@tweezak
Must be nice. We’ve been in drought conditions for like a decade and it’s getting worse. The Rio Grande is already dry in some places, the earliest ever.
@kittykat9180 Be thankful your weather likely is doing a lot to keep the libs from Cali from taking over your state. We weren’t so lucky in Oregon. We used to be a very conservative rural state until democrats took over California and forced people to leave with the high cost of living. Then they came here, bought all the homes driving up prices and got a supermajority in state and federal offices. They pushed through vote by mail and now they will never “lose” another election.
Visit from my daughter and granddaughter (and one of her friends). Kids are down for an ACT boot camp my wife is teaching. Get to hang out with my daughter for a week, so good. Looks like it’ll be pretty rainy all week which would be good for the garden as long as we get a bit of sunshine between storms. Not really too unusual for this time of year. Temps are creeping back up, so yeah, swamp ass will become an issue. Pool will get significant use.
Last day up north and best weather yet. Probably would stay another day if wasn’t gonna rain all day tomorrow. Still could be warmer (I like it hot), next week goes back into the lower 70’s so yes it could be warmer, especially for this time of year.
@f00l
You have to love the way the French appropriate English terms into their vocabulary. Picnic is another one that comes to mind. Though TBH they actually have an official network (DGLFLF) that is responsible for incorporating or reassigning ‘equivalent’ french words into the French language.
@chienfou@f00l Japanese does a lot of that word appropriation, but they often change the word so it becomes more Japanese (easier to say for them.) Like “konbini” for “convenience stores.” And “sando” for sandwich, which has now started to show up in English sometimes.
Meh needs to be a choice
@Cerridwyn I think “Okay” is the stand in for meh.
@Cerridwyn Came here to say this.
Too damn hot, according to the current forecast.
@Kyeh I saw a forecast today that said to expect a swamp ass warning this week. Said we could be under a Swamp Ass Emergency by Tuesday
@Kyeh @togle
Not hot enough where I’m at.
@Star2236 @togle I wish we could trade.
@Kyeh “Too damn hot”
Confirmed, per weather.com today:
“Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas each had their record warmest spring in 2026.”
@Kyeh But be careful when you say, That’s hot.

@phendrick Oh bruther. I don’t like “hot” used that way anyway, but how the heck did she manage to get a trademark for THAT?
Don’t ask if you don’t want to know. I might tell you.
Forecast is 100% chance of rain.

@tweezak And so far they are correct…

@kittykat9180 @tweezak Yeah, this comment doesn’t belong here, there’s a whole thread specifically for you to post this kind of stuff.
@tweezak
I am a “lib from cali” that moved here 5 years ago.
@Kyeh @tweezak
Agreed.
@kittykat9180 @Kyeh @tweezak
I remember the
“Don’t Californicate Oregon” signs and bumper stickers years ago.
Made me chuckle…

@chienfou Sacré bleu! Imagine stealing from another language when yours is so full of expressions.
@chienfou
Do any younger French “don’t care about keeping everything in a state of French cultural purity” types -
The Gen Y, Gen Z, the kids, etc l, I mean
Actually bother to use the newer official French words?
Of do they just blow that off and default to the “semi-universal international slang” based in pop culture, movies, yt, TikTok?
Hmmm …
/8ball is week going well so far?
Cannot predict now
