I hate when companies force retailers to charge msrp for things (ahem, apple products) so that they are forced to offer incentives ($50 gift card with purchase) or make the buyer run through hoops to see the actual price (actual price appears right at the end of the sale, before you hit BUY). Lame.
@jsh139 That is called MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) pricing and having a retail business, I had to sell things at MAP too. You cannot advertise it for less but you are still able to sell it for less. This is why some companies make you put the item in your cart to see their price and you can remove it if you still don't want it.
Most of the computers I've bought recently have been at the MSRP. Naturally, that is by quantity, not by dollar value. The Raspberry Pi 2 Model B, 1 Gbyte of RAM, quad core, HDMI 1080p display, 4 USB ports, ethernet, camera port for 1080p video (camera sold separately). Runs a complete Linux distribution. $35.00.
MSRP are all bullshit on just about everything everywhere . All MSRP are false , untrue, incorrect, lying, wrong, deceitful, artificial, totally full of crap falsehoods. It has to be like that, so you think your getting an extraordinary deal, when they sell it to you for 50 percent off. It's all total bullshit.
After spending my entire working day repairing electronic and network issues in vehicles, the last thing I want to see on my time off is anything electronic and complex. Although I have a 5 year old HP laptop, the newest things in my house are an old CRT TV that rarely gets turned on, and a coffee pot with a timer. Life without cell phones or bluetooth anything is relaxing and peaceful.
Pretty close to never. On rare occasion, I simply must have a certain game first. I also have taken part in a few Kickstarters. I did order the Raspberry Pi 2B as soon as it was out, but MSRP on that was quite cheap. Hobby electronics only, then. I never really purchase consumer electronics at MSRP.

@cengland0 Ah.. thanks for the explanation.
MSRP is for suckers...
@thismyusername And impatient people.
I'm guessing the most common paying MSRP is cell phone. The people who need the latest and greatest that is. Just not paid directly in one chunk.

It's smaller brother, the Model A is $20.00.
I use more electronics than almost anyone else I know, but have never in my life been able to justify paying list price for any of them.
