Your mediocre jokes are forgotten the moment they’re read. You will campaign against Baby Driver as it mocks you with is immortality. Your last memorable act will be being sold to Amazon. Good day sir. Harumph.
I was quite surprised by how good it was. My friend had wanted to see it and I felt like the previews had told me all I need to know about it. But the texture of the movie was what made it special.
Am I missing something? “Utterly competent and mostly forgettable” might not be a ringing endorsement, but I don’t know that I would classify it as a harsh insult either.
@DrWorm I watch a lot of movies. Almost all of them are utterly forgettable, even a lot of the good ones. It’s a genuine rarity when some does something so exceptional that It’s truly memorable, and usually It’s the visuals that stick. The whale rising from the bioluminescent sea under an ocean of stars in Life of Pi. The billowing clothes mirroring the desert landscape in The Cell. Martial artists dancing through slow moving drops of rain in Hero.
I realize that its an awfully superficial reason, but the sheer stupidity of the title has me, a reasonably prolific theater-goer, waiting for Netflix ( and yes, I am familiar with the etymology of “Baby Driver” within the context of the movie’s plot). I think coming on the heels of “Boss Baby” doesn’t do it any favors.
Was a fan of the movie as well.
On an almost unrelated note, “The Big Sick” is totally worth seeing. Didn’t think Dinesh could carry the lead, but he was great.
Hear, hear.
@Thumperchick Wow, I feel like that so much of the time I want it as a mask to wear over my own face.
Ha the Joe Muggs patio crowd is so easy.
Why on earth would anyone insult Minnie Driver’s new child? That’s just barbaric.
I loved it, so it’s not a company-wide opinion.

Didn’t watch it, don’t plan to, sounds like The Real McCoy, which I did enjoy

Is there another reference somewhere else?

@moondrake Unless you’re a movie freak all movies are forgettable.

@DrWorm Agreed. Awful title. Sucked it up and saw it, was very pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

@ACraigL Yeah, the preview sold me on that one.
@ACraigL In that vein, I just watched The Big Short last night, and it’s also fucking awesome.
The Big Sick is the Judd Apatow one, right?
@woodhouse Produced by, yes. Directed by Michael Showalter.
