsies. Quitsies. No anti-quitsies. No startsies...stamp it! double stamp it, no erasies! triple stamp, no erasies, Touch blue make it true. infinity +1
sugary-low-nacho
@hippiechik I like this more than I probably should...
And my apologies for the fuckup, Mehicans.
@joelmw Hey, we were at the Happiest Place on Earth yesterday and on the walk to Fantasyland from Frontierland, I was reminded of you. I yelled out "hey, look, it's @joelmw!"
@lisaviolet Awww. You really are too sweet. :-)
Last month I found a video on youtube covering the 1982 summer CES in Chicago. This seems like as good a place as any to share it. My favorite part is the use of Herb Alpert's Rise over the closing credits, but it's all gold.
@mossygreen Too funny. A $10,000 30" Sony Tinitron! I should've bought 2!
@mossygreen I like watching vintage videos like this to look at hair styles, clothing, cars, and editing techniques.
@hamjudo A running passenger vehicle always produces 13.5+ V.
@givemeyoursoul Tru, but @hamjudo was talking about their "robot".
@givemeyoursoul A parked car provides more than 12v at first. The battery voltage will drop with use. You can buy a "battery saver" like this over priced version http://www.amazon.com/Koolatron-12-volt-Battery-Saver-Kt-bs/dp/B0001MQ7FO to prevent draining the battery so far that it won't be able to start the car.
woolen-blissful-room meh, in for 1.
Did you mean: site:woot.com/blog "Jason Toonces
Power connector looks like it goes to a Wii U. I had my hopes up :( That would have been sweet for the kids during road trips.
@Khaztr you can always get an inverter.
This POS probably ain't capable of charging any of your laptops...
meh. I really need one of these to replace the ones that the dog keeps chewing up, but it has to plug into the wall socket.
Probably worst then the rock speakers. meh!
Boring Boring Boring...mind numbingly boring
@twz WHAT THE WHAT!? are you real!??? People will say I've created two (three if you count @snapster) accounts just to eff with everyone!
Two minutes hate for @twz!
j/k ;-)
@twz That's so cute that you think there are outside investors or even investors interested in Meh.
@dashcloud Didn't a bunch of folks pony up some cash for the creation of some daily deal site? Would they be considered investors?
@narfcake Kickstarter is REALLY clear on "you're not an investor" part- that's only for people with actual financial stakes in stuff.
and amazon charges $100 yearly due all at once, I like this better
@twz commensurate, not commiserate. Commiserate is what we do here in the forums.
@twz "come on man", I LOL'ed it at the end! That makes it ok right? But you are right...they are making up the shipping somewhere in thier pricing structure. But we can all probably agree that Matt is some sort of marketing guru, and has it all figured out.
@unixrab excellent post ... trust nothing, question everything. if that doesn't work, well, f&%* it. (umm, that's "fuck it" for the woot readers here)
@dashcloud no outside investors? where do they get the credit needed to purchase all those speaker docks? (please don't say "the bank" ... at least suggest "Wall Street").
@PocketBrain nice call out, my bad ... "commensurate" is what i meant however, (as you aptly point out) commiserate on Meh is sometimes more appropriate (as any Mediocre employee may attest to).
@twz "In June 2010, Amazon acquired Woot for a reported $110 million" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Rutledge @Snapster probably got a huge share of that $110,000,000 and spent some of it on invintory
You forgot the bullet for those of us who go to CES and have to put up with it as well
@jd my favorite thing about going to ces was taking a taxi downtown to play craps...
@Headly Meh.... could be.
If you camp off the grid and bring one of those multipurpose battery boosters that includes a car power port this kit could be a handy addition.
No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh.
@jrwofuga That's my boy!
I love purple.
I have an urge to buy a cheap laptop. I need advice. This thing from Target. Or this one from best Buy
@Teripie Target one for price alone + double hard drive size... of course it really depends on what you're gonna use it for... both are suitable for trolling meh.com/forums ;-)
@unixrab Thanks, that what I thought too. Just want something that gets me away from this desk.
@Teripie they're both nicely mediocre. ABBB.
@Teripie i agree with @redoak . they both suck processor wise, if you really want a decent laptop under $300, i would go used, like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-Lenovo-L420-Core-i5-2520M-2-5GHz-4GB-RAM-320GB-HD-Win-7-Pro-64-bit-/121432097284?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Latitude-E6410-14-1-Core-i7-620M-2-67-GHz-8GB-500GB-nVidia-Win-7-pro-/271731128698?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item3f446ff97a
I hate to agree with what's-his-name, but I'd go for the Target one too.
@hallmike c'mon man! ;-)
@unixrab
@communist amirite!?
Congratulations on the sellout Meh. You really did a great job with this product.
where do I find if my item has shippedm
@pkimkpop https://meh.com/orders
just got my adapter today and I have a flight tomorrow. MEH your the best.
