@DaveInSoCal And yet it also kind of scares me. I'll probably de-prioritize this until they go retail. There's only so much I can rationalize and I'm even a little iffy on whether I'd be comfortable using this.
@joelmw i went ziplining and videod (is that a word?) the ride with my phone. I had no strap and kept a death grip on the phone, terrified i would drop it. When i saw the clip in wrist strap it really resonated with me and i had a "shut up and take my money" response.
I used to work at a deli. I wish bluetooth headsets were never invented, and I hate all other phone accessories just because they remind me of bluetooth headsets.
@Pantheist I love mine in the car, but only in the car. They should be tethered somehow so if you step out of your vehicle it gets yanked out of your ear.
@JonT It is illegal to use your phone while driving without a hands-free device in Illinois. You will be pulled over if the police see you holding a phone to your ear. My car doesn't have bluetooth built-in so I need the earpiece when driving.
@Thumperchick@hallmike yeah that makes sense, I got my very first ticket the week before I came to Texas for answering my cell phone for half a second 3 minutes away from home. You can talk on your phone in the car here but I'm still too weirded out to do it.
@JonT@thumperchick@hallmike In PA, it is illegal to text while driving, but it is not illegal to talk on your phone without a handsfree device. I guess texting is worse, but I can't see how cops are supposed to tell the difference. I would imagine anyone could use "I wasn't texting, I was just dialing a number" as an excuse??
@JonT@Thumperchick@hallmike I'm all for people not touching their phones (or even talking hands-free) while they drive, though I confess that I use mine for directions (but I try to keep it mounted) and will check it when stopped. The data on cell phone distraction is pretty damning (even just talking and even hands-free). I'm not judging, because I'm still breaking myself (and the ones I love) of the habit, so I know it's difficult.
@JonT@Thumperchick@hallmike And the thing is that you don't know how distracted you are. That's kind of the point. It's science; you don't have to believe it for it to be true.
@joelmw The first link was enough, lol. You can be distracted by something as simple as an animated conversation with a passenger. It's all about making the right decision for the circumstances.
@Thumperchick If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing. ;-) I do think there's a difference between a phone conversation and a live person. Though you are certainly right. And there's data as well to show that the more teenagers you get in a car, the worse their odds of survival get. But, yes, any kind of distraction is dangerous; no argument there.
I have a protective case on my phone, and a bluetooth headset so I can carry a conversation at home from somewhere other than the corner of the house with reception. I formerly used it in the car, but my new car has a very good bluetooth system. I might want to get a mount so I can view it in the car for navigation purposes. Hmmm...
@PocketBrain Ha. I've had five different kinds of backup battery--including the kind that I got in the kickstarter fuku and then purchased a couple other of later. Backup batteries are the bomb. Just don't tell the TSA I said that.
I love cell phone accessories of every sort. I'm especially in the market for a good car mount. My smartphone is my connection to a world of knowledge and electronic functionality; hell-fucking-yeah I want to accessorize that bitch. My smartphone may be the most important non-human in my life. Is that strong and clear enough?!
@joelmw Maybe you're reaching levels beyond goat. Maybe they should create a sort of king goat, so that if the monthly goat goes on holiday, or something spectacularly disastrous occurs, we can escalate to blaming you.
I'd like a good chest mount for my Windowsphone Lumia 920 that has a great camera. I could then record some mountain biking footage. I'm too cheap to buy a Go Pro or clone.
I helped fund the linkmount Kickstarter:
Only apple phone accessories are worthy of my interest. Hint. Hint
@DaveInSoCal I like.

Big Time "Meh" on this end..!

@hallmike That I'd be ok with- safer without the annoying fact that it's impossible to tell who you're talking to
@Pantheist @hallmike Do people still use Bluetooth earpieces? I haven't been confused by someone in a suit muttering to themselves for a long time now.
@JonT I think the decline in earpieces has to do with the increase of texting. I do keep one in my car, though.

@joelmw Oh, I believe it. Wasn't complaining - I'm all for hands-free driving laws.

How do I describe my interest in phone accessories? I'm going to go with... Hmm. Meh. Feels strangely appropriate.
@Durago +1

@PocketBrain Ooo oo, also a purple battery pack/usb charger from Meh that came in handy camping this weekend.

More, I want more cell phone accessories! Now!
Please?
@joelmw Yes, yes, I'm among the "fetishistic." Why do you ask?
Unlike @joelmw , my interest in phone accessories is purely platonic.
@nadroj For @bluedyn (still campaigning, I guess):
@nadroj And the fact that I said I wanted a "mount" is merely a homophonic accident. Don't be homophone-o-phobic.
@joelmw Maybe you're reaching levels beyond goat. Maybe they should create a sort of king goat, so that if the monthly goat goes on holiday, or something spectacularly disastrous occurs, we can escalate to blaming you.
@bluedyn Yes?
@bluedyn The go-to goat?
