Inflatable of the Day 4/22
12Who’s that Pokémon?? It’s today’s inflatable of the day, Arcanine! This big firedog toy was made by Hongyi, the same company that made my huge winged wolf Zephyr. I named him Brutus. He stands almost 8 feet tall and has separate air chambers for his legs, tail, and mane. He’s an impressive sight, but suffers from paint issues - it will rub off when wet! For this reason, Brutus doesn’t get to come out and play very much. His vinyl is very soft and comfy, though! In the Pokémon animated TV series and video games, Arcanine evolves from Growlithe, and was always one of my favorites.

@sammydog01 Pokemon!
Aww, he’s going to sleep in that last photo - like I should be doing. Very nice coloration!
@Kyeh He’s simply amazing to snuggle up with when he’s all soft like that. Makes a great place to sleep! His colors are really nice…I just wish they’d stay on :c
@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf
Is there any way to stabilize the colors?
@f00l @Kyeh Not that I’m aware of, other than to clearcoat the entire surface, which would be expensive and would change the texture and appearance.
That last picture answers a question I had, which was what do you use to blow them up. I see the pump in that picture. Do you have a battery operated handheld pump too? Seems that would make life easy.
@cinoclav I used various rechargeable and even D cell powered ones for a while, but none of them worked well or for very long…not long enough to fully inflate anything larger than Fenris one time! I settled on using an AC pump, which when away from electrical outlets, is powered by my Carter rotary converter (Dynamotor) and a large 12-volt sealed lead battery. I also have an inverter, to use the pump in a vehicle. I also use a large Intex Double Quick III double-acting hand pump, to inflate the chambers with smaller air valves that would overheat an electric pump.
Here’s the AC electric pump I use. It’s small, quieter than an upright vacuum cleaner, and moves a ton of air: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283793181120
And a tip of the hat for When Eight Bells Toll. That was the book I read when I was a kid that hooked me on the whole detective-secret agent genre.
@TrophyHusband That one’s next on my list, after Ice Station Zebra! They came from the book collection of my late grandmother.
