@FroodyFrog Yeah, co-workers were trying to guilt everyone into throwing $20 away for a group buy-in. I'm only out $6 in losing numbers, so I'm $14 richer than those suckers!
@nadroj Nah. That GW is a pretty large store, but other than buying my $15 Dyson, a $50 KitchenAid bowl lift stand mixer, and after 3-1/2 years, the first TeeTurtle shirt, it hasn't been that notable.
@PocketBrain I couldn't purchase a ticket - no lottery in my state. But really no one needed to buy a ticket. They could just have put a match to those $2 and be where they are right now - $2 poorer.
@PocketBrain Buy a ticket and for however long from that point until the drawing you get to have a little hope, think some happy thoughts, wonder about how it will make your future different, hopefully better, plan on who you'll help and who you'll never tell, and maybe even make someone's day by telling them "If I win this I'm going to give you million dollars" and mean it.
Where else can you have a chance, no matter how small, of parlaying $2 into $1,600,000,000, or turning a mere $2 into happy hopes and generous thoughts? And if it doesn't pan out? $2? Its worth it.
Friend of mine matched 4 numbers and got 120 dollars... I'm underage so I paid him a dollar for half the ticket. I think were probably done with our hopes of hitting it rich.
@FroodyFrog I think you should. I don't buy lottery tickets myself, but I'm realistic about what a win could do for my life, and the people who have been good to me. I'm older, so I really think I'm at the point I would do some real good with it. But to push the idea aside, as if it's useless to win all that money, it's hard for me to appreciate where you're coming from. That money could buy a lot of healthcare and dentistry for me and mine. But it's probably a good place you're coming from, an unselfish one, so enjoy what you're doing and where you're going.
Did a work pool the last 3 drawings. $5 to get in and the head count kept climbing with each drawing. Probably ended up with about 40 people in it last night. Last I saw we had a total of $32 won altogether for the 3 drawings. At this point I'd be content to have my $15 back. A large meaty pizza would be a fair trade for not winning the jackpot.
I have some used power ball tickets, almost the same chances as winning the jackpot as I did, but %50 off what I paid for the ticket, less than a week old.
I blame my wife for not buying any tickets. I have THE WORST LUCK OF ALL TIME when it comes to winning drawings and the like. So no surprise that I didn't win.
@Bogie you shouldn't blame your wife or yourself. Blame Obama. It is probably his fault just as it is his fault that it is going to be cold in the Northeast next week.
@Barney just heard back and he saved it ! We decided it would cover a couple cookies from our favorite bakery. Can I sent you one ? or maybe just eat an extra one for you ? : D
I was banging my forehead against every wall i could find some yesterday morning when i saw that article. I'm glad that the campaign got removed in hours because she's a moron. She wasn't gonna spend the money on her family, but on more tickets instead.
@FroodyFrog I shake my head at that article. Her poor family if she is the responsible adult! I might have even bought into it if she had divine inspiration or some reasonable basis to believe that she would win. 1 in 2.9 million, just like the rest of us..I save my odds for airflight and surgery, thank you!
Ditto
I didn't either. I'd blame @thismyusername, but since I'm only out $2, it's a pass.
@narfcake I will blame @thismyusername, since it's $10 plus $2 at work -- and I have to see my co-workers again.
@narfcake @heartny

@thismyusername Money buys salt licks. Checkmate.
At least one winner in Chino Hills CA. If it is a Kardashian I'll vote for Trump and then move to Canada.
@jml326 And we will hunt you down and get you if you do that.
On the news, a store clerk said that some people spent $500 or even $600 on tickets. One person even tried using credit card.
So far, 1 winning ticket was sold in
Chino Hills, and 12 other tickets sold in California had 5 of the 6 numbers.
@FroodyFrog Must be the same people buying all the stuff from Meh.
@FroodyFrog my cousin lives in Chino Hills.
@FroodyFrog Yeah, co-workers were trying to guilt everyone into throwing $20 away for a group buy-in. I'm only out $6 in losing numbers, so I'm $14 richer than those suckers!
@FroodyFrog @carl669 I know where that is. There's a Goodwill across the street from the 7-Eleven that sold the ticket.
@narfcake lifetime supply of catshirts!
@carl669 -Your very favorite cousin?
@nadroj Nah. That GW is a pretty large store, but other than buying my $15 Dyson, a $50 KitchenAid bowl lift stand mixer, and after 3-1/2 years, the first TeeTurtle shirt, it hasn't been that notable.
@KDemo all my cousins are my very favorite cousin. though this one might just rise above the rest.
@FroodyFrog could be office pools. Group around me pooled $200. For a brief day of dreams... Poof.
@sdb You called?
i haven't checked my tickets yet, but i'm going to go ahead and assume i won and go to the [insanely expensive car] dealership in the morning.
@heartny sounds about right
@heartny Tru Dat
Oh well, Plan B has been working out this far.
@KDemo and available without a prescription
@nadroj - Hey, morning after makes me wonder - Does the lottery have VMP last call?
There needs to be a second drawing, just for us.
I didn't even bother to purchase a ticket.
@PocketBrain I couldn't purchase a ticket - no lottery in my state. But really no one needed to buy a ticket. They could just have put a match to those $2 and be where they are right now - $2 poorer.
@PocketBrain Buy a ticket or don't buy a ticket, your odds of winning are about the same.

I'm perfectly content if I never win the lottery. Too much hassle involved, and besides, it would ruin my plans for life.
@FroodyFrog Plans for life? Living in a box under bridge in your old age?
@Kidsandliz
Nah. I don't like bridges.
@FroodyFrog What, suffering? You have too much character for me to even begin to understand you.
@PinkysMom
I'll take that as a compliment.
@FroodyFrog I think you should. I don't buy lottery tickets myself, but I'm realistic about what a win could do for my life, and the people who have been good to me. @armchair tweet every number, delete wrong info after the fact, start retweeting on another account to get it flowing

@cinoclav With extra sausage!
@jaremelz
@cinoclav Hahahaha. I can't stop laughing. And damn it, left hungry, ain't that a bitch.
I have some used power ball tickets, almost the same chances as winning the jackpot as I did, but %50 off what I paid for the ticket, less than a week old.
@caffeine_dude Collectors items! You helped drive the jackpot to a record high! Keep 'em for your grand kids.
@medz @caffeine_dude show the grandkids that "PWRB 01/13/2016 $1.50 Bill" on the bottom and tell them that used to be a LOT of money.
Florida and Tennessee also sold tickets which matched all the numbers.
Me either. I'll continue to live the mediocre life.
@galmaegi samesies.
@galmaegi
Welcome to America.
A simple life has always been the American Dream.
@FroodyFrog Thinking about what I'd do with the powerball money is exciting though.
@galmaegi
Let's face it; even if you won, you'd still work at Meh.
@FroodyFrog You're right. I'd still play Jenga wearing the digital massager to be on periscope.
This is the first time I played. I was excited to see that I had all the numbers, but in the wrong order. My life sucks.
My boyfriend also didn't win it. He was bummed out. His cats didn't hold any winning tickets either. They didn't care as much as he did.
I hit only the Powerball, and thus got $4 back. All shall fear me.
@madamehardy oh crap. I did too w/ a friend. I hope he didn't trash the ticket.
@ceagee Uh, can I borrow a dollar?
@Barney just heard back and he saved it ! We decided it would cover a couple cookies from our favorite bakery.
Can I sent you one ? or maybe just eat an extra one for you ? : D
@ceagee Not going to eat some veggies, fruit or salad? :)
@Barney aren't chocolate chips veggies ?
@ceagee Haha, keep telling yourself that.
What's a Powerball?
@Marion14505 http://www.wal.co.kr/product_spec.php?it_id=1452575937
@galmaegi LOL
@galmaegi you win the internet for today. congratulations!
@galmaegi
@galmaegi I am just so glad it's not a sex toy. Or maybe I'm sad it's not a sex toy.
If you'd like to see a master class in trolling (from someone who supposedly did win), check out this Twitter account:

Especially this tweet:
@dashcloud
He had a photoshopped picture which was shoddily done.
http://observer.com/2016/01/powerball-hoax-man-claiming-win-on-social-media-definitely-photoshopped-his-ticket/
@FroodyFrog I was looking for an article on this earlier, and couldn't find it, so thanks!
Interesting story regarding the ticket sold in Chino Hills
Here's an article from ABC regarding it, although it has less details than those I am aware of;
http://abc7.com/news/ca-powerball-jackpot-winner-identified-as-pomona-nurse/1159522/
A co-worker of mine won 10 grand. Must be nice. I didn't play.
Turns out, the story about the 62 year old nurse being one of the 3 big winners was a prank pulled by the son.
http://abc7.com/news/ca-powerball-jackpot-winner-identified-as-pomona-nurse-by-employer/1159522/
@FroodyFrog Yeah, that's a super dick move.
Neither did this person

@mikibell
I don't like my odds for certain stuff, so I've never been on a plane in my life.
Besides, if frogs were meant to fly...
@mikibell 1 in 292 million or something like that. 1 in 2.9 million would be pretty good odds for a lottery :)
@djslack ahh yes..thus why I was an English major...still those odds are not worth donating any money to lotto :]
@jml326 My condolences. I wish you nothing but the best as you grieve through this time off loss.
