Inflatable of the Day 4/8
16This one is a bit late, my apologies! This time we feature a movie tie-in toy made by Intex for Disney: Dusty Crophopper from the film Planes! This inflatable was released shortly after the movie itself was, in 2013. I’m actually not sure if he was ever intended for sale to the North American market, because I never saw them for sale in stores here, and I had to import mine from Germany. The character Dusty Crophopper in the film is based on an Air Tractor AT-502 crop dusting turboprop, and the inflatable version does a pretty good job of replicating his shape and details. He’s replete with racing paint job, ‘Jolly Wrenches’ insignia, landing lights, engine exhaust, and separately inflating propeller. (Dusty has a total of four air chambers: main fuselage, left wing, right wing, and prop.) He’s a bit shy of 4 feet long, with the same wingspan; the perfect size for a young rider in the pool. I acquired my Dusty mostly as a display; in addition to trains, I’m also a huge airplane fanatic. (Plus, that negative pinch seam where his vertical stabilizer meets his fuselage looks like trouble if I were to put my weight on him!)

That is beautiful!
And I like that you use “vertical stabilizer” when most of us would’ve said “tail fin thingie”. TIL:
@stolicat I’m a huge avgeek, so I tend to use the technical terms without even realizing it half the time
Okay now that’s cool. The movie was fun and so is this guy. Nice!
@Bandrik I really do love the film, it’s one of my favorites!
Can the propeller spin?
@Limewater Unfortunately no, due to how it’s attached to his nose.
