Great deal on a 250 FPV racer battery
0I was browsing the GearBest USA warehouses looking for bargains, and tripped across this little 3S-25C 1350mAh battery that would be ideal for a non-competitive FPV racer application. I say non-competitive because in a true high speed racer you'd probably want a 40C battery. But still... it's light and small enough for a 180 or 250 chassis, and 1350mAh is enough juice for some FPV practice runs.
Five bucks with free shipping from their New York warehouse (usually about a week to Arizona; YMMV).
That reminds me... I don't think @sportykev has a little racer yet. Kev, when are you going to build a little 250? I mean, now that you're all geared up with FPV monitor and VTX...

@ruouttaurmind man. you are the enabler of bad habits! I did think about the Walkera racer, only because it 'looks cool'. In reality, I don't know where I could fly it. Perhaps I can zip it around at the park that I never goto. There is a racing scene in Brooklyn around abandoned train yard. I also saw that the Eachine 250 is quite affordable as well. Which kit are you running?
What's the uptime on 1350mAh on these racers at full tilt anyhow?
@sportykev If you like the idea of go-fast flying, they're great. I got the ZMR250 carbon fiber chassis, CC3D flight controller, 2204 motors. Then I added 6045 rotors because I planned on running a full-size 2700mAh battery. I also added the Diatone power distro board to make it easier to wire up and fit all the bits. In the end I also wound up using a handful of custom 3D printed parts.
If you think you'll like the go-fast flying, go for it. If you're not a go-fast kind of guy, maybe this isn't the direction for you. For me, the joy came from the build and the design. The super-fast flight... not as enjoyable for me. Though I think if I had FPV goggles, I might get more of a kick out of it.
From my full-size battery I get about 12 minutes of reasonably spirited flight time. From the little battery in the link above, I'd guess 5-7 minutes.
For my next build I think I'd like to do one of the sub-racer size. There are a number of 180mm chassis out there, I've seen a couple of 150's. I would like maybe 120ish with a micro FPV cam and VTX for buzzing around inside the house.
