@awk is referring to the worldly popular game of Frisbee Golf or as Americans would call it, 'frolf.'
While frisbee golf does include golf it does not include the ball part. Also, golf is not a sport despite what many out of shape older WASPs would like you to believe.
@jqubed@elimanningface As someone who used to regularly play this course (which is a bit of a hike, with some steep climbing over sometimes rough terrain, and played through the trees and natural foliage, unlike wimpy "regular" golf), I don't think I've ever said "frolf." Maybe one of our clients (we'd take the adventurous ones with us if they were looking for a hike and willing to get dirty) said that. I've sometimes said "folf." "Disc golf" is preferred.
The video represents the course pretty well, but I don't think it gives a true sense of its scale or elevation changes.
This is how we disc golf in Missoula, bitches. Your little sissy cart wouldn't survive. Hell, those fat WASP asses wouldn't either; whether mine would anymore is open to debate.
We played long before they had the baskets or tees or fancy maps. You had to know a guy: the holes were recognizable (usually trees), but you might not know 'em if you didn't know where to look. Some of the holes, you were virtually guaranteed to hit the wrong tree (or several) before making the hole.
I used to play a lot as a teenager when we lived on a course. Even in college I played some, and took golf for a P.E. credit. It actually really helped my game, and then I never played again after graduating. I went out on a driving range a couple years ago and was surprised to be sore the next day; those muscles had really atrophied.
The minority of the community here who enjoy golf may get a kick out of my once, ever golf experience, so I'll share:
Two friends who play invited myself and another friend who had never played to a round at a 9 hole public course in our town. We started midafternoon and let everyone who caught up to us play through because myself and the other non player stunk so badly. It started raining about the time it got dark, and we left the course without having finished nine holes.
I'll stick with disc golf and the occasional round of putt putt.
beyond meh
I've played mini golf poorly once or twice, and I've used old clubs I had for unknown reasons to hit things a few times. Watch your back, PGA.
Is that the sport with the ball?
@awk You gotta be more specific: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ball_games

@elimanningface I have never heard anybody use that word. o_O It sounds slightly disturbing.
@FroodyFrog No worries, I don't blame you. I do blame the American Education system though. Serenity now!!!
@elimanningface A Frisbee golf GPS watch, I might buy that.
@elimanningface I've never heard it called frolf, but I've never played it either.

You needed a mini-golf only choice - that I have done.
And used hockey sticks as gulf clubs in gym in junior high. Does that count?
Does pocket pool count..?
Weekly starting in April.
I'm a fair weather golfer though, it can't be too hot or cold.
@TaRDy
Looks like it.

I am very good at mini-golf. I've probably won 98% of the games. Sometimes I even get the ball in the last hole too. Never played the real game.
looking at the vote breakdown... guess I know why you only sold 23 in 8 hours.
These survey results say something interesting about the Mehtizen community. Not sure what, but it seems interesting.
I never played Barnyard Pool.
