I am at work, waiting to be evacuated due to the fires. So far I have been very lucky, power outage all of last night but that’s it. How is everyone else?
We are evacuating as we speak. We are luckily not in immediate danger, but the air quality is too poor to stay open.
Keeping my fingers crossed for your safety here.
I’m out in the western side of the 909. Nothing direct, but the freeways are going to be a huge mess going through the Cajon Pass as the 15 and 215 are closed.

@narfcake ouch. Just looked at the traffic maps up that way… UGLY! Just observing from Temecula.
I can see the fire just a bit from my balcony :
I’m in the NOHO Arts District, so we may end up in a voluntary evac zone
Three different fires
The one up by Ventura area looks the worst
But that can change.
We had staff trapped up the 15 between us and the high desert. Hope he managed to get home.
Stay safe everyone
@Cerridwyn I am near the Ventura one. Based on what I have read, most schools are planning on staying closed tomorrow.
@ConAndLibrarian I would hope so cause the smoke will be aweful
@Cerridwyn just got the text that the school I work at will be closed tomorrow.
@ConAndLibrarian
Not surprised.
Stay safe
I have family in Oxnard, but no one up your way
Have a friend that have lost their home in the Ventura fire. Other friends and family members are in mandatory evac zone and waiting it out at a distance. Many others are nearby and nervous. My mom has been without power for a majority of the last 24 hours.
I’m quite close to the Sylmar/210 fire. Driving into the smoke on my commute home was like driving into hell. Or a war zone. Except actually hell, not the “hell known as the 405” hell.
@Collin1000 I have not been able to get a hold of everyone I know in Ventura yet, I am hoping everyone has been able to get out safely. I know a few coworkers have lost their homes, I imagine there will be more.
@ConAndLibrarian
A niece, her dog and boyfriend all evacuated today.
Sending good luck wishes to you - I know what you’re going through. Get hold of some high quality breathing masks early if you can.

Be safe!
Hoping everyone stays safe and sound! Here’s a map of the fires: https://firemap.sdsc.edu/
@callow Thanks for the link- I have a friend in San Diego i like to check on.
@callow Thanks for the link! I knew that fire was huge, but I had no idea it was that big. BF is going for a job interview next week in San Luis Obispo, hoping we can actually get there.
@Fuzzalini Are you flying into Santa Barbara? If so, you all will miss it.
@ConAndLibrarian No, I’m driving from Orange County. The hill by the Getty is on fire too, but I’m sure they’ll have that under control by then.
So scary! Hope all are well. I’m generally far enough away from any fire, though Pendleton burns on the regular and I get a lot of smoke here. Take care all!
Mildly glad there’s nothing here in the desert to burn. It’s been raining all night and day here, way too cold to be enjoyed, I’ll wish it your way. Everyone please be safe.
Are many businesses and offices shut down for the duration of the freeway closures?
Please, everyone, don’t risk your safety. (Tho I know you won’t.)
@f00l I think every business is taking a different approach. My gym just text to say they are closing due to poor air quality. I know some businesses have closed because of staffing issues. My campus will be open tomorrow, with the caveat that we may close if things get worse. We are starting finals on Monday, it’s going to be interesting to see how it is all handled.
