i want to go there. Bali, that is...
11as some of you may know, i got married this past April, and i am still currently married. to celebrate this 5 months of marriage, we have decided to go to Bali in Feb of 2024 for about 9-10 days. well… that and we decided to take a late honeymoon.
hotel wise, we are thinking the Nusa Dua area. i know, it’s more touristy, but we’ve planned to take a few day trips/excursions (snorkeling, jungle tour, temple tour, etc). we’ve found a couple good deals on luxury escapes (mmm… private plunge pool for… umm… “plunging”), but we’re open to ideas.
so, world travelers of meh, what do you have for me? i know Feb is still considered rainy season, but most of what i’ve read is that showers are brief (but sometimes torrential).

my best advice?
pull a Nike and Just DO It!
Travel is one of my favorite things to do. Just reviewed our calendar for the next 16 months as we booked some airfare for next summer. We have 8 distinct trips planned including 3 of 2-4 weeks each out of the country…
Memories are meant to be made.
@chienfou we both love to travel, so we’re definitely fucking going! it’s just a matter of where we want to stay. neither of us has been, so we’re in the info gathering phase. next year is going to be busy with some weddings, so we wanted to get in at least one long trip on our own.
now, if we were going to Seychelles again, we’d know exactly where to stay!
@carl669
Trip adviser is a good resource…
But keep in mind:
1: they will be warm
2: a bad day at the beach is generally still better than a good day at work
3:
a) every tourist wishes for excellent/dry/sunny weather
b) there are tourists there every day
c) people in Bali need it to rain to keep the island lush etc. Sometimes it is just YOUR turn to be there on the rain day.
4: be open to the new experiences that this too shall bring.
Above all have fun with your bride
@chienfou we’re both very adaptable and go with the flow travelers, so the rain part didn’t really bother us.
there’s so many different areas to stay in, we hoped someone here would have thoughts. I’ve looked at travel forums, but honestly, some people there are just way too condescending if you say you’re staying in particular areas.
@carl669
I’ve never been to the South Pacific (though Bali and/or Tahiti are on our bucket list). Therefore I can’t give you any person experience. Consider a good travel book like the DK Eyewitness series. I have found them to be a wealth of information when I’m traveling in Europe and South/Central America. Excellent advise and full of amazing pictures…
There used to be an awesome website called stuffyourrucksack.com. Their mission was to put travelers in touch with developing nation NGOs. Once you made contact with them they would give you a punch list of items they needed that were expensive or out of their reach locally. We took about 45 lb of stuff to an orphanage in St Lucia that way a couple of times. Things like paracetamol (Tylenol), nappies (diapers), ink for printers, small electronics (wifi router) etc.That was super rewarding. Not sure if there is anyone doing that kind of stuff any more…
You have a great opportunity to be an “ambassador” for the US. Make the most of it.
VAN MURALS! GROUND SQUIRRELS! SPIT CURLS! AWESOME!

Is Bali your only option? You could try checking out different places to travel. One in my bucket list is going to Singapore & Japan, that’s why I make some research about it.
Enjoy your honeymoon!

Hah - here it is, finally - after a bunch of strange comments elsewhere, the spam bomb.
@Kyeh I took out the link and we’ll call this “strike one” since there’s a small but not-zero chance the comments are legit.
@ExtraMedium @Kyeh I was just asking if @carl996 have other option? It was timing that I was researching about it. I’m just making a suggestion.
Just came back two days ago. GO!
Bali was awesome, we went 20 years ago. Multiple great things, but we loved the Jimbaran Beach restaurants. Basically, they walk you through the storefront, where you select your fish from ice chest, they walk you out to the beach and you sit on picnic tables to eat. Not a $$$$ high end thing, but was such a fun experience, eating on the beach, watching the sunset and fresh seafood.
POPSOCKETS! SPROCKETS! DAVY CROCKETT! AWESOME!
@kykazaa that sounds like much more fun than a fancy place.
