I have a lot of video calls most days, but I don’t actually turn on my video. Don’t want to scare anyone. Or have them see me in my jammies, as I work from home.
@derek17j I just checked the mileage on my car yesterday. A total of 320 miles since the first of the year. Before working from home, I used to drive that in a week. I love the extra 8 hours a week that I now have free instead of commuting!
We have a fifteen minute “stand up” meeting every morning, but we don’t use video. Only time cameras are used is meetings with folks outside our team. Maybe couple times a week.
@olperfesser I keep a little sheet of opaque adhesive dots that fit over computer/phone/tablet lenses. That’s one of the first things added to any new electronics.
I have a 1 hour all-hands meeting on Monday morning, then a 90 minute project-specific meeting on Tuesday afternoon (which can actually run anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the issues of the week). We don’t do video - audio and screen sharing only.
Where is the choice for zero? I am considered an “essential” employee. I produce printed advertising material for the customer. Emails cover necessary communication.
Zero hours here also. Work for a medical equipment manufacturer and my job is impossible to do remotely. Sometimes I wish that weren’t the case, like now since I have to leave in about 15 minutes.
Exactly one video call made in pandemic for dad’s neurologist last summer, which I changed from in person to lower their risk and that was a mistake. He wasn’t very cooperative having to look at the doctor on a small screen. The in person visit this year went much better.
I have been full time wfh for 6 years. 3-6 hours of conference calls, but no video. A few teams like using the video but my boss does not so I follow his lead.
I haven’t done a video call at all at this job.

I have done exactly zero zoom calls or video calls during entire pandemic.

Two hours a week, usually, but I don’t show my face.
I now work at home permanently, so all my meetings are video. I’ll take that because I no longer have to commute 90 minutes each way.
@derek17j Wow 90mins. Good for you!! Saving lots of gas too.

I don’t even have a camera on either computer.

What’s a work day?
