@hchavers@werehatrack yeah for a while I wanted Richard Branson hair and was told sorry just no not enough to work with. Not length but just too fine, not enough body.
A hairdresser who doesn’t feel like they are forced to make conversation with me. Let’s just be quiet and listen to the sounds of the scissors and such.
@LaserEyes I work in a Cuban neighborhood. I don’t speak Spanish. I often go to a barbershop near work for this exact reason. Can’t talk to me if we can’t understand each other.
I’ve been going to him since I was roughly 15, so he is more of a big sister than anything
He taught me
how to apply make up
how to wax
The right way to apply false eyelashes
The right way to wear a wig and how fun they can be
How to contour one’s legs w the right layering of pantyhose (he use to be a drag queen)
He is teaching me how to highlight
His shop is my playground if I choose
He know what cut and color I need and just does it. He doesn’t ask and I don’t fuss. I trust him completely
About 5 yrs ago he decided to move home. About 2 hrs outside of STL to the foothills of the Ozark mtns. I was devistated. I begged him to stay, but he needed to move home.
So my mom, my sister and I take that drive to see him, give him a hug and all our love and to get our hair done. It is worth it and good for the soul
@milstarr@tinamarie1974 It’s good to support people like that get your “vibe,” and maybe a good reason for a road trip. I only do hair stuff about once a year or so, so seems reasonable to make into an expedition.
@milstarr@pmarin I am bleased to have him for sure! And I wear my hair long so I only do the trek every nine weeks. My mom, OTOH, has short hair so she goes every three weeks. Her and my dad do 2 of the 3 road trips solo, and she and I (and usually my sister/niece as well) make a day of that third one.

That definitely reminded me of my old hair dresser (not the drag queen part) he was my dad’s best from when they were young, I grew up with his children, we spent every weekend together. Sadly he died a while back. Your very lucky to have a hairdresser like that.
One that knows how to cut curly hair and isn’t learning off mine. It’s very nerve reckoning. Since my dads friend (my original hairdresser) past away about a decade ago (he had stopped doing hair years before that bc he was sick) I’ve had 7 different hair dresser. They keep hiring these fresh out of beauty school people who live far away and after their year is up they go to a shop by their home. Beauty school doesn’t really teach you how to cut curly hair (they cut real hair in beauty school not enough curly hair is donated). I get a huge discount for letting them learn off my hair but I’m just sick of it. I want someone who just knows how to cut my hair and is up to date on current trends.
One like mine that does a great cut and beard trim, plus a shampoo/scalp massage. Mine also does a Reiki energy thing during the scalp massage. I always end up feeling fresh and energized.
Can do a good job cutting my crappy hair.
I want a hairdresser who is a magician
Knows how my hair naturally falls and to cut to make it look good.
@hchavers If I had enough to work with, this would be high on my list of criteria.

Cuts the hair of anyone who does not cut anyone else’s.
One who doesn’t forget their glasses.

@LaserEyes
This!
I just want to shut my eyes and veg-out [which BTW is the only way I’ll ever participate in being a Veg** in any way…]

/showme a great hairdresser that does a very good job
Gives me the haircut I ask for.
@Kyeh No kidding. I cut my own hair since COVID because they always cut it too short.
Doesn’t care that I’m never going to go in there…
The one I already have.

@tinamarie1974 You are very lucky!

One that actually does what I ask them to do.

/showme a hairdresser who cuts hair and pays the customer because they enjoy cutting hair so much.
@mediocrebot $9… Is that all cutting my hair is worth… Oh well, I’ll take it, it’s better than having to pay.
@mediocrebot @OnionSoup And no tip?
