@narfcake Well why not? Nylon usually is, if its percentage in the fabric is high enough. If you guys could shower one of these as a test, could help some of us make purchases. I could really use a waterproof backpack.

@djslack@ShotgunX That can waterproof the fabric, but it wouldn’t keep water from seeping through the zipper – which is another aspect. If there was an intention of water resistance, the zippers would be concealed under a flap.

@davidwr99 I would see if you can have it shipped directly to the charity as the shipping costs alone (for regular consumers) would probably cost more than the backpack. Just have meh ship it to an alternate address.

I have this exact backpack and it has worked well for 4 years. Things to consider:
the bigger Nylon backpack has the 5th pocket facing the lower back when you wear it. It’s not shown in the picture but the pocket is visually hidden by the strap.
the bottom of the interior laptop sleeve IS NOT PADDED so you can definitely dent your laptop if you just carelessly drop your backpack to the ground.
the bottom of the backpack has the same thin padding as all around on the backpack.
putting things into the smaller compartment really eats up room in the main compartment. I usually put chargers and power banks in that compartment and find that it really hinders how much I can put into the main compartment.

I have this exact backpack and it has worked well for 4 years. Things to consider:
