It’s fairly simple, you drag and drop to make things. Try dropping fire on water and continue mixing it up.
Sometimes the stuff you make doesn’t make sense, but it’s fun to keep finding stuff to mix.

Great fun. Smoke and fossil made dinosaur.
I love this game. It gets really fun as it goes on, especially once you get into pop culture things. (Hint: try to find your way to ‘magic’)

@dave I found the Cthulicorn, but have yet to unlock goblin.
If you mix s’mores and a mummy you get a s’mummy.
A sandwich and a bee makes a bee sandwich.
Yeah, some of these combos are wacky, but others are really fun to find.

Mermaid + Aquaman made a Baby!
For me it seemed like just about every combination after it had been going a while made Bob Marley.
Lobster Thermidor aux Crevettes seems to be impossible to combine with anything.
I discovered Sharknado. I feel like that’s all I needed to get out of this.
Lobster Thermidor au Gratin with Melted Iceberg also resists combining with anything else.
If you haven’t tried it yet, on some of them you can drop multiple of the same thing and it will keep evolving.
I have achieved “eternal life” everything else seems inconsequential now.
