The best seller on Amazon is intriguing. I'm still on the fence with this small one... not sure it will be worthwhile in my small office due to the high HVAC air volume.
@VeeDubTDI We have a similar small holms filter. Kept up with a 12x12 room in a house, but not our newer larger bedroom. Commercial air is probably going to kill it.
@HELLOALICE I just copypasta'ed it from the specs above. The amazon listing for this also says it's compatible, but the filters page doesn't list it. Interesting. I blame @carl669
@Pufferfishy Yea, but it just boils down to that we can't have carpet, we have an air purifier in the bedroom (which makes nice white noise), and we have to wash the sheets/blankets/comforter every week.
Hmmm, little concerned about the loud noise comments specially the one that says there are three settings: 1) Very Low 2) Low 3) Standing behind a jet plane taking off.
@heartny The one I bought from Target is almost identical. I don't mind it in my bedroom as it makes for some nice white noise to drown out my roommate. It just sounds like air moving through a fan.
However, the reviewers are right. Setting 3? I never use it unless I'm leaving the house and my allergies seem worse. Too obnoxious to be around at setting 3 for me.
@tinsami1 I'm interested in this as well. If the filters are $10-15, it might be worth the extra $5-10 to be able to return it if I don't like it/if it's too loud/etc.
@tinsami1 As i understand it, "bonus filter" just means "comes with one filter" because for a time, they weren't sold with a filter. Ours also comes with a filter. You can call it a bonus if you'd like!

If Meh is going to sell crap like this that eats consumables, then they had better also include a boat load of the consumables. Bundle with a case of filters for cheap and I'll consider buying a few for people I know that have stinky homes.
ATK did a bit about baking soda in the fridge. It really works, in that baking soda neutralizes stink. But it really doesn't, in that there's relatively no air flow in a fridge, so the stink doesn't come in contact with the baking soda. What you need is a filter in front of a fan, but all of those geniuses working for Jack Welch never thought of that.
I'm reeeeeally considering biting on this one. I've actually been waiting for meh to sell an air purifier. Basically, my cats' litter boxes are kept in a closet and the air flow in my apartment is such that you can smell it anywhere (there's no alternative place to put it besides my bedroom closet or out in the open).
My thinking was that I'd create a "cat door" by having the door almost closed, blocking the top and the side and leaving space at the bottom for the cats to enter, and having a filter in there running on low at all times. Reviews say that speeds 1 and 2 are reeeally low, but that's good, because I don't want it pushing around the air a lot. Slow and steady.
My apartment air sucks because the heater in the basement has no filter, but in the summer that's not as much of an issue.
Thanks for starting my Friday off on a bad note. I woke up in the middle of the night hoping to spend some mehney....but not on something my grandmother would want. Shouldn't a Friday meh be fun?

@wishod I was about to say something about no need to be so mean about it until I read it again and then I felt like your reply was directed towards me in a weird way.
@JonT I was mad on myself for asking same question that was asked and replied just before mine. BTW if you have access to this device, maybe you can check if its power supply is universal (110-240v). most of similar devices work on DC and cheap and low power AC-DC converters are mostly universal nowadays
In for one. I recently moved into a 400 sqft studio. I hope this will be powerful enough to make clean all of that space. It will be teamed up with my Himilian Rock Salt ionizer.
@nzdod Consumer Reports says no, ionizers may not be safe for some. "Ozone from ionizing air cleaners is a growing concern as sales increase. People with asthma or respiratory allergies are especially sensitive to indoor ozone, an irritant that can worsen asthma, deaden sense of smell, raise sensitivity to pollen and mold, and may cause permanent lung damage." Don't turn on the optional ionizer.
Wow I just love humidifiers and power banks and all the other useless crap you put on here. Try selling a quality product. I don't know why I even check this site anymore.

Does it also double as a speaker dock? It is Speaker Dock Friday, after all.
I've been shopping around, so meht as well try these.
"Monolithic design not necessarily sign of intelligent breakthrough." Exactly my thoughts.
I love the story behind this.
@abdulla239 me too, Holmes.
So close to pulling the trigger, but it is HEPA-type, not True-HEPA. This won't work for my wife's dust allergy. :(
@bruceoite dust allergy? Man that's gotta suck.
@bruceoite Just buy http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003LJTD50/?tag=meh0ec-20 along with this!
@Alien88 That doesn't list this model among the ones it's compatible with, though

@Romulux Thanks! That looks like it works! Waiting to see if she has a use for it, like her work office

I am an untainted child of the universe, in tune with earthly vibrations and the solar system itself. I have no need of purification.
Hmmm, little concerned about the loud noise comments specially the one that says there are three settings: 1) Very Low 2) Low 3) Standing behind a jet plane taking off.
@heartny I like the loud noise, might be the only reason I would buy this.

@heartny Yup. Inside a 10x11 foot room? I don't think so. For a loud size, give me 2x the volume. Please.
@heartny My different model same brand filter only gets set to high for an hour after vacuuming.
The $49.99 at Amazon comes with a "Bonus Filter". It's $47.95 without the bonus. Does this come with the Bonus Filter?
@tinsami1 I'm interested in this as well. If the filters are $10-15, it might be worth the extra $5-10 to be able to return it if I don't like it/if it's too loud/etc.

@Moose I don't know who was selling these without a filter. I got one at Target and it definitely came with a filter...

@eyewerks Yeah, like 30 pieces for $8 or 20 pieces for $10.

Baking soda doesn't really do anything, but you can't really expect arm & hammer to come out and tell everybody.

@HELLOALICE Get a Cat-It enclosed litter box with door. They work very well, as we have two cats with very little litter box odor.
edit: hmm - had to use chrome to order, meh not playing nice with my firefox /adblocker
I would like to know where to buy the filters, and how much are they? Cuz Filters can be expensive, especially if there is no prefilter.
@Mandamm This is what I need to know too. Not easy to buy filters, then it is useless.
@Mandamm @mick Target sells them. Pretty sure I have this same model in my room right now too.
@Mandamm http://www.holmesproducts.com/filters/aer1/aer1-hapf30atcs-total-air-with-dust-elimination-replacement-filter/HAPF30ATCS.html
@Mandamm This model with included filter appears to also come with a prefilter that inserts over the actual one.
Thanks for starting my Friday off on a bad note. I woke up in the middle of the night hoping to spend some mehney....but not on something my grandmother would want. Shouldn't a Friday meh be fun?
How long should 1 filter usually last?
is it possible 220V or 240V? only 100V?

Mac compatible?

Almost meh'd it, but ended up buying... 110 sqft is the exact dimension of my office room. Hope it works... Are ionizers safe?
@nizdod They ionize you, so you cannot harm anything. I mean, yea, it makes a safer world.
@nzdod Consumer Reports says no, ionizers may not be safe for some. "Ozone from ionizing air cleaners is a growing concern as sales increase. So much for my Meh button-a-thon. Actually something I need.
@Otis_T_Slim you can still press it...
I have permission from my wife to buy this. That's new!
@MechaJustin You should bank that for something even more awesome.
So it's a bath for the air in your house?
Wow I just love humidifiers and power banks and all the other useless crap you put on here. Try selling a quality product. I don't know why I even check this site anymore.
@brentnice Humidifier eh?
@brentnice
What is the point of this? Isn't that what a furnace filter is for?
OK. Should I buy this or not? Please make a decision on behalf of me.
Ha, sold out at 4:18, couldn't make it to 420?
