@thismyusername I assume somewhere in there is a “just turn the fucker off” option? That’s the one I always go with as I have yet to find a computer capable of putting up with my, ahh, let’s say creative command of the English language.
Autocorrect likes to do last second corrections, usually right before I hit SEND, and with some mighty embarrassing results.
I just wish I could get Siri, or whatever Apple app uses for their dictation, to understand my faintly Southern accent. For the life of me, no matter how I attempt to pronounce the word enormous, my iphone will write: “in Norma’s”, “and Norma’s”, “and Ormus”, “in Ormus” and finally "anonymous."
Holy hell! My accent isn’t THAT bad. I’ve even clicked the “how is this pronounced” sound thingy on the online dictionary to see how my phone interprets the word said. The result? “in Norments.”
Autocorrect is entirely responsible to oil my mizspeakings, MS.pellings, in-grahamcracker usages, ill-logiaicks, uninwilliamtelligibiles, and other ritten atro-cities and atro-suburbs.
someone i know works in the neuroscience field. said person was going for drinks after work with some neuro friends. autocorrect had this person meet up with some negro friends instead

Is Apple English an updated version of (literary) Newspeak?

Let’s play Strangers on a Train. I’ll kill autocorrect for you if you kill captcha for me.

Hey cranky one try this:
settings, general, reset, reset keyboard dictionary
That will make it “unlearn” any bad habits it has been taught over the years… also check out
settings, general, dictionary
make sure its on american and apple english
and if you have some weird replacements happening, and others might have access to your phone to mess with you check out
setting, general, keyboard, text replacement
and make sure they didn’t change any in there… the classic trick is to make Yes no and No yes

@nogoodwithnames yes…
settings, general, keyboards
under “all keyboards” flip “auto correction” to OFF
if you also don’t want it to alerted to wrong speelings you will also want to flick “check spelling” and “predictive” to OFF as well.

@LaVikinga
SIRI is subtly letting us know that we are inferior, SIRI is superior.
Has nothing to do with regionality. Has to do with species.
Yes that’s wrong. Blame the goat instead.
(What is autocowreck changing your words to?)
@narfcake It seems like anything it feels like
jsut turn itnoff you wont ened it. forminstance isn type jeutnfine withiutit,
Your problem is that now if someone, anyone does that you have left a paper trail and the goat won’t be able to save you…
@cranky1950
But autocorrect and captcha will be dead, so it would be worth it.

@Yoda_Daenerys Long way to go for that one.
Autocorrect turned my neoroscientist into my negro scientist.
@Yoda_Daenerys Autocorrect is racist.
