According to healthline.com “[potassium] deficiency typically occurs when your body loses a lot of fluid.”
So I guess it works for both.
A friend told me her doctor told her she was dehydrated because she was just drinking water from her refrigerator which had all the good stuff filtered out. Does this sound reasonable?
I’m NEVER thirsty but I’m very dehydrated. I can see it in my skin. The only hydration I get is coffee, Mt Dew, and old fashioneds; all are also diuretics. I read recently that milk is actually better than water for rehydration. But I hate milk. I’m gonna wither away I guess…mehbe I should get some IVs. Or mehbe not
@llangley coffee is like 90% water, good for hydration. Milk is loaded with sugar, causes mucus production, has galactose (causes inflammation and rapid aging) and is all around no bueño. The best drink for hydration is water.
@Gypsigirl213 I found the article interesting. Agree on milk . But coffee is a diuretic so you’ll pee most of that water out, I guess. Like beer. Not a lot stays behind for hydration.
I got about 3 beers in me, so I’d say I’m pretty well hydrated.
You couldn’t have asked me this before I peed?
I have to pee, so I’m still fairly hydrated.
Does lack of thirst equal extremely, very, fairly, not so much, or barely at all? I wish I had a dip stick to check.
@hchavers no dipstick necy.
Pinch the skin on your arm or hand; if it snaps back you’re good. If it’s slow to return or “tents” you’re not. I’m not.
@hchavers @llangley
I thought that was for Potassium?
@DVDBZN @hchavers Never heard that. I always thought muscle cramps was a sign of low potassium but I’m not at all sure.

Water?! Fish f**k in it.

@pooflady No.
@pooflady makes zero sense.
@pooflady the water was filtered out of the water?
Now? Extremely. In a couple hours? Barely at all.

@jerkatron - That’s a lot, unless you missed a period or two

@tinamarie1974 awww, sorry to hear. Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks @llangley! Such a true statement. My fur baby was an excellent cuddle nurse when I was sick. Miss him.
Drink when you’re thirsty. You get thirsty before any negative effects of dehydration arise. Millions (even Billions) of years of fine-tuning.
