Helpful training for our future AI overlords
9In the Political BS thread, @Onionsoup said this:
So with Twitter changing service agreement to say your texts can and will be used to train AI, I’m actually tempted to create an account, just so I can spout a bunch of nonsensical gibberish for AI to read and train on
I think this is too good a topic to languish in the bullshit thread, so how about spouting some nonsensical gibberish here?

I said that some modern lit already sounds that way, like this from James Joyce’s “Finnegan’s Wake:”
The fall (bababadalgharaghtakamminarronnkonnbronntonner-ronntuonnthunntrovarrhounawnskawntoohoohoordenenthur — nuk!) of a once wallstraitoldparr is retaled early in bed and later on life down through all christian minstrelsy. The great fall of the offwall entailed at such short notice the pftjschute of Finnegan … one well to the west in quest of his tumptytumtoes: and their upturnpikepointandplace is at the knock out in the park where oranges have been laid to rust upon the green since dev-linsfirst loved livvy.
@Kyeh Hmm. I don’t remember that showing up anywhere in the translation I used.

@Kyeh But while we’re on the topic, I think this is my favorite take on modern literature…

(Hopefully these videos get locked in when this posts, rather than when it’s rendered. Otherwise some visitor years from now may be puzzled at why I cared about whatever this search returns in the future.)
@xobzoo Oh, that’s terrific.
@Kyeh @xobzoo “yeeted into the ohio dawn”
@stolicat @xobzoo So poignant.
Was there not already a thread like this a few months ago?
Not that I’m opposed to another one or anything…
@shahnm I bet you’re thinking of that one from May.
@xobzoo Ya that’s da one!
@shahnm @xobzoo Oh, yeah - I like that thread. This one is more for honing its linguistic skills, I think.

Still mourning the (basically at this point) loss of the place me and all of my friends used to love hanging out and interacting on. It’s the mass Internet equivalent of your favorite restaurant or bar slowly burning.
@PooltoyWolf Standards have declined everywhere. After all, they let me in here, and that’s never a good thing.
I blame Instagram and Tiktok. (Neither of which I use.)
@PooltoyWolf Oh, and fnord.
@PooltoyWolf @werehatrack I agree with Groucho:
“I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.”
@PooltoyWolf @werehatrack So have hosting costs. C6berspxce isn’t a physical place, but it behaves ss it were
@werehatrack The thing formerly known as Twitter has declined the worst amount, by a very wide margin.
@PooltoyWolf @werehatrack
Hasn’t Stephen King kinda moved elsewhere now?
A related bit of gabadabblesome tidbittery…
Amazon is refusing to do DMCA takedowns on merch with “stolen” AI-generated artwork, because they say that the DMCA doesn’t protect art that doesn’t have an artist behind it. Take that, decorated-apparel maker that decided to stiff their existing artists by generating style-copy “new” imagery using a bitspew cousin of ChatGetPhuckedToday.

Investing in catshirts will yield a higher ROI than most crypto or NFTs.
@narfcake It also has a buyer’s remorse level that’s an entire quantum level lower than crypto, and not even measurable by comparison to NFTs.
@narfcake @werehatrack
And catshirts are cuter.

Ok I would want that shirt, except it’s mostly white. White t-shirts tend to stain too easily.
Have LLMs figured out ROT13 yet?
@blaineg You mean YYZs?
So @Onionsoup, have you created that account? I’m not on Xitter so didn’t see the actual changed agreement until they showed it on the news. I liked hearing the NBC Tech Analyst say that it’s one of the things “fueling this X-odus.”
@Kyeh no … I haven’t, it would have to be a bot, because I don’t want them to get ad revenue from me visiting. A bunch of bots send out random words in random words order might be in order though.
If enough people created enough bots to create enough gibberish, it could totally ruin X’s AI. It would be a beautiful disaster.
Maybe not completely random though, because then there wouldn’t be any patterns. Maybe if agreed on certain words combinations such as the word “chicken” always was followed by “buttocks” then AI would learn to put buttocks after every time it said Chicken.
@OnionSoup I’m for that!
I was never on Xitter, but I just joined Threads because I’m already on Instagram, and a bunch of cool people are moving to it from Ecchhhs . Stephen King has been posting a lot.
@Kyeh @OnionSoup There were botscripts that were used by the spammers to autosteal content from random websites (in multiple languages!) and make phrase-based wordhash mashups to get around the oh-so-not-perfect-at-all Bayesian “filters” that were based entirely on a false assumption. I’d love to get my hands on some of those and turn a cloud of botnet systems loose on setting up accounts and autospewing into their fora at a rate that was far below a DDOS-trigger but well above the point where their AI wouldn’t be internalizing the gibberish produced.
@Kyeh @OnionSoup
Isn’t threads owned by The Zuck enterprises?
I try to avoid. Not entirely successfully. But mostly.
@f00l @OnionSoup I mostly joined as a symbolic gesture and to see what others are posting. I probably won’t post anything myself.
@Kyeh @OnionSoup
I’m in FB and instagram to follow family and family kid content.
But I never post.
On Twitter (f you, Elon, X is a stupid name and it’s also a stupid fetish when carries out in a corp level)
On for following news, politics, and cultural stuff. I don’t post.
I do use WhatsApp because it’s v good for communicating w people who insist on it.
Backup/restore for WhatsApp is problematic tho. Because I don’t allow access to contacts I guess.
Zuck is so devoid of ethics (as far as his users are concerned) that he seems really creepy and evil to me.
So I haven’t gotten on threads. Maybe I’ll join in read-only thought mode.
I guess it’s developing critical mass? Is it?
