@sligett Some very nice spec bumps, and really great new features in the 3+. 1.4GhZ processor, dual band wifi, Gigabit Ethernet, and especially the ability to boot from external USB storage, plus PoE support. BT4.1 also, but… meh.
@ruouttaurmind Yeah, it won’t quite replace your main tech squeeze. However, I do shake my head at the whiners that are posting to the Raspberry Pi blog that the new model doesn’t include <feature>. It’s $35 for the board, for crying out loud. And they have managed to sell some 19 million Pis so far, so they must be doing something right.
@sligett I won’t be replacing my i7 laptop with one. Heck, I won’t even bother replacing my model 3. But I do see lots more potential. It’s certainly more viable for vertical applications and homebrews, but even it’s potential stuff like HTPC use has been enhanced.
@sligett I still have my Pi 1 running the USB bitcoin miners since it uses so little power. It is more than adequate to the task. And I have a 2 set up as a training box. But if I’d seen this while 3B+'s were in stock I would have bought one. Backorder saved me!
𝛑le on!
@2many2no Albert Einstein’s Birthday (1879)
and now Stephen Hawking’s last day.
That is relatively coincidental.
@2many2no
We make symbols as we go along. : )

@mike808 There’s a shirt for that, y’know.

(Do I get a cut for shamelessly advertising your design, @matthew?)
Relections on Pi
Still one of my favorite woot! shirts. Gave it to my son a few years back and he still wears it to work now and then.
Cool!

@sligett If you prefer your newsbytes in video form:

I was about to buy another one, now I have to wait until these are actually available. Because I can’t buy an “old” one now…

@shahnm You mean battery pie right?
Was looking at threads from 2016 and 2017.
Found this one:
