Headphone question
2So I need new headphones. My 808 went missing and my Boom Swaps broke (they are sending me a new pair, good customer service but they pinch my head to much and the crinkle plastic cones drive me nuts). I’m still kicking myself for missing out on the House of Marley Liberate XL. I waited too long and I don’t see meh offering any more. I can spend $10 more and get them on e-bay, they look cool and I’m guessing sound great. Can anyone recommend them for $60 or should I be looking at other pairs at the price point?

Go back in time and get the Adidas Monster ones that were up here on Monday?
More seriously, do you want them for sports, audiophile, Bluetooth, do you need a specific cabling so you can take calls? On the go or at home? Noise canceling? Open back or closed back? Earbuds?
If you just want standard cabled music headphones, there are usually some decent wired Sony refurbs at Amazon for a tolerable price. Or go to slickdeals.net and search for “headphones”. Ignore anything with less than 10 net positive votes and 5 positive comments. Read back thru a few weeks of your search results to see various reviews.
I can dig out those Sony model #'s later today.
This is meh. Headphones will be back.
These from Amazon Basics are way better than their price. Approx $15.

The next two from Sony are used by tons of professional artist, recording, and radio people. I rate them above Beats (nothing against Beats but the twice too much price, for street headphones they’re fine, but $$$$).
Sony MDRV6 Studio Monitor Headphones

$73.50 from Amazon Warehouse. Don’t fall for the cheapest seller who gouges on shipping.
Sony MDR7506 Professional Large Diaphragm Headphone https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AJIF4E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
About $66 from Amazon Warehouse
For bluetooth, these are a bargain for the quality. Monoprice is s very reputable seller.

@f00l Thanks for the info. I mostly use it 3-4 hours a day at work and few hours a week mowing the lawn. I’ll check these out tonight. Thanks again for the advice.
@StrangerDanger
For lawn mowing, you may want to look at noise canceling ones, tho I don’t know if models like Bose QuietComfort are lawnmower proof.
Even better, for lawn mowing, you might want to look at a pair of Work tuned or similar - designed for machine shop type environments - and even for Howard Leight and similar (3M?) headsets designed for shooting ranges. The shooting range headsets will muffle an intense loud noise such as a gunshot, and the more sophisticated shooting headsets will allow you to hear spoken voice while saving your hearing from firearms. However, I don’t know that the shooting range sets will suppress constant noise, such as a lawnmower…for that, Work tuned might be a better design to muffle a constant noise.
OTOH, if your previous headphones were fine for lawn mowing, a decent pair of standard phones will likely take care of you now. Just make sure you buy a closed-back design.
The bluetooth ones might do well for lawn mowing, no cord! But buy nothing without reading many reviews.
@StrangerDanger
Got caught by auto-correct. Ouch. Sorry.
The shop headphones are “Worktunes” not “work tuned”, sorry. Amazon has them. Good, but read reviews. Slightly specialty item, might or might not be what you want. They make corded and bluetooth versions.
Also, whatever brand, be sure to get over-ear (not on-ear). Better sound, way more comfortable, and better lawnmower noise blocking.
Also, consider your head and ears. Big, medium, small. Some headphones will be too tight or too loose on diff people. This info is usually in reviews, important to check.
Also…any headphone that has in the reviews phrases like “I got this item at a discount in exchange for an honest review” or “I got this item for free in exchange for an honest review” is junk. Decent headphone manufacturers and sellers don’t pay for reviews. If there are paid, compensated, or gift reviews, that means the headphone is either overpriced or underperforms for the price.
Monoprice. $16 + shipping.

@narfcake
@StrangerDanger
Yeah, these too. Monoprice brand headphones consistently perform better than you expect, given the price.
These. (Oh wait. Did you say $60 or $60,000?) https://www.engadget.com/2015/11/03/sennheiser-new-orpheus-headphones/
