@MEHcus I'm in PA, and the other two are State Schools (read: much cheaper for dad). The third is University of Arizona. Obviously that's his first choice. It will be much more expensive (to say nothing of the plane fares) and I have trust issues sending him there because it is totally huge and a party school -- I'm not sure he'll make academics his first priority (or get lost trying to do so).
@ACraigL It's an adventure. Make sure he takes advantage of seeing and doing all there is to do in AZ during down time. So much hiking and canyons to explore and stuff. That is, if he goes there. At least he will want to come home summers. Tucson is a bear in the summer. "No one wants to go down to Tucson in the summer, so this time the boss sent me. So send me down to Tucson and I'll get the job done" lalalalalah
@ACraigL If he really wants to go there and you can make it work financially, it might be a good experience for him to send him off, with a prior agreement regarding expectations academically and the consequences of failing to live up to those expectations. Worst case he lives up to your fears and you reel him back home the next semester, but given the chance, with the incentive of going to his first choice school to motivate him and clear cut expectations and consequences, he might surprise you. :)
Edit: Hmm, wonder what brought this thread to the top tonight, didn't realize how old it was. :X
@MrMark I have Walker too ! I activate him vs. Efiert and was sad when Efiert had a blow out of 23 on Thursday. But then Walker must of known that so.... he matched him. YAY
My Nabi is being a punk and not cooperating (probably bad mini usb cord) so here is a few phone pics. I will put the cool vid once my talented friend compiles it.

Most of us had not done much backpacking prior to this. We went through this neat company http://www.treksandtracks.com/ and had a great time.
@connorbush Awesome! I haven't been backpacking in a long, long time but would love to set up a trip again. I did a 7 day trip in Colorado a while back that was one of the highlights of my youth.
I'm trying to get ready to move so sat was taking inventory of how much junk there is. Sunday was having a little bonfire of old wooden chairs and shelving units to thin the furniture herd.
Was a pretty good weekend. Saw a great concert Friday night (Leftover Salmon). Saturday a friend of mine who is a music teacher had a performance at a local venue where his students all got to play and they really were fantastic.
Then Saturday night some other friends of ours who have a band played a gig on our local downtown trolley which was super cool
Then we laid in bed watching the Grateful Dead concert streamed from Madison Square Garden.
On Sunday we went and played trivia for the first time at a local bar and won first place cause we're cool like that.
Good weekend! Now I just need to find time to sleep...
@connorbush If you were a stout purist, probably not a whole lot of fun, but with 8-9 beers on tap, and a rotating selection as kegs were emptied, there was a good variety.
@MEHcus I checked the Meh forums to see if you had finally had a chance to choose a favourite. You hadn't. Other than that, I got my hair cut and performed a Baroque mass.
My son got accepted to his third college this weekend! We went to a sheeshy Cuban restaurant to celebrate (his choice). Also, I raked a lot of leaves.
@ACraigL That's great! Has he decided in which one he wants to attend yet?

@ACraigL Ah yeah, that one is definitely a party school, a pretty good school of course, but a damn good party school.
@ACraigL -Congrats to a proud father! But yeah, that out of state tuition can be brutal.
@ACraigL If it makes you feel any better, of the 3 Universities in AZ that is the least party hardy.
@ceagee Thanks but little consolation, that. I just don't want him that far away... he barely studies when he's here.

@ceagee I had to google the lyrics. Not a huge Mel Tillis fan.
@ACraigL HTBT it was a thing long ago. When headed out of Flag to Tucson it was a prerequisite to sing thing little ditty.

In-law's came to visit, 1 kid was sick, had to clean up fallen leaves...but my fantasy team did score 147 points :) ...so all in all, not bad.
@MrMark 147 points against me I might add. Jerk.
@MEHcus It was advanced scouting on my part. I knew Walker would score TDs like this:
@MrMark I need Rivers and Gates to connect on about 8 of those tonight to have a chance. How's the scouting report look for me?
@MEHcus Hmm. Against the Bears...50/50. Maybe 60/40
@MrMark I have Walker too ! I activate him vs. Efiert and was sad when Efiert had a blow out of 23 on Thursday. But then Walker must of known that so.... he matched him. YAY
@ceagee I started Efiert in all 3 of my leagues!
It was different, but good weekend for me. I gained a step-mom, and 2 step-sisters. I also managed to luck into a 50" TV out of that deal too.
My daughter had a good weekend as well. She's on a synchronized ice skating team. They competed at 2 different events and got 1st and 2nd place.
I went on an overnight backpacking adventure through the wilderness zone in a portion of the Los Padres National Forest.
Saw some deer, some native American drawings, and pooped outside at dawn.
'Twas rad. I'll post pics later if you please.
@connorbush I do please.
@connorbush Poop pics?
@ACraigL fortunately, no poops pics.
@MEHcus sounds good. My friend makes rad vids and will do a compilation blog thing eventually. I'll throw some garbage pics up in the mean time.

Purchased a couch, which we wont get for another 3 weeks.
@Bogie So they use SmartPost, too?
@MEHcus Hah. they must!

Went to a fine brewery in New Jersey (called Third State) for Stout Weekend. Lots of fun and beer to be had.
@dashcloud stout weekend?! Sounds like my kind of weekend. (Please send me stouts in the next beer fuku)
@connorbush If you were a stout purist, probably not a whole lot of fun, but with 8-9 beers on tap, and a rotating selection as kegs were emptied, there was a good variety.
Irish festival. Took it easy this year. Swore never to drink again after last year, so I only had 3 or 4 this year. And a big bowl of champ!
@MEHcus I checked the Meh forums to see if you had finally had a chance to choose a favourite.
