Hey Audiobook lovers
2Have you ever heard of (or listened to) Skyboat Media (https://skyboatmedia.com/). They are donating some products to a charity auction I will be attending. My offspring does audiobooks now and then, so was wondering about quality, etc.

I’d never heard of them, but i checked my Audible library and found I’d listened to a Shirley Jackson short story collection produced by. It featured several different narrators. It was very good.
Browsing their catalog. They don’t have a big selection. Most of my favored narrators are not represented. But they do have a few names I’m familiar with. Wil Wheaton, Bahni Turpin, Vicas Adam and a couple others.
The few samples I listened to were comparable to productions by other publishers.
I get my audiobooks free from my local library using Overdrive Media Console.
@jst1ofknd
Skyboat is (I think???) a producer of audiobooks.
Which they then sell themselves, in addition to licensing the content for digital sales and physical media sales …
and they prob have contracts to provide some of their audiobooks to libraries.
I’m not familiar with them off the top of my head. But if I’m correct that they produce recorded books, then I may well have listened to some of their productions.
@f00l I don’t think they sell them directly; they just produce thrm.
If you follow one of their links to buy a book it takes you to Downpour, which is Blackstone Audio’s retail division. they also link to iTunes. They may get a bigger cut from Downpour than from Audible, but it’s still another company’s retail site.
Just from browsing around the catalog I’d say that most people can find at least a few books from an author/genre that they like. If the auction item is something like “5 audiobooks from Skyboat” then I’d say it would be a perfectly safe and appreciated gift. It’s not a huge selection though so I wouldn’t go for more than a handful unless you know specifically that there is a lot there that Offspring likes.
