I have one pair of sneakers, and then one pair of emergency sneakers that doesn’t really count because I ovened them to death by mistake, and then what I call a half a pair of flats because one of them was sized wrong (or I have one odd foot).
I used to have a ton of different shoes back in my youth for various occasions. Now all I own are two pairs of identical sneakers, both made and bought in Russia. Bought the first pair in 2009, then another in 2014 in the same very store. Super comfy, durable, don’t need anything else.
Three for me: Brooks running shoes for running (which I don’t do enough), forest green and white Saucony Jazz (which I wear most days), and black low-top canvas Chucks (which are not as comfortable as they were when I was 18).
@JasonToon have you tried the Chucks v2? I’ve been tempted but end up sticking with the classics, if they made a total classic style of the v2 it’d be all over them.
@ninjaemilee@RiotDemon 5 changes a day gets me 260 days out of the year without having to repeat a shoe. There’s nothing better than a lightly worn shoe and switching shoes every 2 hours to keep my feet nice and fresh!
I always keep three pair in rotation. One pair for running in nice weather, one pair for running in the mud, and one pair for walking/driving. When I need new running soles, I get a new pair, downgrade the old runners to mudders, downgrade the old mudders to walkers, and toss out the old walkers.
I have two pairs I rotate for work. I have one pair that are my not at work sneakers that I’ve had for probably 3+ years. (Mostly wear flip flops) I have a pair of previous work shoes that I keep in my car in case I step in a rain puddle. Working all day in wet shoes sucks.
Then I have my shoes that have gotten damaged that I wear if I know I’m going somewhere that they’ll get gross. Painting, going to sandy/muddy places, doing yard work. Eventually those get thrown away when my work shoes get replaced.
Sneakers? I have several pairs of athletic shoes for different purposes:
Adidas Superstars I wear as ‘casual’ shoes, 2 or 3 days a week. They’re just about ready for replacement
Wilson tennis shoes. These aren’t getting much use these days
Reebok Bulldodge (lacrosse) cleats I use for playing Ultimate on soft or muddy fields
Diadora Capitano turf shoes (in kangaroo leather) for Ultimate on harder surfaces
Spalding leather hi-tops I wear for yard work, construction projects, etc. Almost as tough as work boots but WAY more comfortable
Fila water shoes (FiveFinger knock-off) I got on Woot for pool, kayak, canoe, & sailboat use (tired of getting sunburned feet during water activities)
Plus some ancient Raichle mountaineering/hiking boots, Lange ski boots, and Crocs for house shoes/slippers (also bring them along to Ultimate tournaments to wear during down-time).
Have only 3 pairs of shoes : sneakers, boots, and dress shoes. It’s all I need.
I have a lot, but not in the collector sense, I have 2 nice pair and the rest are old beat up worn out ones that get used for mowing and the like…
Zero sneakers
Maybe a dozen running shoes
3 pair of court shoes
Half a dozen trail shoes
3 pair hiking boots
3 pair claiming shoes
2 pair hard shell mountaineering boots
4 pair road cycling, 4 pair mountain bike
a dozen pairs of sandals and slippahs
And one pair of wing tips in case I die
@MehnofLaMehncha In case you die - Like maybe you never will? Hope you never own these kind of shoes then LOL
@Kidsandliz
@MehnofLaMehncha
Wtf are “claiming shoes”?
@f00l you don’t know?
@jbartus
I do not. Unless it was meant to be “climbing shoes”.
@f00l Or perhaps “clamming”. Or even “charming”.

I don’t like shoes.

Two pairs of Converse
One pair of Vans
One pair of Addidas Sambas
One pair of work boots
@JoetatoChip Are we counting Converse All Stars? If we are, my vote is now incorrect…
@ninjaemilee If we’re not, I have to change my answer to zero sneakers.
I own a shoe business. Right now over 1,300 pairs…
@luvche21 Do you actually wear all 1,300?
@ninjaemilee 5 changes a day.

A few. My favorites right now are these super comfortable Adidas Tubular ones:
If you see me running, though, something is very wrong.

If I had to guess, I am going to say 50 pairs, but I bet the number is higher. I have at least 30 pairs of Vans.
@conandlibrarian OMG. Where do you keep them all? Do you have a special storage solution like @narfcake and his shirts?
@compunaut
I’ve always been curious which costs @narfcake more; his tshirts, or his secuirty measures to protect the tshirts.
@PlacidPenguin If by security, you mean the closet doors that I bought for $15/pair …
@narfcake
Sure…
You know, your collection should probably be on this list.
@compunaut they are stashed all over the house. I have a problem.

Sneakers? I have a pair of low-top Chucks, and a pair of running shoes.
I also have:
27 pair and they all look brand new since I always switch every day
I own one pair that I wear every day, and I typically keep the last pair I replaced around.

i have several pairs of nice, american made boots.
