Happy Mardi Gras!
4It's that magical time again when people get out of control crazy, and more importantly, drunk -- Tuesday! Oh and I guess it's Mardi Gras.
For those of us who can't be there (and I assume if you're reading this you're not at Mardi Gras right now…and if you are then stop reading this and go drink some more for me) here's a pretty damn good quality webcam (with sound). You can watch Bourbon Street, a balcony, and perhaps most exciting, a cam pointed directly at the karaoke stage.
It's still pretty early so it's relatively tame at the moment, but things are starting to pick up and I bet in a few hours it'll be a sight to behold. I just watched a spirited and rousing rendition of "You Shook Me All Night Long" by the self-proclaimed "Run DMV".
I've never been to New Orleans, but I've wanted to visit for a long time and hope I can make it out next year.
What are your best, craziest, and weirdest Mardi Gras stories?

Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!
I had pancakes for dinner once. It was CRAAAAAYYYY-ZZZZAAAAAYYYYY!
Of course, tomorrow it's Ash Wednesday.
Happy Paczki Day!
@pitamuffin February 12th is so last week.
I went to NOLA for Mardi Gras my freshman and sophomore years of college. I will not share any of the events that took place on that street, but I would return in a heartbeat.
@Moose - Happy meals?
@KDemo We did eat tiny burgers at Krystals
@Moose - I was just thinking that your picture looked like happy meals. They make you happy and you even get a little toy!
Boston is cranky as shit right now, nobody is celebrating.
Doesn't help that we are sitting at 95 inches of snow and the MBTA running at 50% for the next month, with more snow coming.
I dislike large crowds and would have a hard time there, what with the constant looking over my shoulder and the trying to hide in the corner. To each his own.
Cheers, yall!
That webcam sure has a lot of people milling about aimlessly in the bitter cold. It combines all of the excitement of not really going anywhere with the thrill of not really doing much.
Although I mock, I'm a big New Orleans fan. Either I keep looking at the wrong times or things just haven't gotten started yet. Hard to beat the music and food, though.
Went to New Orleans for our honeymoon.. if you want to go during a busy parade season, but miss the craziness of Mardi Gras, go for St. Patrick and St. Joseph Days. It was awesome. They throw almost all the ingredients for a corned beef dinner from the floats (minus the corned beef)!
@mikibell well if they don't throw the corned beef at you then what's the point?
^ Not a sentence I ever thought I would write or say.
@JonT muhhhahaha made you say something you never thought you would! I love it when an evil plan comes together. On St. Joseph's day, they throw fava bean, those suckers hurt if you don't catch them.
@JonT But you'd thought of that sentence before and said to yourself, "I will never write or say that"?
@jqubed not until I was in the process of writing it.
