My current streak was manipulated so that the streak number is exactly 1500 less than the accumulated total. I now have to make sure I click on only one disco ball per Mehrathon day.
@jouest@werehatrack I suppose obsessive-compulsive. Freud might have other diagnoses as well. In particular the obsession with disco balls. Sometimes a banana is just a banana…
forever haunted by the reality of what could’ve been
It’s the way I was brought up. It’s hard to get out of your head once it’s in there, especially when beat (not physically) into you as a child. Took some stuff happening (in retrospect not that bad; just life going on) to break through it. Seriously, anybody going through that, find friends, and find yourself. I found it in the emptiness of Wyoming. Most probably won’t because they might freeze. Sorry to get all deep on you guys, all about button clicks (?) weird, huh?
forever haunted by the reality of what could’ve been
This is a pit that I dare not enter; that way lies despair so deep that the only defense is to just never think about what might have been. I have come to recognize myself very late in life, but that is preferable to never doing so at all. (And, honestly, I didn’t realistically have a choice early on; I wasn’t even equipped to understand that there was a choice. Much has changed for the better, but there are people trying very hard to undo it all.)
I really liked back in the days when we could see all the different click faces since day one. Then there was the t-shirt of a year’s worth of click faces that was sold. Now seeing only a month at a time is sad and then having them vanish. It is interesting to see what people come up with for the daily faces.
And to think at one point meh was going to do away with them as the community highjacked the original purpose of the meh button (which was to click if you disliked the product that day) and turned it in to a contest of sorts to keep your streak alive.
@jouest Of course trying to get a streak and then maintain it brings people back to meh in ways I’d imagine snapster (or whomever came up with the idea) didn’t initially imagine.
@Kidsandliz They did if I remember correctly and responded to community ire and put it back. When they first put it back you could only see your streak if you were over a week.
My guess is if they vanish it they can reuse the images as needed
I lost my streak at 2198 and after a brief period of mourning thought what the fuck is wrong with me that I had to click daily for six years. I remember camping on an island and wandering around for a signal to click the stupid button. And traveling in foreign countries searching for free wifi for a click.
And yet of course I started again. But I’ve missed a few and it’s ok.
@sammydog01 I do wonder if there is anyone still chugging along. I know at some point in the past someone said there was a limited number of people over a certain streak
the final, and most important stage, is acceptance
I’d imagine that meh could make a small fortunate if meh click faces could be bought to fill in, umm, “gaps”. This was suggested in the past. Also being able to sell gift someone some of your meh clicks…
@djslack The button that can be pushed is the only true button. The button that gives the illusion of being pushed is not a button. The button that pushes back is the antibutton. In reality, there is no button; the matrix provides you with the idea of the button, and you create it for yourself.
My only post was about the button. A couple days into joining I asked “do the flashing eyes mean anything?” and it was one of the girls (Kyeh? Star?) that responded “best question eva” and I thought - right on, these are my kind of people.
It means, “I wonder what weird thing the team came up with for today’s meh face.”
Also, I like to try to beat my last streak. I’m failing pretty hard so far this year, though.
@Thumperchick infinite smilies are hard.
@jouest @Thumperchick I have embraced failure.
I feel much better since I gave up hope. Well, streak anyway.
My current streak was manipulated so that the streak number is exactly 1500 less than the accumulated total. I now have to make sure I click on only one disco ball per Mehrathon day.
@werehatrack this feels like an intimidating amount of responsibility
@jouest @werehatrack I suppose obsessive-compulsive. Freud might have other diagnoses as well. In particular the obsession with disco balls. Sometimes a banana is just a banana…
@jouest @werehatrack I disagree. It means that any missed buttons can be reclaimed on a Mehrathon!
it means I gotta figure out something else to do with my life now
@spitfire6006006 Have you considered piracy? You’d make an excellent Dread Pirate Roberts…
@spitfire6006006 you can always just start over. It’s not like you will be forever haunted by the reality of what could’ve been…
@jouest @spitfire6006006
This is so easy to fall into:
It’s the way I was brought up. It’s hard to get out of your head once it’s in there, especially when beat (not physically) into you as a child. @pmarin @spitfire6006006 well damn
@jouest @pmarin @spitfire6006006 Meh: Cut price psychoanalysis.
@werehatrack sure, I do plenty of that. Oh you mean like, in a boat. For legal purposes, this is a joke
@pmarin

@blaineg @jouest @pmarin @spitfire6006006 Do we still have to pay $6 for shipping?
@lisagd
@blaineg @jouest @pmarin @spitfire6006006
It’s delivered electronically except when distilled spirits are involved. I don’t know how that’s handled.
@spitfire6006006
/showme a sad goat playing a violin with a fire in the background
@jouest @lisagd @pmarin @spitfire6006006
One of the deep and imponderable questions.
I really liked back in the days when we could see all the different click faces since day one. Then there was the t-shirt of a year’s worth of click faces that was sold. @Kidsandliz lake sandcastles in the wind (or something)

@Cerridwyn @Kidsandliz image reuse would be scandalous
@Cerridwyn @jouest @Kidsandliz Tonight’s image with the animated blowing leaves is super cool!
I lost my streak at 2198 and after a brief period of mourning thought what the fuck is wrong with me that I had to click daily for six years. I remember camping on an island and wandering around for a signal to click the stupid button. And traveling in foreign countries searching for free wifi for a click.

/giphy it’s ok
@sammydog01 the final, and most important stage, is acceptance
@sammydog01 What a great giphy.
@sammydog01 I do wonder if there is anyone still chugging along. I know at some point in the past someone said there was a limited number of people over a certain streak

Thanks @lichme wherever you are.
@2many2no And there’s this:
The button is to be avoided at all costs
@djslack The button that can be pushed is the only true button. The button that gives the illusion of being pushed is not a button. The button that pushes back is the antibutton. In reality, there is no button; the matrix provides you with the idea of the button, and you create it for yourself.
The matrix does not exist.
The matrix is the only thing that exists.
/showme antibutton
/showme An antibutton
@mediocrebot I guess it’s like a belly button, either an innie or an outie.
A job for artists and animators.
One thing I manage to be consistent about (with one slip-up since starting.)
My only post was about the button. A couple days into joining I asked “do the flashing eyes mean anything?” and it was one of the girls (Kyeh? Star?) that responded “best question eva” and I thought - right on, these are my kind of people.
@ladyhawke001 Wasn’t me, but good!
@ladyhawke001 your people are here. and they’re pushing buttons.
@jouest @ladyhawke001 Thank, you my people! I’m so glad I have some people now. I always wanted to use the line “have your people call my people”
