@mikey growing up the motors were always pronounced with a different sound than troll the mythical creature, kinda like trawl but not as harshly different with the sound.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
To clarify troll, trolling motor, and trawl all had distinct pronunciations with trolling being somewhere in between troll and trawl in terms of sound. Could be a regional thing like I said. Round these parts if you go to a classic ice cream place and order a milk shake you’re liable to literally get shaken milk.
@jbartus yes, Frappes and jimmies! Only pussies call them “sprinkles”. Don’t forget tonic (soda). My wife and I have this fight all the time. But she is from western MA and might as well be from NY, because anything west of Worcester is not really MA. And @jbartus is right - milkshakes don’t have ice cream in them.
@Sammydog01 “cah” what? Plus I have lost most of my accent unless I drink.
@jbartus I mean, anything is possible, but Tonic water was a Tonic because the quinine within cures malaria. But it’s so bitter, someone thought ‘hey let’s just go ahead and mellow this shit out with GIN.’
Looking at the site design I suspect it was written back in the 90s. I mean shit, Kevin White is dead and he was mayor from the 60s until the begining of Dukakis’ second governorship so that dates the page right there.
I want a Hoodsie now, by the way, thanks for that.
Doesn’t really matter to me who wins, Bernie or Trump, or whoever Libertarians and Greens choose, as long as it’s not the warmongering fascist tyrant Hillary the 1st, the Destroyer of Nations.
@djslack Yep, and he seems to be a pretty reasonable candidate. I might disagree with him on some points, but personal freedom and non-interventionism appeal to me a lot. I’d prefer Ron Paul though, but he seems to be retired.
@macromeh Exactly my point! Both of those families are deeply corrupted.
@DMlivezey I don’t feel bad. In fact, I feel pretty good. Silently voting for status quo is not my choice. I am not exactly promoting a particular candidate either. Of the remaining pool, anybody but Hilldog.
@lisaviolet Here’s what I don’t understand. Why not liking Hillary is considered chauvinist? If anything, I think she’s the same as Cruz, Rubio, Bush, McCain, Romney and such. A war-hawk, regardless of her sex. And meanwhile there are Jill Stein and Elisabeth Warren - two well-known female politicians with views that actually make sense. One of them is even running for president.
Anyway, just my two cents at breaking the rules. Viva La Resistance!
@lisaviolet So… these days you get a woman card for supporting a female candidate? If I vote for Jill Stein will I be a woman?
Just kidding! I get what you mean & my rant was just about the media mumbo-jumbo that’s going on. I think candidates must be chosen regardless of sex, race and religion.
@serpent Hillary’s campaign had a thing if you donated, you got a “woman card”. I collect stuff. I figured it would be a fun collectible. I could flash it.
Ugh. I hate it. I hate what our system has become. Whether you think I’m referring to inclusion of politics on a daily deal site or American politics in general and how everyone sucks, is entirely up to you.
I’ll put it this way. I haaaaaaate people with overblown ego. Hate them. Like, hot fireplace poker to the butthole hate them. Lol
@Dizavid Yea, im not engaging you nor condoning your behavior. I hate them ALL. In somewhat the words of Epic Rap Battles; the president shall not be shiniest of several turds.
Will me stating my opinion change anyone else’s opinion? Doubtful. Do I think it’s important for there to be political discussion? Yes, I do. Lack of discussion is a sign of apathy. I just don’t think apathy is a good way to go.
@AnnaB I think you forgot an important word. "meaningful"
I hope you do not mind I used your words.
Will me stating my opinion change anyone else’s opinion? Doubtful. Do
I think it’s important for there to be meaningful political
discussion? Yes, I do. Lack of meaningful discussion is a sign of
apathy. I just don’t think apathy is a good way to go. There are real
issues with both of the leading candidates. Everyone I have talked to,
that has a strong opinion on one side or the other does not seem to
fully understand the issues.
Yo, that is a really stupid story. Why is it trending? OF COURSE Paul Ryan is going to vote for Donald Trump. Every one of these establishment crybabies is going to suck it up and vote for Trump. Fuck you, establishment hacks! Swallow your pride and make America great again!
@ACraigL Fuck you, Trollpuppets 2016.
The sock puppet was a tool of big shoe.
“Maybe it bothers me more than it should!”
“Maybe it bothers me more than it should!”
“Maybe it bothers me more than it should!”
“Maybe it bothers me more than it should!”
I haven’t checked on this thread all day and I have to say, I’m rather disappointed in the general lack of acrimony. I expect better (or worse) from you people.
@cinoclav fuck you man. i can’t believe you’re not voting for the person i’m voting for. this means you are a terrible human being and more than that, you’re a cigarette smoking chicken fish. there. i said it.
Paul Ryan is likely doing what he must do to survive, given his position. Since he almost certainly quietly despises his party’s nominee, he’s in a tight spot, but i’m betting he can stay on his feet. And he’s already unofficially running in 2020, complete with bland feel-good vids shot and ready to air, according to some news sources.
First, I think it is pathetic that people can’t refer to candidates without resorting to calling them (really dumb) names.
Second, for 90% of us, it really doesn’t matter who you vote for. Votes do not matter in the presidential election. The Electoral College ensures that. If you don’t live in Ohio, Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, Virginia, or Florida… your presidential vote does NOT matter.
It is way, WAY more important to get informed and vote intelligently on YOUR LOCAL issues and politicians. They will invariably impact you much more directly than the presidential election. Spend your time and energy researching those things first and foremost.
Plus, ignoring the media circus/rhetoric will likely save some of your friendships. And friends are way more valuable than anything else.
/giphy hold onto your butts
@Thumperchick did you get a warning as a moderator?
@caffeine_dude nah
In before
How dare you bring your politics to a privately owned daily deal site… FOR SHAME YOU GUYS FOR SHAME.
I approve of Glen’s message.
You still have time. Keep moving people. This is going to get UGLY.
5 months left of this to go!
@djslack what is that?
@jbartus the biggest, most badass trolling motor I could find a picture of
@djslack I don’t get it
@jbartus TROLLING.
@PocketBrain but it’s pronounced differently
@jbartus Nope, don’t think so.
@sammydog01 maybe it’s a regional thing >.>
@jbartus Maybe this mix up? http://grammarist.com/usage/trawl-troll/
@mikey growing up the motors were always pronounced with a different sound than troll the mythical creature, kinda like trawl but not as harshly different with the sound.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Round these parts if you go to a classic ice cream place and order a milk shake you’re liable to literally get shaken milk.
@jbartus Apparently I need to know where ‘these parts’ are and exactly what kind of delicious ice cream/milk concoction I should order.
@cinoclav Massachusetts. Frappe. Also when you get an ice cream cone be sure to ask for jimmies.
@jbartus Then your region is weird.
/giphy weird region
@jbartus can I order my jimmies rustled?
@jbartus They also don’t know how to pronounce “car”.
@Thumperchick
@jbartus They’re jimmies in the Philly area too.
@mfladd I call them sprinkles.
/giphy come at me bro
@Thumperchick I don’t even know what to… why… but I can’t stop watching.
@Thumperchick You should watch the full video.
@DrunkCat I’ve seen it before. I genuinely hoped to never see it again. Alas, that is not how the internet works.
@Thumperchick I on the other hand am glad that a few things from the avi sharing era has survived.
@mfladd so what can I interest you in
/giphy bartender
@Thumperchick Bring it!
@mfladd uh… tonic seems to be a less universal thing I’m afraid, it’s soda for me and every native I know. Tonic is what you drink with your gin.
@cinoclav Philly is the New England of the Mid-Atlantic.
@DrunkCat I don’t even… what?!
@jbartus Yeah, tonic was what it was called when I was young (cost a quarter). You to be young to be remembering that shit.
@mfladd What are you drinking, cause I need one. ‘You to be young’, indeed!
@mfladd Are you sure everyone around you wasn’t just dying of malaria when you were young?
@brhfl I was thinking maybe polio
@jbartus I mean, anything is possible, but Tonic water was a Tonic because the quinine within cures malaria. But it’s so bitter, someone thought ‘hey let’s just go ahead and mellow this shit out with GIN.’
@mfladd sprinkles in WNY
@brhfl interesting, thanks for sharing that tidbit.
@jbartus @brhfl
Tonic
What other people call soda. In some Boston supermarkets, the signs will direct you to the “tonic” and “diet tonic” aisles.
https://www.bu.edu/mfeldman/Boston/wicked.html
@mfladd I have lived here my entire life and I have never been into a supermarket with a ‘Tonic’ or ‘Diet Tonic’ aisle.
@jbartus The , I think The Boston University link I referenced is including all Boston speak, past and present.
@mfladd for perpetuity?

@serpent I feel I speak for everyone here. You voiced your opinion of this election on this site. Boo, you.
@timgove That’s fine. I don’t speak for anybody but myself.
@serpent Libertarians chose Gary Johnson.
@serpent Agreed - No more Clintons, no more Bushes!
@timgove not everyone agrees apparently, based on the continued posts expressing views
@serpent, i got a good lashing when i mentioned religion related stuffs, so don’t feel bad
/giphy vote for peace
@PANOS1973 @Thumperchick random advertising?
@jbartus thanks for the tag.
@serpent I was gonna send money to the Hillary campaign so I could get a woman card to show the rat bastards blocking the ladies’ rooms around town.
Not that there are very many around here in librul socal.
@Thumperchick de nada. I might not be so good at ignoring the trolls but I try to be helpful when I can.
@djslack Yep, and he seems to be a pretty reasonable candidate. I might disagree with him on some points, but personal freedom and non-interventionism appeal to me a lot. I’d prefer Ron Paul though, but he seems to be retired.

@serpent Where did I say that? I just want a woman card to make it official that I’m a woman. Or something like that.
She’s not my candidate of choice.

@serpent I don’t get religious but amen!
@lisaviolet Well daymn, I didn’t know that, sorry. That’s sure a nice gimmick to implement. It’s as if Bernie’s campaign did BernieBro jerseys.
@serpent Bernie sent out little decals with a bird on them that say “Berdie”. Got one.
Ugh. I hate it. I hate what our system has become. Whether you think I’m referring to inclusion of politics on a daily deal site or American politics in general and how everyone sucks, is entirely up to you.

IT’S A TRENDING TOPIC
@matthew populist!
@AnnaB I think you forgot an important word. "meaningful"
I hope you do not mind I used your words.
:
@caffeine_dude I feel like you added a lot more than just ‘meaningful’ to their post. That, or my browser is really screwed up.
@AnnaB Hears the crowd chanting “APATHY! APATHY! APATHY!”
@matthew awesome video man. and I hate glen but awesome video even with glen in it. He actually makes it funnier.
We could all agree to ignore anyone that disparages the meh staff or fellow mehtizens.
@KDemo
Yo, that is a really stupid story. Why is it trending? OF COURSE Paul Ryan is going to vote for Donald Trump. Every one of these establishment crybabies is going to suck it up and vote for Trump. Fuck you, establishment hacks! Swallow your pride and make America great again!

I’m tired of voting for the lesser of evils.
@rockblossom CTHULU FHTAGN
@rockblossom I’d vote for that! Move the capital to R’lyeh, where it belongs.
@carl669 what are the glyphs?
@jbartus MEHCRONOMICON
@carl669 I meant the actual glyphs. I assumed that was what you wrote with them.
@jbartus not actually sure. i just downloaded a nox arcana font and that’s what showed up.
I haven’t checked on this thread all day and I have to say, I’m rather disappointed in the general lack of acrimony. I expect better (or worse) from you people.
@cinoclav fuck you man. i can’t believe you’re not voting for the person i’m voting for. this means you are a terrible human being and more than that, you’re a cigarette smoking chicken fish. there. i said it.
@carl669 Sorry. Gotta post this. It’s your fault.
@carl669 now that’s an interesting tarducken maybe it’s a tarfishen?
@sohmageek i’m thinking it’s a chishen.
@carl669 But wait, how do you know who I’m voting for?
@cinoclav It’s opposite day! So, whoever you vote for, @carl669 isn’t!
@lisaviolet That’s a shame because I was voting for @carl669
@cinoclav would it help if i was on the ticket as VMVP? (very mediocre vice president)
Bill Cipher 2016!!!
I don’t care who Paul Ryan is voting for, I am voting for Pedro.
Why bother to stage a chicken with Drumpf hair? They really exist. The expression, the coloring, the lips, everything.
Wow, no venom flung in my face this time. Maybe you old liberals have learned some tolerance.
So let’s have a fun 4-1/2 years.

@haydesigner I live in Virginia. I can’t stand the pressure!
