@phendrick Really though? You never wash your hair without showering? That’s one of my favorite things.
Some days I’ll smell myself, and if I’m not awful and got nothing going on, but also want to go to the corner store or something, I’ll do my hair quick in the wash basin. So people only wonder if I’m disgusting rather than knowing for sure. A little pro-tip there for you.
@RiotDemon No, and I had never even heard of it before about a year ago. Still don’t really know what it’s even for, but I assumed it was just to make your hair look less greasy if you skip a shower.
@Dweezle when you wash your hair a lot, your scalp makes more sebum (oil). So the more you wash, the worse it gets. Dry shampoo will absorb some of the sebum without causing your scalp to make a ton more. You might want to try it instead of a second wash during the day. After a few days of only one wash a day, you might try using the dry shampoo only for a day. The goal would be to calm your scalp.
I believe it originally started for people that were unable to physically wash their hair often. Hospitalized, etc.
@Dweezle@RiotDemon I can confirm Dweezle’s advice. My hair was the type to either be super dry after shampooing, then super oily just a few hours later. I cut down the number of times I shampooed each week, and (after a 2 week adjustment period I think) it began to be much more manageable. I just rinse it out with warm/hot water every time I shower, shampoo every week or so, more if I’m getting a bunch of dust/dirt in it, and I’m good.
@brumagem@Dweezle@RiotDemon It is similar to oily skin as well. Soap/shampoo are usually drying so the scalp/skin produces oil. Adding a good facial oil will tell the body to stop producing oil over time and I suppose it would work for the scalp as well. It may get worse before it gets better… I believe it takes the body as long as 6 weeks for the system to change over.
I SHAMPOO MY HAIR WITH A COMPOUND THE NSA STOLE FROM THE AIR FORCE WHICH THEY FOUND AT AREA 51 MIXED WITH TEA TREE OIL!!! IT’S AMAZING!!! BUY IT IN MY STORE!!!
Shampooing my hair is very accurate, I have to cut it every few weeks or I look like old sweet pea.
Ha, Mediocrebot said poo
@nolrak “shampoo” = sham + poo – is that fake doodoo?
I shampoo every shower and I usually shower every day… Just not today.
I shave every shower and I usually shower every day… But not today (I usually shower after work…)
@aetris
I try to never shave. The beard is a natural result and proof that inaction is really an action.
It’s reciprocal: I also shower every time I wash my hair, in case mediocrebot wants to be nosy about that.
@phendrick
Sounds like a vicious cycle … fourteen hours later:
“When the hell are you going to be done?!”
“I’ll be out as soon as I shower and wash my hair, and wash my hair and shower, and … ”
@nolrak @phendrick It’s that “Rinse, repeat” that gets you.

I’m the first “Actually never.”
No Poo Life
@onae not for me
Twice, every time I shower. My head makes an absurd amount of grease. Even with my hair short, I still need to wash my hair/scalp twice.
@Dweezle have you tried dry shampoo?

Since most of my hair is now below my neck line, I wash my hair every time I shower.
@hchavers
/giphy long hair
A lot people wash their hair every shower. Must be mostly dudes on here.
@kittykat9180
I confirm that suspicion… At least for myself.
@kittykat9180 how dare you assume my prefered slang. I’m highly offended.
No hair = No shampoo

Y’all either aren’t showering enough or are washing your hair too often
@TheGreatNico Or maybe our head/hair is just greasier than others…
When I was younger I had to wash it about every other day. Now, it gets washed about every 5 days or I can’t do anything with it.
Pro tip. Lather up and leave the shampoo in your hair whilst washing the rest of your body. It’s what I do and I still have most of my hair.
@medz I do that but… with the conditioner in my hair.
