I have an idea..hear me out
10I’m pretty sure we’ve all thought about this…but I’m going to lay it out…in plan form…
an all IRK meh-rathon…that’s right…3-5 IRKS every 5 minutes…no repeats…you win one…you go away…or hang out on the boards and not whine for a change…(directed at no one in particular…unless you resemble that remark)
random shirts in a blind pick fashion for the hours that ppl need time away from the madness…
this is fully a win-win-win solution:
the warehouse gets cleaned out…
no more randos with their WAHHHHHH…I DIDNT GET AN IRK…WOE IS ME…
more time for random fun and games with the staff…like what ever happened to the werewolf/mafia game?
think about it…I can totally be the hero everyone never knew they always needed…you’re welcome…

The problem is that there are still 100 to 1 people that want an IRK than can get one. Meh is already pumping out 2000+ IRKs (swag), and they are still trying to make a profit on $5 Mystery Boxes/Loot Crates/IRKs, so it doesn’t make business sense.
@mike808 its not about making business sense…its about clearance and whining…I’m going to need hard numbers here…and I’m not opposed to Meh selling boxes of TX air…or maybe one can only get one IRK a month…a YEAR…a LIFETIME…seriously…lets make up some numbers…
@amehzinggrace @mike808
Meh would prob lose too much money on that unless they sharply limited the count of IRKs offered.
@f00l @mike808 OR…maybe ppl just get a bag…I’m willing to bet there’d be a run on a random colored bag…
and stop trying to poke holes in my carefully fixated plans…this is why we can’t have nice things…
@amehzinggrace @f00l @mike808 This is sort do-able: this last one had 19 offerings (by my count) of 478 total IRKS, varying from 21 to 30 per offering:
7 @ 30 = 210
1 @ 29 = 29
1 @ 26 = 26
1 @ 24 = 24
9 @ 21 = 189
If you did offerings of 3 IRKs every nine minutes over 24 hours, that would work out to 480 IRKS, about the same.
/giphy about the same
@amehzinggrace @f00l @mike808 @stolicat AND still only those with good internet, almost no latency, etc. would be the ones who’d get them - whether there are 21 or 5 of them. Or for that matter 50.
@amehzinggrace @f00l @Kidsandliz @mike808 @stolicat
I don’t know for sure what the secret is. Overall I have had good luck getting them and that is sometime home internet, sometimes work internet, sometime on phone in crappy service. I feel it is almost more of hitting the refresh button and a lucky time as it is changing over.
I wouldn’t mind if it went to some lottery system but would take my odds down quite a bit.
They did that once. Easter maybe?
Nope, 4/1/2018
@sammydog01 hahahaha…no seriously…
@amehzinggrace Easter was on April 1 that year.

@amehzinggrace @sammydog01
Wow!
Was there good stuff in them?
@amehzinggrace @Kyeh I don’t remember. I do remember sneaking my phone under the table at Easter lunch though.
@amehzinggrace @sammydog01
I assume you got one?
@amehzinggrace @Kyeh yep
@amehzinggrace @Kyeh @sammydog01 If it was April 2018 the one I got had a damaged box Shark stand up Vacuum cleaner, crappy used dash cam, Pivot wifi cam, crap drone, funny awkward family photo books and some more.
So overall… more random of stuff and more returns/damaged packaging items, not just leftovers from morningsave.
@amehzinggrace @raccoon81 @sammydog01 Oh, yuck. Did Morningsave exist yet?
@amehzinggrace @Kyeh @raccoon81 I think this is the right reveal thread:
https://meh.com/forum/topics/official-unofficial-meh-reveal-thread-fukobukuro-19
@amehzinggrace @raccoon81 @sammydog01 Thanks. Wow. That was a long thread and I only read part of it; some really good stuff here and there, so pretty much like other Mehrathon gleanings, evidently.
That would be cool except most likely as a cost savings it would be like woot’s BOC and each irk would be only 3 things. With the exception of the only BOC I was able to get which had 15 because it was their birthday.
I forget if I shared this idea here yet. But I thought an all IRK Meh-rathon could work if you didn’t have a timer. So the only to know if the IRKs are back in stock is to just check randomly.
@DoctorOW that’s evil and awesome!
VAN MURALS! GROUND SQUIRRELS! SPIT CURLS! AWESOME!
I see no practical solution to the problem of IRK inequity (which those who regularly have success in getting an IRK will, of course, pooh-pooh as whininess on the part of the unworthy and incapable) which does not involve putting a limit on the frequency of acquisition, and even that can’t be enforced because anyone could easily establish a new account for the purpose of getting more. So suck it up, IRK-endowed Buttercups, you are going to hear the griping from those who try diligently and often, but still get nothing, and that’s part of the price you pay for your “success”. Just remember, someday the revolution will come…
@werehatrack Perhaps Meh could do a better job of truth-in-advertising for the recipient to truly feel so much regret, they are shamed forevermore from bragging about how shitty their IRK was in the forums.
And they could limit IRKs based on canceling purchases with 1) duplicate payment cards, and 2) common delivery addresses. That would eliminate the multiple accounts setup to fraudulently purchase additional IRKs they are not entitled to.
I thought there was a once-a-moth cap, but clearly that is as broken as the IRK checkout process.
Some folks just gotta be IRK whores, I guess.
@mike808 @werehatrack I think it’s once per event. Not once per month.
… And you can get two if one is on Sidedeals and one on Meh
Might as well make it a lottery. These days, my expectation of getting one is about the same as my expectation of winning the Powerball. You could still have multiple chances of getting a “ticket” throughout the day to keep people glued to their screen. But… going to be grumbling no matter what.
@walarney Oh, that gave me an idea. I’d bet they can modify the algorithm so that instead of dumping all the IRKs to the first ones through the door, they would stay active through the five minutes. They could randomly sample through everyone that had clicked in those 5 minutes and pick out the winners(losers) at the end. Or just dribble out an IRK every (500 seconds)/(number of IRKs).
@mehcuda67 @walarney That idea of randomly sampling would even the odds for those with internet with enough issues there is no way they can be fast enough when the count each sale is so low.
@walarney It’s about luck and perfectly timed refreshes. I probably spent 15 hours yesterday before I got that perfect combo. You have to really want it. Walk your dog staring at a phone, be at work and still refreshing, shower with your phone… not even kidding. If you’re putting in the same effort as going to s store once and grabbing a powerball ticket then no wonder that’s where you expectations are set for regret.
@Sneakertree @walarney hey, gimme back my IRK winning notes!
/giphy shakes fist
You forgot the ever dangerous (and …yes, stupid) refreshing while barreling down the freeway. Those 2 minute timers are not travel-friendly!
