@jsh139 Sometimes yes - I have another tivo/tv set up that way - but on this particular Tivo its a 2-3 button push sequence (and set up time) on the Tv Remote its 1 button...... I'm so lazy ;)
@ilovereality Similar here, minus the Roku. I do use the Tivo XL4 remote to change inputs when it's PS3 time but I could where it would be a hassle for more devices. Once I found out it can control the soundbar, so convenient!
I have a Philips TSU2000 that I bought during the seven months in 2001 when I was grossly overpaid at a dot com in San Francisco.
It still works perfectly for my needs. On the rare occasion that I buy a new piece of gear, I break out the laptop that I bought during the same era that runs Windows 2000 and the ProntoEdit software and program the remote to work with the new stuff.
TV Converter Box Bluray Player-[Mostly to Stream Amazon Prime] Bose 321 Wiiu The last 2 when the kids misplace the other remotes Note 3 [Watch On App] - & Chromecast App Note 10.1 [Watch on App] - & Chromecast App
1-Harmony 650 It controls my 65" TV, Onkyo 5.1 amp, and my HTPC that is a cable DVR, Blue Ray player, and media streamer. The remote smart buttons are programmed to do everything perfectly, no other remote or keyboard required. OK, once in while I use a Lenovo N5902 handheld backlit keyboard mouse, but not very often.
I use my keyboard and mouse to control my computer, which I have connected to my TV. And I use the remote that came with the TV to adjust volume and input source, when needed. I guess that counts as three...?
Genie box remote, TV, Home theater, blueray/dvd player. If I just watch TV, only need the Genie remote to control set top box, TV and home theater sound. But If I want to watch a disk, or if I want Netflix, or other streaming where the set top box is off, it gets complicated. (The harmony set up is in the other room with the other TV and stuff.)
I think I have a remote problem... Our beloved TiVo remote, plus, in no particular order: TV remote (mostly for when we watch OTA) Roku Soundbar Mouse Wii DVD player Controller for 4-component-device switcher (or whatever it is Monoprice calls it) VCR remote (for setting the time when it's time to turn the clocks forward or back, not so much for watching)
I said 6, but that includes all the tablets and phones in the house running the same software (MythMote). It's much easier to use whatever you have in your hand or pocket already, rather than chasing down a dedicated remote.
Three.
1 and 2 could be combined if I upgraded to the $150 Harmony that uses Bluetooth but that's way overkill.
TV. Xbox. Bluray.
1) converter box
2) TV
3) vhs/dvd player (except the dvd part is busted)
would love to downgrade to 2 remotes 1) modern tv that doesn't need a converter box 2) something working to play vhs and dvd's
@ilovereality TiVo remote can't switch inputs?

I have a Roku ready TV, so it has the controls on the remote.

Maybe I ought to be looking at a universal...
1- Harmony 720 for tv, home theater, blu ray, cable, AC, heater, pretty much everything that can be remote controlled.
