@CraigDanger My 10 year old golden very much prefers to sleep on something soft. They get arthritis as they age just like humans do. Even my puppy will choose a bed over hard floor given a choice. Humans can sleep on the floor too, it’s just nice not to.
We have some self-inflating pads like this for us humans when camping. They really only self-inflate to how much the foam springs back. For that reason, they suggest storing it unrolled with the valve open when not in use so the foam can fully expand over time. This, of course, defeats the whole purpose of having a portable, space-saving pet bed. You can always blow into the valve to fully inflate it though. It’s really easy to do. Not sure how these particular ones will hold-up to dog toe nails though…
@medz We had some similar ones that you put water in; they provided cooling and softness, and the dogs loved them, but we were lucky to get a month or two out of them without leaks caused by ‘digging’. You had to use a thin cover or the cooling action didn’t work.
We ended up getting Kuranda beds and using a memory foam/fleece pad after recommendations from our vet; the dogs absolutely loved them.
@vinuash keep that attitude and you’d better buy a blacklight to see how often your cat sprays your pillows. Don’t F` with the paws with claws. They can read your mind.
@bbf Might. The camping ones I have slept on are likely around 1" thick too. You’d likely have to play with how much you blow it up depending on how many people are sitting on it. If they are like the camping ones they self inflate to a certain extent and then a few breathes into it and that finishes them off. If it is too hard, just untwist the valve for a quick second.
I almost bought. I could get VMP, get 30 extra days for free shipping and I’d justify this for my dog.
Then it dawned on me.
We have yoga mats larger and more comfortable than this, cost about$10, they roll up and have Velcro straps to keep it that way and they have a carry handle.
They aren’t being used and if I recall, they’re great for the downward dog pose.
@Woody1 - Please, send me info I need to purchase these Yoga Pads because a Pooch can’t have too many smoking jackets,… ah, ah,… I meant to say day/nite beds!!
What are the dimensions of this thing? I mean, can I get a $10 therm-a-rest that is big enough for my child? I know my dog wouldn’t chose that over the ground…
@redjeep0@troy-Try those Yoga Mats that Woody mentioned. Either that or just break-down & buy them some beds!! You know, I heard that a regular bed is ideal for Humans!! LOL!!
@Kidsandliz@redjeep0 I was at Wallyworld today, and a $50 Thermarest Hiker is almost exactly the size of 2 of these. Quality/longevity of these ‘pet beds’ might still be a question…
@brainmist I have a 45 pound mix that feels the same way. It does not register that she far outclasses the lap; damnit, that’s where she wants to be. Unless I’m laying down, in which case she’d prefer to straddle me sideways somewhere about the midsection and plop down with a force approximately three times her measured mass.
Why would you buy this? So that you monster will poke holes in it? When its perfectly happy on the ground? Or a cheaper bed? What’s the plan? Force your dog to a shitty bed causing you both stress vs where she likes to sleep?
@unksol-Nothing’s too good for pets! My dog won’t eat anything from China & he specifically loves Nudge’s {Dry Pkgd} Dog Food. I think it’s made by Tyson, but IS Made in The USA, maybe in Arkansas. It’s packaged in 5oz, for about $4.75 to 16oz, for around $12.87. The food comes as Jerkies, Bits & they have Chicken, Beef, Duck, etc.Nudges ARE Healthy Treats!! If that sounds like a lot of money to spend on a pet’, it’s because it is- not a really a Whole Lot but not the cheapest either!!
@RiotDemon-After your Hotel/Motel visit & if the pad can be put in a damn Clothing Machine Dryer then slap it in there for about 5 minutes to kill any Bed Bugs if any, or suffer the dreaded consequences!! FYI & JSYK!!
I know that I joke a good bit, but I will say somthing that’s very serious. I have PTSD & it can be too much at times. So, I have this Dog, Quasimoddo, who is my lifeline, my anchor, and my bestis friend. Therefore I will relay what he thinks of your ‘dog pad/bed’; he says, “Thanks, guys,” & I Thank You Guys for finding something I’m sure he’ll Love, especially since he hit 14, he enjoys barking & lieing down a bunch. Again, Thank You, Thank You Very Much!!
@savvysapphire-I personally think the inventor of these Pads were/are probably Humans that Love Animals!! You Don’t Have To Be A Tree-Hugger to Love Animals!! So,… Spoil Your Pet- I Won’t Snitch On You If You Do!!
These work incredibly well as rafts. We had a sleeping pad that we used in the pool, actually my toy fox terrier made it her throne in the pool. She could dive off for water balloons and still scramble back on since it was low. Easy to store since it is thin. We adopted another dog who was not very floatable and he watched the terrier in the pool then peed on her raft when it came out. They clean up well, also.
Sweet, something for the GSDs! Bullet loves the couch or his jumbo floor pillow. Shadow just wants to be wherever I am (hence, Shadow…). Both are rescues and getting up there in dawg years so we’ll see how these go.
We just get the inflatable mattress they sell at walmart. Twin size arium. $8, full and queen a little more. They love them, they are thick and durable and no shipoing charges. A much better product. This ine is very small.
@dennisludwick@RiotDemon does your dog have some serious problem with the floor? You know. The opposite of a normal dog. I can’t imagine blowing up an air mattress for a dog.
You won’t get a med to smallish dog for $10. They are hard to find. I know. We looked for months after Rusty died. I can’t control a big dog anymore. Ended up with a 10 lb dog. Those 20 to 40 lb guys are hard to get!

Meh, 10 bucks this may be handy, why not:

I actually have human-sized self-inflating mats and they are awesome. But… dogs can just lay in the ground right?
@CraigDanger Mine does.

will my fatass bitch cat like this
@vinuash keep that attitude and you’d better buy a blacklight to see how often your cat sprays your pillows. Don’t F` with the paws with claws. They can read your mind.
@Woody1 I replied to someone else but was very drunk, my cat is awful
@vinuash @Woody1 Yeah cats with claws wonder how long before the mat is punctured.
Will it work for human butts on hard benches?
@bbf Might. The camping ones I have slept on are likely around 1" thick too. You’d likely have to play with how much you blow it up depending on how many people are sitting on it. @bbf-I sure hope it does because I got 2, one for my Best Friend & one for my Ass & I say that literally!!
@decoratedwarvet Wow, you have a dog AND a donkey.

@redjeep0 34 x 20 x 1 inches
@troy Thanks. My kids aren’t that small anymore
@redjeep0 buy 2 and velcro them together. I did that with 2 folding 6" deep dog foam pad and it works great.
Damn kids don’t know when to stop growing, @redjeep0.

Is a portable dog bed really a better mouse trap? All the dogs I now sleep on anything; the ground, a pillow, my lap.
I am afraid my lap pibble has declined, on account of this is too small, not self heated, doesn’t do massage, and is also not my lap.
@brainmist I have a 45 pound mix that feels the same way. It does not register that she far outclasses the lap; damnit, that’s where she wants to be. check out review #3 (from 10 months ago) at amazon.
coincidentally(?), it is titled “Meh”…
Looks like these are/were $19.99 out in the real world, although “not in stock” on many sites.

How does it self inflate?
The only time I can truly think of using this is when I take my dog with me to a hotel, which is pretty rare.
@RiotDemon it’s just foam inside with a valve that can keep it sealed up/compacted. So it’s self inflating, and manually deflating.
@djslack gotcha!
/giphy thanks

Nope to the Pugs Huff Pad.
Seriously. What in the hell is this? I mean who even thought to come up with such a stupid thing?!

Considering getting one just to encourage you guys to keep getting dog stuff. Though how about you get some Kong or Chuck-it toys at good prices next?

@Frenesi that was awesomely!
@Frenesi @ManBehindPlan except you can’t see if her face smashed the other side of the pool!

@llangley this is better…
@llangley why so small?
Just curious, I picked $5 shipping because the month is almost over.
$4.99 would get me free shipping for today only since it’s the last day of the month?
Or do you actually renew every 30 days based on signup date?
@llangley based on sign up date
@llangley write support to get it switched based on @troy’s answer
This will look like an inflatable chew toy to our dogs.

@dennisludwick thanks for this. I think I’ll do this when I’m traveling with my dog next time.
@dennisludwick @RiotDemon does your dog have some serious problem with the floor? You know. The opposite of a normal dog. I can’t imagine blowing up an air mattress for a dog.
@dennisludwick @unksol she’s a big dog. The floor is hard. At home she has a couch cushion in the bedroom and a dog bed in the living room.
I knew a lady that didn’t give her dog any kind of bed. The dog lost patches of hair on it’s legs where it contacted the floor.
@RiotDemon @unksol Thank you.

$10 for my choice of 70-lb. dog, 50-lb. dog, or 35-lb. dog? What a deal!! Do you have any smaller dogs?
