@magic_cave yea every holiday season I eyeball the bundles so I can get one to… I dunno… cut cardstock? lol they need to land around $99 and I might bite.
@thismyusername@magic_cave, @mflassy, meh’s crafting contingent lured me into drinking the crafty Kool Aid a few months ago. I grabbed mine on eBay for about $160 delivered, no sales tax (this was during one of eBay’s frequent 20% discount coupon events). Mine didn’t include the extra materials bundled with the Woot! package, but for that extra $40 I saved I was easily able to buy an equal amount of materials I got to select. Stuff I figured I would be more likely to use.
So far I’ve only used it a couple of times, but I was pretty impressed with what it can do. Although when I see the stuff @lisaviolet has cobbled up with hers it blows my mind.
@lisaviolet and @mikibell have been exceptionally helpful, and patiently answered all my ignorant newby questions and have been a wonderful resource for deal tips and materials sources.
The woman who does svgcuts is absolutely amazing. Her mother gave her a Silhouette as a present one year and Mary ran with it. She designs all of those things herself. She’s got a kit with a working clock, kits with lamps, adorable buildings (I made Maple Manor for a friend’s birthday who is really into Halloween) and so much more.
SVGcuts won the Martha Stewart American Made contest back in 2013. That’s Leo next to Martha and Mary next to him. (They also got married on the trip to New York. Then divorced last year. Mary just got re-married last weekend…damn, I really know to much about people I don’t know)
3dsvg is run by Leo and I think he was the driving force behind Mary’s success at svgcuts (see the link for the Martha Stewart American made contest). He’s an awesome marketer and he’s really talented with the things he does. He has a team who designs the paper crafts his store sells.
If you want to try your hand at the types of things I make, check out the freebies that both sites have. There are links to their freebies at the top of their home pages.
I’m not really good at coming up with my own ideas. I have photos up of many of them in my gallery (my crafty stuff, not all silhouette creations).
Anyway, if there’s anything I can do to help, I have no life. I’m always here.
@lisaviolet Well, thank you for your offers of help and information. And @mflassy, I don’t think I’ll regret this, sorry, but if you had some melted candy corn - naw.
I think I’ll pass this on to one of the schools I work in. They are all doing that maker stuff these days, and a librarian said they’d reimburse me for it. If only I was retired and had more time to play.
It was the largest spur-of-the-moment purchase I’ve ever made due to meh.com. And now, I can’t say I’ve never been to woot. Sigh. Assimilated.
Thanks! (I hope I don’t regret this in the morning when I wake up.)
@sligett
Tell ya what, if you regret it in the morning, I’ll buy it off of you for shipping cost + $5 + a melted piece of chocolate.
@sligett You need any help, I’m here.
I so want this thing! I haven’t a clue what I’d do with it, but it’s so cool it just puts me into instant craft lust.

Sold out
@ruouttaurmind, thank you for the sweet words.

I get most of my patterns (templates, files, whatever you want to call them) from two places.
svgcuts.com and 3dsvg.com
