45 Mehs in a row and not a single purchase... Starting to lose my impulsive buying habits since I got this baby last month. Not this baby, my baby girl human. Why do I feel it is necessary to go that far?
@haydesigner If meh offered one with the Billet Iron face and the Capsule Iron bezel (hopefully I'm using bezel correctly) I'd probably be in for one...and I haven't worn a watch in 15+ years. I may have to check Amazon to see if such a creature exists.
Why did they design a set of watches that are so difficult to read at first glance or in low-light situations and then market them to the "420" crowd? Black hands on a black dial? White hands on a white dial? Really? I don't know about you all, but after 4:20pm I personally need a really, really easy to read watch!
@radi0j0hn Unfortunately you missed my sarcastic point regarding these hard-to-read watches that are branded by The House of Marley. I wasn't really seeking watch purchasing advice, lol. Peace!
I'm a sucker for a nice watch. But that wood trim... not so much. Too bad there's no Billet Midnight. Oh well, I'll mull it over 'till the morning. If they're still here, maybe I'm your huckleberry.
A watch that you could actually read would be too "util." Actually the one for $40 on the Amazon link has white hands on a black background. I guess readability costs more.
Hrrrrrgh, sort of want! I know that these will be comfortable as hell because I pretty much can't take off these wonderful headphones Meh sold me on like a week ago that just arrived today. I absolutely love this brand all of a sudden.
Strikes me as just a cheap designer-type watch, but I'm biased. I've got too many watches which are all mechanical and, therefore, expensive. It's a money sucking interest, don't get started if you ever want spare cash on hand, because I'm always looking at the next watch to buy. Here's what I'm wearing today: http://imgur.com/EyxRs4y. It's a Flieger type watch based on the ones used by German WWII pilots. 47mm in diameter. The originals were like 55mm (dinner plate sized).
@DonberKon Nice watch. Not many of us "dumb" watch fans left. "always looking at the next watch to buy" is a curse, innit. Currently I'm strung up on finding a genuine Soviet era Poljot or Vostock non-commemorative with a 24 hour movement. Tons of crappy repops out there, but it's rare to find an authentic Soviet with 24 hour movement that hasn't been beat to hell and gone.
@bakafanboy yes, I've heart of orient. Generally, though, for Japanese watches, I stick to Seiko. I had an SKX007 for a while before selling. I also have a 6138 Brown Bullhead, a King Seiko 4502-7000, and I just traded a watch for a 6139 "Darth Helmet". I am currently in the market for an sbbn007 "Tuna".
@DonberKon i miss my watch collection, were all stolen, haven't worn a watch in years now. But I'm in for one, doubt it's a good watch, maybe a gift. dirty-alert-kraken
While i don't have a ton of money into watches, I've gotten bitten by the bug, too. My daily wears are a 1960's omega seamaster automatic, and a rectangle faced citizen eco drive. The omega needs a servicing, as it's only correct for a day or two, even when wound regularly. I have a ton of cheaper fashion watches - fossil, invicta, etc... and they are nice for what they are, too.
These house of marley watches? almost no reviews... horrendously over-priced "retail" - reminds me of a brand i got as a gift set from someone - joshua and sons. Decent looking watches actually - but very sporty and not my style. I left them in my watch box, without ever really wearing them (it was a set of two). About 3 months later i noticed one of them would get stuck in place, and even have one of more of the hands fall backward. The other one started having similar issues within a couple of months. They both broke at their most basic functions while sitting in a watch case unworn.. lol. They too had these "est retail" of 199.00 or so.
@Goatcrapp My daily wear watches are all "fashion watches". I much prefer to rack up the wear and tear on a $100 Reactor than a $500 Seiko or $1,000 TAG. And those are cheap compared to some of the nice stuff some of you are talking about!
@DonberKon Nice Poljot! I'm a big fan of that... no idea what the actual name is... Seamaster style case. My (poor man's Omega) Zodiac Seadragon has a very similar shape.
@DonberKon I have an odd MIR Soviet era quartz watch. Didn't know they had the technology. But my fav's are my Vostok commemorative pocket watch (mechanical) and my cheesy "People's Liberation Army" quartz pocket watch from China.
"It's way too early to say that the Apple Watch and its imitators have saved the watch industry. But people are thinking more about watches. The idea's not dying anymore."
Starbucks is credited with pretty much the same thing in coffee. Yeah, you didn't want them targeting your coffee shop personally (which they did do regularly during the '90s and '00s -- look up their old "clustering" strategy), but they made the idea of going out for fancy coffee, or halfway decent coffee at all, cool to average Americans. Before they got big the best coffee most people in the US were drinking was Maxwell House on day 1 of a new 39-ounce can. Now there's Starbucks freakin' everywhere, but also Caribou, Peet's, and a boatload of independents. McDonald's upped its coffee game about 10 years ago because of Starbucks. Even my podunk WV town has a really nice independent coffee shop or two going at any given time, and two more up the mountain in Shepherdstown. (Current shout-out to Black Dog Coffee: http://www.blackdogcoffee.net/ )
@brhfl Yeah, Lost Dog is another favorite of mine :) If you live in the area and haven't been to Black Dog, I highly recommend it. It's right off WV-9 just north of the DMV.
Happy Creek is the other one in Shepherdstown I go to (and before them, Hypnocoffee in the same location) -- they have older locations in Northern VA too. There's also Mad Monks coffee shop/bakery opening soon in the old Jumpin' Java location in Charles Town.
@twinesurge 1) It's more 69.violet 2) It only works with the Nokia 8110 3) No I don't but I know Carl Douglas 4) Sandy 5) Because it can 6) Why not both? The Dude

Meh. Not because I don't like it (I think it looks pretty good), and not because I don't like analog watches (it's nice having a watch where you only need to deal with the battery every few years, or better yet, for automatics, never at all)... but because I already have too many watches.
I kinda like - but the watches with the dark dial and hands would be hard to read in less than bright light?
//update// Egads...now I know why they are on meh - most of the watches have their dials match their hands in color - would be difficult to read without good light (I don't imagine they lume their hands and markers either)...talking about putting form before function...
However I am considering one or two of the more readable versions (where there is a contrast between the arms and dial)
I don't wear watches, but if I did I'd grab one of these. Picked up the house of marley bluetooth headphones that were on here about a week ago and they are fantastic. Well made, sound great, very comfortable. If those same qualities transfer over to their watch department then these might be pretty nice watches. I mean I don't know though, I don't wear watches.
So I just now remembered impulse buying the billet iron model on Friday night (I was about 6 or so beers in at that point), but after looking at the other pics I wish I woulda went with the capsule midnight one..

@dagirlgenius@Zay520 Did you pull out the little white plastic tab between the watch crown and the watch? You have to pull that out and push the crown in to start the battery.
I like. Since my loved Tchibo watch broke (after accident involving freefall from some height), and I’m not sure, whether it could be repaired again, I’m looking around for a new device. That Tchibo watch was originaly for about $ 100, but later price dropped to about $50…
And I’m facing a problem – watches seem to tending to be huge, ugly and/or expensive
Other manufacturer’s interesting stuff:
Skagen (lovely, only band IMHO shoul be plain…) or Stuhrling http://jonsguide.org/best-top-stuhrling-watches-reviews/
Also Timex do have some watches I like so (except those HUGE numbers, IMHO there shouldn’t be any) or so (numbers again…)
When I got mine, it worked for a day and then I noticed that it was stopping occasionally. I changed the battery with one I had in the house. No change, but that battery was a bit out of date so I bought a new one. Same thing. This watch is a dud.
@halnwheels How did you get the back off to change the battery? I usually change all my own watch batteries but I have tried and tried to get the back off this and it won’t budge! Any tips?

Meh
So what is this? Some kind of... dumb watch?
F Watch... yeah, that pretty much sums up what I was thinking when I saw today's Meh.
A review on the same watch bit different style (I think it's the same)
"Sometimes it gets stuck and stays in the same hour for a lot of time..." 1/5 stars
@Nexar Pfft, wait 12 hours and it'll be working again.
"And sometimes the watch was moving, but it seemed like time was, like, standing still or something."
About ."time" server worked oh and deal is about time so "watch" out!
meh said wood
@somf69
@thismyusername

I don't understand, how does this connect with my phone? Where are the notifications? Can I turn off the time app?
@awk
Doesn't say how many hours it runs on a charge.
@awk And is it Mac compatible?!

Was looking for a smart watch....

Redundant timehng device!
45 Mehs in a row and not a single purchase... Starting to lose my impulsive buying habits since I got this baby last month. Not this baby, my baby girl human. Why do I feel it is necessary to go that far?
One of the (apparently multitudes of) variations of this watch is selling for $40 on Amazon.
@haydesigner If meh offered one with the Billet Iron face and the Capsule Iron bezel (hopefully I'm using bezel correctly) I'd probably be in for one...and I haven't worn a watch in 15+ years. I may have to check Amazon to see if such a creature exists.
@hutchnow Can't find what I was looking for...crapped the F out.
Gonna sock this puppy away in the closet for way more than $35 of awesome Father's Day gift. "I gave that dad a watch... Dads love watches."
14 mm thick - so over half an inch. Is that right? Seems awfully chunky.
@bdb well they had to put the bluetooth module somewh.... oh wait.
Why did they design a set of watches that are so difficult to read at first glance or in low-light situations and then market them to the "420" crowd? Black hands on a black dial? White hands on a white dial? Really? I don't know about you all, but after 4:20pm I personally need a really, really easy to read watch!
@Kerig3 Timex Indeglo
@radi0j0hn ??? These have no Indiglo so I don't understand your reply.
@Kerig3 If you want a watch that you can read in the dark, the Indiglo watches from Timex light up. But they are just....watches.
@radi0j0hn Unfortunately you missed my sarcastic point regarding these hard-to-read watches that are branded by The House of Marley. I wasn't really seeking watch purchasing advice, lol.
Peace!
@Kerig3 is the 420 reference something related to the ate mr. marley, or some other urban legend?
oh, nevermind http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=420
Quartz movement? Mechanical or bust I say
I'm a sucker for a nice watch. But that wood trim... not so much. Too bad there's no Billet Midnight. Oh well, I'll mull it over 'till the morning. If they're still here, maybe I'm your huckleberry.
Screw it. It's only money. I'll make more.

A watch that you could actually read would be too "util." Actually the one for $40 on the Amazon link has white hands on a black background. I guess readability costs more.
I bought one because my Omega Seamaster needs Social Justice balancing.
@1337 Your Seamaster would be well balanced if you sent it here to spend the summer with my Zodiac Seadragon...
@1337 Your Seamaster could have a playdate with my Omega Chronostop.
@halnwheels
I have a few Timex Indiglos from Ebay that would love a new friend from Omega.
Rasta!

@DonberKon That is absolutely beautiful. I checked out the company and site, I might have to start saving my pennies.
Have you heard of Orient?
@ruouttaurmind I actually have a soviet Poljot 3133 chronograph: https://imgur.com/iMIWetT
It's a 1987 as far as I can tell from research. Just got it back from service.
@bakafanboy yes, I've heart of orient. Generally, though, for Japanese watches, I stick to Seiko. I had an SKX007 for a while before selling. @DonberKon Recently picked up one of these (an homage made in collaboration with the original designer)...
These Marleys are interesting enough to pick up one or two @ $35 (a pittance for those of us bitten by the collector bug).
@DonberKon i miss my watch collection, were all stolen, haven't worn a watch in years now. But I'm in for one, doubt it's a good watch, maybe a gift.

@kensey Well that was confusing for a minute when you mentioned Shepherdstown and then a coffee shop with 'dog' in the name that wasn't 'Lost Dog.'
@brhfl Yeah, Lost Dog is another favorite of mine :) If you live in the area and haven't been to Black Dog, I highly recommend it. It's right off WV-9 just north of the DMV.

Can we please get this wonky fad over with and strap a two-by-four (not a sales order number) to our wrist?

Not really a fan of the fancy wood accents. I don't think I've ever seen a watch with wood before! ...that's not what I meant!
@cpierce Heh heh... he said wood!
I thought these look pretty nice, but now that I have smart watch, no need for a simple one.
I have very important and very serious questions that are also very important:
•What version of Bluetooth does it support? [Editor's note: if it's not 37.purple, nobody cares.]
•Does in sync my number of steps with my phone (Nokia 8390)?
•Do you know Kung Foo (see what I did there?)?
•Favorite cat name?
•Why is a fly?
•Jimmy Jib or Cammate?
Love,
@twinesurge
1) It's more 69.violet
2) It only works with the Nokia 8110
3) No I don't but I know Carl Douglas
4) Sandy
5) Because it can
6) Why not both?
The Dude
Nope. I want a pocket watch. That way I can have my phone in one pocket and a watch in the other.
Why no Billet Midnight? Aaah!

Flava Flave!!!!!!!
They are not terrible looking (one or two better than that) and the price-point is right, but the even with the existence of the Apple Watch, why would I get another watch when I have little interest in wearing the ones I have now?
@ACraigL
The existence of the Apple Watch is not transformative for some of us (Nexus 6, Note 4, tho use an iphone for audiobooks).
This watch isnt very transformative for me either....
No calendar - how am I supposed to know what day it is?
I'm not buying another bluetooth watch that doesn't connect to my bluetooth devices.
How long is the wrist strap.
The older I get, the more I like things that do one thing.... if only there were one thing I could do besides click the "I want this" button.... vigorous-nebular-yogurt
These are already showing up on ebay with pictures that appear to be screen caps of the MEH photos.

Are these made of hemp or something?
Meh. Not because I don't like it (I think it looks pretty good), and not because I don't like analog watches (it's nice having a watch where you only need to deal with the battery every few years, or better yet, for automatics, never at all)... but because I already have too many watches.

One Billet Harvest, thank you!
I don't wear watches, but if I did I'd grab one of these. Picked up the house of marley bluetooth headphones that were on here about a week ago and they are fantastic. @Dizavid is that even showing? http://postimg.org/image/orp1c30j5/
Cheers!
Pretty swank for the price. Packaging tends to be Luxe.
So I just now remembered impulse buying the billet iron model on Friday night (I was about 6 or so beers in at that point), but after looking at the other pics I wish I woulda went with the capsule midnight one..
http://imgur.com/sypQFnb
Just opened my Marley Billet Iron dumbwatch. I don't hate it. Clearly it's just a fashion watch, or as @DonberKon referred to it, a "designer-type" watch, but it feels reasonably solid, and looks well made for the price range. Although the leather strap is a bit on the shorter side. But for me (6', thinnish 150#) it's a good fit. The larger guys are going to struggle with the length of the strap though. I'll likely replace it with a olive drab, or maybe cammo NATO strap, or perhaps a nice oiled leather NATO.
Definitely among my favored purchases from Meh.
Not sure what happened with the image, but...

Just received my capsule midnight. It
looks nicer than in the pics.Even my wife likes it!
Just got my Billet watch. How do you set the day of the week, though?
Here's what I've figured out / got to work:
Pull the crown out two clicks: you can set the Hour/Minute by spinning the crown in either direction
Pull the crown out one click: you can set the day of the month (1-31) by spinning the crown counter-clockwise
But no luck getting the day of the week to move. Would have thought it would be done by spinning clockwise with the crown half-out.
Anyone know how to set it, or if mine might just be borked?
@Yoooder I think you have to cycle through 24 hours at a time with the crown pulled all the way out. Every 24 hours the day will change. Kind of a pain but once it is done once it should be good to go.
@MEHcus thanks, that was it
@MEHcus except in a leap year
@Yoooder I was having the opposite problem- couldn’t get the date of the month to cycle- your suggestion of pulling halfway and turning counter-clockwise saved Father’s Day (I’ve been holding on to this thing for two months as a present). Thank you, Yoooder!
Gorgeous.
Love it except for when it gets dust on it and it casts a shadow. That's a little annoying, but it looks and feels great.
Did everyone else's come with a battery? Mine isn't keeping time.
@Zay520 I'm on a business trip right now and the battery appears to have died. I'll check it when I get home but what a pain in the ass.
Mine arrived DOA :(
@dagirlgenius @Zay520 Did you pull out the little white plastic tab between the watch crown and the watch? You have to pull that out and push the crown in to start the battery.
@densa Yeah I did. I even called the manufacturer to troubleshoot. Their determination was that it was DOA too.
People have commented on my watch. They like it. Feels good, man.
i bought the white one for my 25 yr old daughter, it’s huge, not feminine at all, the dial is bigger than her wrist
@DMlivezey this could very well be the wrong marley watch thread, oh well, take another hit and move on
@DMlivezey Go to your orders, under the watch click, “Discuss my rad purchase” - it’ll take you right to the correct product thread.
I like. Since my loved Tchibo watch broke (after accident involving freefall from some height), and I’m not sure, whether it could be repaired again, I’m looking around for a new device. That Tchibo watch was originaly for about $ 100, but later price dropped to about $50…
