I saw this last night. I can’t decide if I liked it. The songs were good but sounded…off…like a bad recording or hearing something with static at times…could just be me.
Loved it - fast moving, lots of activity. However, it was so fast moving that none of the circus scenes were all that visible, and by that I mean I would have liked to have been able to actually SEE some of the acts. I know that wasn’t the point of the movie, but still. And the music was great, although I was a bit disappointed that they were so pop-ish, and not as period as the costumes and time frame. Again, I understand the mindset of the producers and it makes sense that the music is more relatable to today’s viewers. But couldn’t Jenny Lind have sung a less pop-ish number?? However, overall, a big two thumbs up for entertainment value alone.
It’s at the top of my list, but I’m holding out for my Moviepass to get here. I’ve already paid full price for three movies since I bought the pass, none of the local theaters accept etickets.
hopefully you get your pass soon, @moondrake. @sammydog01@jbartus and whoever else got the pass… fyi, while paying for my movie the guy told me that we can watch 3D movies with the pass if we pay the difference in price.
The one theatre by me changed to reclining auditorium seating and they let me pay with two different cards and get seating next to each other.
@RiotDemon For reasons I don’t understand, that’s a violation of their TOS and they can cancel your card for it. It’s too bad, the person I regularly go to movies with is in love with Cinemark’s XD screens, which means I’m still going to have to pay put of pocket to go to movies with him.
@RiotDemon Paying the difference in cash. I’m not sure what you mean about 3D options in the app, I’d be curious to look at that. I haven’t explored the app much as I don’t have my card yet. I don’t see many 3D movies, they give me a headache, but it would sure be nice if I could use the card for at least part of the XD ticket price. I mostly see matinees anyway, so an XD matinee is still cheaper than a standard evening ticket.
@moondrake I mean when you click on the theatre to choose the movie. Mine keeps showing the 3d movies as something I can check into. I tried to look it up and didn’t find anything yet.
@RiotDemon This is from the TOS: “If you use your MoviePass Card for any purpose other than to purchase a 2D movie ticket at a theater kiosk, or we have reason to believe that you have done so, you acknowledge and agree that we have the right to charge a fee of $25 (twenty-five U.S. dollars) (“Penalty Fee”) per occurrence on the form of payment you provided to us for your MoviePass subscription.”
But what I’ve seen in forums is people having their accounts canceled when they are caught.
Took my granddaughter to see it (for her 2nd time). I had not planned on seeing it because I do not like musicals and it just didn’t look appealing to me. I did enjoy it more than I thought I would. It was entertaining and I didn’t know Jackman could sing.
@moondrake Yeah… my granddaughter filled me in on that. But, like I said… I don’t care for musicals so I never saw les miz or apparently any of the others he did. I can deal with the Wizard of Oz and The Grinch that Stole Christmas. Probably 1 or 2 others I can’t think of at the moment. I was wanting to go see Jumanji but it was her bday so…
I saw it- my daughter is a theater person and wanted to go. I enjoyed it- even that high school musical guy was good.
I misread the title, was expecting a really awesome snowman, where’s that goat at what for me to blame n’ such?
@nogoodwithnames Ditto.

@sugarpike that was my complaint. I wanted to see more of the other characters… especially tattoo man. He looked like a tattooed Jake Gyllenhaal.

@moondrake the 3d thing? Cuz they show 3d options in the app now.

@RiotDemon My app shows the 3D movies as gray and not selectable.
@sammydog01 ah, you’re right. I double checked and see it.
Maybe the guy at the theatre wants me to get my card cancelled, lol
@RiotDemon I bet he just likes you.
@sammydog01 ooh, he was around 60. Looking for a younger lady perhaps?
@RiotDemon Then definitely. I bet you can score free popcorn if you try.

@lseeber He sang in les Miserables. I understand he’s been doing some stage musicals as well.
